Welcome to iTripReport's flight reviews, which I focus on reviewing both the soft product and hard product of airlines around the globe. I strive to give you guys a first person perspective of different aspects of the flight. Including the ground service, onboard service, and those views that come with the flight. As you can see, I record quite a lot of the experience to make sure I record what you want to watch. As always, thank you so much for watching.

We are, or we’re until recently, a CRJ 200 family. I was a flight attendant and my hubby a Captain for AWAC (Air Wisconsin). He’s since moved on to fly 747’s after 22 years at AWAC. I had to medically retire in 2010. We both love that aircraft and spent many years happily flying together. I understand it’s miserable for any passenger taller than the average 10 year old and if you’re 6’ or taller with broad shoulders you’d better hope you’re seated next to a skinny coat hanger of a row partner. But she’s a fast jet and has an amazing safety record…well for passengers anyway. Flight attendants are constantly hurt on that aircraft. I’m sorry United didn’t offer a full service…if I’d been the flight attendant I’d never have told a PAX that it was water service only on a flight longer than 45 minutes. You want a story? Waaay back in early 2006 we were flying together, hubby up front and me in the back. One of our PAX that day was Andy Rooney (60 Minutes fame) who was back in row 10B. We’d finished boarding and my hubby was making his usual announcement about flight time and expected arrival and he always added “and your flight attendant today is Judith, she’s my better half and as much as you’ll enjoy her I’d like her back at the end of the flight please!” As I approach row 10, Andy Rooney stops me and asks if it’s true, “are you really married to the Captain?” “Yes sir.” He scrunched his eyebrows and asks “do you two have children?” “Yes sir, 4.” “When did you get time to make those children?” To which I replied…“Don’t worry sir, it won’t be during the flight now that the Mile High Club is no longer part of our benefit package!” And with that safety check completed off we went to Albany. Once we landed, Andy approached my husband as he was exiting the aircraft, gave my hubby’s chair a hard knock with his walking stick and declared “she’s a keeper!” Best compliment ever!!

@@THExBLAZEx88 of course, to be honest, recycled cabin air isn't actually a problem if all the recycled air is filtered, especially with HEPA filters, but it's pretty cool to know that there is one airliner model in existence that continuously refreshes cabin air 😃 and you might be wondering, what happens to the air in a CRJ-200 after it goes through the cabin? It is immediately pumped into the avionics computers to help cool them down 😀 and, plus, that heavenly GE CF34-3B1 sound the CRJ-200 has 😍😍😍 Here are some super cool details about the air system of the CRJ-200: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGaWc4NsatqhaLs

@@rafaelwilks no way! That’s actually such a sick avgeek piece of trivia. I’m headed to that video right now! The one thing about cabin air, although not quite the same, that I think it really cool with a new aircraft is the cabin pressurization of the 787! Only 6,000 feet pressure as opposed to most which stick at 8,000 feet, apparently it makes for a much more comfortable ride even with only a 2,000 ft difference! I’ll get to fly my first 787 in 12 days!!

When I worked for UA I took a trip on a CRJ-200 operated by Mesa that was formerly owned by an airline called Southern Winds out of Argentina. Southern Winds had full galleys installed on all their CRJ's because they wanted to offer hot meals as a point of differentiation. The full galley meant it only had 48 seats. When Mesa took delivery of the aircraft they didn't remove the galley. Meaning they had this one weird CRJ flying around their network with 2 seats missing. This had to have been a major pain for gate agents as it's not like there was a special seat map just for this aircraft, so any time someone had selected 1C or D they had to be reseated. Luckily this aircraft was scrapped a long time ago.

