JP is incorrect about monsters not being able to do damage to the party without a failed roll from the party. There are things called Soft moves and Hard moves. A soft move is something you set up "A monster walks up to you what do you do?" you give them the opportunity to do something about it. A hard move is more like "the monster punches you in the face and does its damage". A hard move will follow a soft move if something isn't done about the soft move but a hard move can just be arbitrarily done. It's up to the DM.

The PCs should never speak their moves, just for anyone watching and enjoying the system enough to want to try it out themselves! p.s as already stated by another, NPCs don't only deal damage or attack when the PCs fail or partially succeed.

Well that tends to happen when you have a first time GM who doesn't know the rules, I do it as well in a game of Apocalypse World I play in. I'm not obnoxious about it but there are rules

I had my first experience DM'ing a little while back, and being a first time DM is NOT easy. I wish I had someone like JP to back me up, because it is tough to remember the rulesets and the details for battle and encounters and challenges. A first time DM to a game you've not played before pretty much requires a backseat DM.
