only going to slow you down. If you pivot and skid, your opponent knows that and expects it. But if you do a proper mohawk and pick your feet up on all of the steps, then your not losing speed, and it is easier to gain speed when you step forwards again

good video...but you missed a few things. 1) when you do tight turns, enforce that the weight be put on the front leg. If it is put on the front leg, you will have a quicker, narrower turn. If weight is put on the back leg, your turn will be longer and wider. Having equal weight on both legs is just causing a disadvantage. 2) when you do fwd to bwd pivots, there shouldn't be any stopping/skidding action. Turn the hips, pick the feet up, and do a 'mohawk'.