I'm fairly new here. So many comments. Is Knox your home base? It's mine, just had a series of flights back n forth to Baltimore last week. Flew American against everyone else's advice 🙁 Can't say they were horrid but they're not pleasant, either...unlike when I fly with Delta. Delta just seems to really have their act together. Mostly flew CRJ900, which I adore. That's a speedy little sucker. ❤️ Had the A321 out of JFK on return and REALLY loved that one. First layover in Charlotte was fine. In and out, close gates. On return trip, it was BWI to JFK to CLT to TYS. JFK was a dump and it was so far between gates but nowhere near Charlotte's issue on return. That airport is beautiful but my gawd, it's an entire small city. Land at C9, had to walk to E29. Holy cow! Sign said 19 minute walk just to E, then 29 gates to go. Never again. Walking with luggage on a short connection? Nah! Weather issues had that place packed on a Saturday night. After that walk, American kept delaying the flight to Knox. Screaming kids everywhere. Then, we had to walk the tarmac onto a climb up on a contraption to enter the plane. Embraer 175, I believe. It was too much. 😂 You're so right. Knox is a nice airport even though it's traffic is light. So sparkly clean, easy process start to finish. Delta even has a flight that LEAVES there at 530 am. Chicago looks nice. Lucky you! Is United your first choice flying? You did well with that crying baby. Glad it wasn't a flight to Seattle!

Looks as though TYS is a mini-Allegiant hub--was questioning your use of the word 'tegridy'--I believe you were looking for 'integrity'--I like CRJ-200's over the 145--I like the engine sound,the wheels sound like they're about to fall off during takeoff/landing--that braking at ORD,if my truck brakes sounded anything like that,I'd be worried! The -200 series has a quirk,just before the gear is dropped with a definite 'thud',the cabin chime dings twice. But yes from an avgeeks POV, those windows are too low for comfortable viewing/filming--can't go wrong with a view of the Chicago lakefront! You took your time in uploading this,flight was taken end of August last year but posted just a day ago!

I will be flying a CRJ200 on 2/27 on a flight from Chicago to Cedar Rapids, Iowa which is also operated by Air Wisconsin for United but I will be in row 1. It will be my first CRJ200 flight since 2016 (I tried to book a flight on the CRJ550 instead but it had too long of a layover). While I miss a lot of planes that are no longer with us, when United and Delta get rid of theirs over the next few years I will not shed a tear. I cannot think of a funny story with the CRJ200 but an ironic one in that I have only been on 2 flights with major delays in the last 15 years and they both happened on the CRJ200 and both while we were on board and having to sit much longer in the seats that we were supposed to. The first was a flight from Long Beach to Salt Lake City on Delta where one of the computers decided to die as we were taxing to the runway. It took about two hours to fix (yes with us sitting in those lovely seats) and we nearly ended up stuck in Long Beach as we almost hit the curfew time. The other time I was flying from Cedar Rapids to Portland with a CRJ200 flight to MSP (my last CRJ200 flight in 2016) and we got stuck at CID for a couple of hours due to thunderstorms and yes we were already on the plane. By the time we finally got into MSP I only had 5 minutes to make my connecting flight to Portland and of course, we arrived at Gate A1 and my other flight was at G37, and I don't think there are two gates farther apart from each other at MSP. Well I started running, a people mover's train doors were closing I jumped in, got out and ran to my gate and fortunately my flight leaving was also delayed but they were boarding the last few passengers as I ran up.

Crj200 wasn’t as terrible as I’ve seen people review. Seat wasn’t too uncomfortable but window alignment was definitely disappointing. It’s gets quite a bad rap for being a small regional jet but it is a critical connection for so many smaller communities. I flew around the same time on SkyWest to Prescott and they had a full snack and drink service. It was also a near two hour flight. Aircraft is definitely aging and it seems the 200 fleet has more and more mechanical issues. They are an absolute workhorse that got the job done
@HR-wd6cw
@HR-wd6cw 2 жыл бұрын
The only issue I had with United's CRJ200's were that I had a bag that would fit under the seat, but not above in the carry-on rack, but they made me gate check it anyway, even though they told me when I boarded that if it fit under the seat, it was fine. I never could figure out why this became an issue on the flight (luckily it was just clothes, and nothing expensive, but still annoying). Oddly, the area under the seats in CRJ's are about the same size as what you'd have for a carry-on on a regular (ex. 737) passenger jet in some cases. But I never had any issues flying in them that would cause concern . I mean I've flown in the Airbus Q400's before (their turbo-props planes) and those can get bumpy and uncomfortable when flying over the western Rockies (ie. around Coloardo and that area) but the few times I flew on the CRJ200's they were fine from a comfort standpoint. I mean I wouldn't want to be in one for 4+ hours, but for short flights ~1 hours, they're fine.

