After 37 years at our previous QTH where everything worked pretty seamlessly we moved! I’m currently shackles while I set about the renovations and celebrate 50 years of marriage. So I’m looking for inspiration as after 6 months I thought I would have had at least 2 + 70 by now but the natural shack location has not jumped out at me yet. Thanks for posting Mike as every vid helps 👍🏻.

One consideration for the Nevada PSU, if one of the regulator power transistors goes short circuit, the output of the PSU will go up to 20+ volts. Your 12v radio gear most prob wont survive this and any fuses, if they blow, will be after the smoke starts. Might be worth fitting an over voltage and current trip, to the PSU output, as these are cheap compared to a radio repair.

Ha ! This always happens to me… every outdoor project no matter what it rains… annoys me. The power supply, I have a similar make it’s 40amp new as I’m just trying to get going a the hum 🤨 and when the fan starts the noise is bad, not as bad as yours, I’m thinking of putting a bigger fan in it at a slower speed ? 🤔 I’m still experimenting before spending thousands… going to have to try end feds and getting a DX pole to try vertical antennas… unless I can get out it’s no use spending tons of money on a 890s which is what I want. Tremendous rebuild Mike and it’s good you’ve sorted it. I really enjoy your channel and think you’re a clever chap.73. 💙 G0UVL

I don't have the gear you have but in the same boat. Only a rebuild with careful attention to correct setup will resolve problems. Plus time for trip 2 for jinxed Yaesu 991a to get warranty work. Its not good quality anymore. Shame on them. Thanks for the report!

Mike can you please tell me if your stub mast is 2 inch diameter as I am about to re do my tower with new beams but I was unsure whether the 2 inch stub mast I use is too thick for the 70cm beam so I bought an L shaped stand off that's only an inch diameter but would rather the beam be just put direct on the mast if it will work ok. Please let me know if your 70cm beam works as it should thanks Greg G0VXM

Really impressed with everything, but that antenna setup is brilliant piece of work - Do you work with sats with the 9700 wondering if you have Alt control as well on 70cm/2m, or do you get enough coverage pointing at the horizon on the antennas ?

roughly how high are your 2/70 & 23cms up Mike as i am in the process of getting my tower up with the same antenna configuration & the same radio, the only big difference is my 23cms beam is a antenna amplifiers heavy duty 36 element version(i live close to the sea) @ 2.3m long its a beast ,the other 2 are wimo mono banders, by my guessing yours are about 10m AGL ???

Wow…. You guys in GB run your antennas at very low heights. Is that council regs ? Here in OZ we can get away with a bit more. Most councils say 6m above a existing structure…… us cb’ers and free banders tend to ignore that 😜 when I lived in Melbourne Victoria I ran a 36-40’pole a 5/8 ground plane . Seems like you guys can’t do that ?
@mike-M0MSNАй бұрын
Well you would be correct, local planing rules state 1.5 metres above roof height maximum before Planing is required, plus and more importantly the Station Manager said no higher.
