I believe banging the gears up that you mentioned when chickun did it he use to play monster energy supercross and I use to watch his videos. In that game shifting up made you go a lot faster through the whoops. He probably just did it out of muscle memory and it worked out the same. Not that it makes you faster on this game but it def makes it easier to get over them.