I’m probably going to get shit for saying this but here it goes. I prefer the CRJ200 over the E145. I’ve flown it many times since I’ve been in my single digits it’s a huge part of my child hood growing up. I enjoy the CRJ200s I can understand why a lot of people dislike the aircraft but I don’t mind it at all. I’ve come across good ones and bad ones over the years. As long as it gets me to my destination I’m good. I’ve had a horrible experience on an E145 my head was touching the top of the cabin and my seat was uncomfortable. But when I’m in a CRJ200 legroom isn’t so bad and my head isn’t touching the top as much with the exception of enter and exiting the aircraft. So to wrap up I enjoy the CRJ200s. Great video keep up the hard work.

The Embraer 145s are better with the 1 by 2 configuration. I was on one, but flight time was 20 minutes, it wasn't bad. But not good idea to be on them or CRJ 200 on longer flights. I think that one reason United haven't reach Delta or American in terms of capacity yet is the overused of CRJ 200s. Hopefully they be replaced by similar seat count, but more comfortable CRJ 550s.

Ha ha ha!!!! Totally agree with your ban on pre-dawn departures and the CRJ-200, which Jeb Brooks correctly called "Satan's chariot"! This aircraft is barely tolerable for an hour or so. It's cramped and loud, with ridiculously low and tiny windows. A nightmare to fly! Despite all of those complaints, I enjoyed your trip report! PS: I upvote the ERJ 145 over the CRJ200 How can you not love the single seats on the left side of the ERJ? And the roomier toilet at the rear? ;-)

Jeb Brooks has absolutely no idea that the CRJ-200 is literally the only airliner that continuously refreshes cabin air, never recycling it (not that recycled cabin air is actually a problem if there are HEPA filters)

Saw this video get posted and I first thought that maybe you had lost a bet and had to fly on the Canadian Torture Chamber lol. That said, no problem flying on these from a hub to a smaller market. I hated when the airlines were flying these to mid to large markets that could support a mainline aircraft. Glad those days are gone!

Back in February I flew on United from Denver to Nashville on a 2 hour flight on a CRJ 700, it wasn’t fun at all, plus being on the ground for so long with heater issues and de icing made it even worst

I try to avoid this aircraft as well as I'm not a fan of engines affixed to the fuselage. That's weird I know but there you have it. Lovely video though and the wing on your aircraft looked clean and shiny. Sad interior however.

I took a flight from Minneapolis to Chicago at 615 in the morning on a 200. Had to de ice and it was only a 55 minute flight. The taxi time at Chicago is insane and took nearly 20 minutes. Overall just a bad plane and a bad experience. Nothing went wrong just everything felt wrong if that makes sense

Here’s my funny story regarding an experience with a 200…. I was flying out of Denver to Glacier Park INTL, 2 hour flight expected. Our flight was supposed to leave at 2pm after an hour layover. We then get delayed another hour because they didn’t have a pilot or FAs, okay no big deal. We wait, 7 hours go by and we finally get a pilot and FAs. We then had awful turbulence to the point of the pilot coming on the PA and saying “uhhhhh we just had some of the worst turbulence we’ve seen on this route in years” We land and United loses our bags. Long story short, the 200 is bad luck, I 0/10 recommend.

Seriously, even if the CRJ-200 didn't have continuously refreshed cabin air, I'd still rather fly the 200 instead of the 145 because the 200 is GE-powered 😍

I once flew on a nwa airlink (Pinnacle) CRJ-440 in a 4 long excruciating hour flight MSP-ELP! The guy seating next to me and I were both big guys, so me seating in 11C had my shoulder bumped by everyone going to the lav. Yes, a full flight. When I thought the misery was over, the pilots aborted the landing and added another 20 minutes to the torture. I promised I'd never fly on the CRJ-200 ever again and I intend to keep it that way. Don't get me wrong, a go-around is something awesome, but it came at a very high cost to my back.

You need to explain the whole story about that since it was a "thought" that they did seize up. This plane is not designed to fly at that altitude. They mostly fly at or about 280 flight level. It was also a ferry flight and the crew was messing around and had the plane above its max service ceiling.
