WANT a Chance to Come Aboard? / nahoa
Keeping a sailboat running and afloat is a constant, never-ending effort when you're on a mission to sail around the world. An average day almost always contains some sort of boat maintenance. The problem is sometimes repairs require a technician or specialized tools. And in some countries there are no spare parts. Your options are to either fix it or well, fix it! The Philippines may have some of the most ingenious and skilled technicians we have come across to date. With some simple tools and a wealth of knowledge they were able to completely rebuild both our alternator and windlass. The added bonus? We saved thousands of dollars by not having a West Marine available. Winning.
BE BRAVE. BE BOLD,
Ben & Ash

If you have lived in the Phillipines for a while you will realise that they can fix anything. We have become a society of replacing entire parts like PCBs and motors , pumps. In the 60s we repaired all items. So, to see the guy on the street who does nothing but motor winding, alternator repairs, is no big deal. I love it. I really enjoyed the video because of the Street Solutions! Hey, try the Jolly Bee burger there after the Maccas. Thanks for the videos

Hi guys! I’m a 41 year old from Toronto🇨🇦. I have a small family and we have been the “motor home” thing for 4 years now. OMG it’s changed my life. It’s amazing how little space one needs if it means u can travel almost anywhere in total comfort. So naturally we would LOVE to 🖕 it all and travel full time. With that thought in mind, I watch a bunch of “sailing” videos on u tube. I find u guys. La Vagabond and Zatara to name a couple more. But for some reason I get this connection vibe from from u 2 for some reason. Obviously u both ROCK! Supper cool, funny and I won’t lie, Ashley is some pretty HOT. Just saying😜. So I’m hooked. After binge watching your content I figured it out. U guys are Canadian eh! 🤘🏻 I think it’s when Ashley says “man” at the end of her sentences that really made me feel the “Canadian” connection. Anyway... I Love U guys. Great stuff. Really REALLY entertaining. U keep filming and I’ll keep watching. Be safe out there u two. 😘😘😘

Once I flipped the battery bank selector switch while the engine was running. It blew out the diode in the alternator. After that I bought a spare diode.I see why he sent you across the road for parts ,if he crossed that road everyday he wouldn't live long.Being a mechanic myself I love to watch other mechanic do their thing. The tools may be inexpensive there but the basics remain the same.Bernard Mointesseir learned alot of his ways from Vietnamese sailors with no compasses.Amazing what can be done with low tech stuff.I see output voltage testor consisted of a light bulb.Perfect.Nothin like a chesseburger in paradise!
