I flew LH 747-8 Business class form Miami to Frankfurt yesterday, row 7. That was the day when the Crowdstrike desaster hit. So I was glad the flight was going, even on time. My luggage however still is in MIA as the airtag shows me. But an hour ago I got an email from LH that they found so with a bit of luck I should have it back soon. The 747-8 needs no commenting, for me it is THE plane. The Lufthansa service was excellent, very friendly and really looking after people without fake smile bs. Food was really good and while, yes, there are more modern seats I got the 2-3 hours of sleep which make the difference between a messed up day and still being able to be productive. I‘d choose the 747 anytime over other planes.

Flying the 748 this weekend (business class). Had the opportunity to fly United Polaris or other, more up-to-date business class options for similar costs, but chose LH because, as you said, being able to fly the 747 in the 2020s is a chance which shouldn't be passed up. Can't wait!

I flew on Lufthansa from Houston to Frankfurt to Equatorial Guinea, Africa and back, round trip a few dozen times over seven years, sometimes in business class. I never had a bad flight, Lufthansa has the best and most professional pilots and flight attendants, in my opinion.

Unpopular opinion: I actually really like these Lufthansa seats. They feel modern and sleek and while they do not possess much privacy, the seats make the cabin feel overall bigger, especially on the lower deck. I traveled a lot on these seats and they are consistent and barely have issues. Obviously not Polaris but I think it gets hated on too much from a lot of people!

Not really great as a solo traveler though, if you want the window seat you'd need to step over someone/ask them to get up and if you're in the aisle the window seat person would be stepping over you/asking you to get up.

I love the seats when traveling as a couple. Last time when flying solo, I had a window seat in the upperdeck. My neighbor was a Porsche engineer in a leading position. We had a great 6 hour conversation, nice champagne and signature cocktails. Still in contact with him..

Great video! My only flight on a 747 (747-400) was in early 2000s on LH from FRA - JFK. Was the hottest flight in economy I’ve ever had, but great flight nonetheless. Can’t wait for the video in F!

Took this flight in the opposite direction Frankfurt to San Francisco November 2023. Sat in the seat next to yours 87H. Upper deck business class on the 747-8 is bucket list for an aviation geek.

I am flying in November the first time with the 747-8 in the upper deck and was curious how it will be so thanks for this video. Travelled in Business Class from Air France the last time I went to Florida. So lets see how the business class is at Lufthansa. Unfortunately I ve heard already a lot of complaining.

Great video! Thank you for being properly dressed for business class on the Queen of the Skies. You looked sharp and totally fit the class. The other KZbinrs and lackies wearing T-shirts and flip flops have no class or respect and don’t belong.

Thanks! For the most part I try my best to dress with class when traveling, granted, there are a few times I don't but even then, you'll never see me wearing shorts on regular t-shirts in business, except for when I change into them after dinner

Excellent trip report however the airfare is more expensive San Francisco Frankfurt Berlin as compared to Newark Frankfurt Berlin. Remember it's cheaper to fly to Europe from the east coast of the United States than the West Coast but the west coast is cheaper to fly towards Asia. Which explains the Polaris Lounge in San Francisco having Manila bound passengers on EVA Air/Singapore Airlines Asiana Air China and All Nippon Airways last option United Airlines in Star Alliance.

Thanks for this video! I'm planning to fly with Lufthansa for the first time in September (first major international flights) on both their Airbus A340-300 and their 747-8. (I'm starting a "mission" to fly on all the quad jets still in service!) On the 747, I'm booked in business on the upper deck in 87A--same row but opposite side of where you were. I'm always a window seat flyer, so I'm a bit concerned about not having direct aisle access. How hard was it for you to get out of your seat? Or did you wait until the aisle seat person got up? At least the flight I chose for my 747 experience is only eight hours long, so enough time to enjoy it, but not too long as to be overly tiring, I hope. (So far, I've never slept on a plane beyond closing my eyes for a while, as my flights have all been domestic with the longest at six hours in mostly daylight.)

Thankfully my seat mate didn't really recline all the way, neither of us also fell asleep properly which made getting in n out easy for me. Yeah it's the only downside of these seats. I just made it my mission to do the same, I flew the A340-300 last week, now on my bucket list is the A380 and the 744 (its been almost a decade since I last flew it)

I flew to San Francisco on their A380 8 years ago in business class, much better experience than the noisy 747, but Lufthansa moved all A380 to Munich in 2018 and left Frankfurt with the old noisy 747s, Munich got all the modern A350 and A380, Lufthansa prefers Munich since Frankfurt gave a discount in landing fees to Ryanair.😂😂😂😂

nice video, but what an old horrible polluting 747 with a NO-PRIVACY OLD BC! very poor Lufthansa, how they dare and how customers are willing to pay such an amount for that! there are much better alternatives!! the amenity kit is also very poor; I never travel LH on long haul any more.

I guess, the majority of people who buy these tickets just can’t miss the opportunity to fly the B747 once again, before it will retire. On the contrary, you need to give props to Lufthansa for giving such an opportunity.

At least be happy that there’s one more opportunity to fly the 747… And besides that the 747-8 fully packed isn’t more polluting than modern twin-jets, it even has the same sort of engines as the 787 dreamliner… The problem is a lot of airlines can’t get it full. Im super happy there’s still carriers that are able to fill these giants! And I know for sure within a few years people need bigger planes again because of the airport restrictions in takeoff and landing slots… I just booked a flight in September with LH 747-8 specifically to be able to fly it once in my life, looking forward to it!!

Because the service is still good compared to other airlines. Sometimes there are no other alternatives. For example Frankfurt Buenos Aires, it is the only airline flying directly.
