Personally...I liked the new voices. I think Vaggie, Angel, Alastor and others new voices fits. Viv basically was looking for actors who could sing and act at the same time and I think they killed it. Plus..the new Voice for Angel Dust had no other rolls until he got the part as angel. And trust me..he is really good. Give these new guys a chance, I assure you that they will get better.

I'm gonna correct you on one thing, Ryan... Edward Bosco (pilot Alastor) was doing an impression of Amir Talai (New Alastor Voice* and Viv even said she wanted to get someone who could sound identical to Amir, if not Amir himself. Guess what? She managed to land Amir himself, so I want to extend a personal, Alastor-esque "GOOD JOB." to Viv for getting the EXACT guy she wanted to do the EXACT voice she wanted him for.

I'd highly recommend anyone doubting this to simply check Vivzie's KZbin channel and see a video from almost eight years ago about her "fantasy casting" video for Hazbin, when it's Hell was originally going to be a part of her Zoophobia webcomic; which is also why there's so many furry character designs. The song example she uses for Alastor is "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile", which is also quoted by him in the pilot, while Amir performed in the play (Annie) that's it's from himself!

@@ViperVixen420_69 that’s why when there’s a cast change (particularly when it’s almost a complete cast change vs only 1 pilot) I always try to forget the first cast except as they relate to that particular episode. Drop all preconceived notions and listen to the character as per the new actor. They have more time to actually develop the character over a full season. I watched episode 1 before even being aware there was a pilot. Thought the voice acting was incredible in both versions.

@@toddathant-star9034 it’s especially funny when you consider the fact that, I heard the voice direction that the Alastors actor in the pilot was at that point attempting to imitate voices done by the actor who plays him in the actual show. So if that’s correct, at least for Alastor if anything it’s the other way around, the pilot actor was doing an impression of the actor who they actually managed to get for the role later on. 😂😂😂

So, all the voice actors were recast because in the OG most had different speaking and singing voices. Now, almost all of the VAs are broadway stars Edit : nevermind you know this already lol Edit 2 : actually it’s not really a price thing but more of a consistency thing, instead of having an noticeable change in voice in their musical numbers, having a full time voice for the characters that represents them at all times. I’m pretty sure it’s actually more pricey to have broadway stars voice acting as the characters 24/7 than to have 2 different voice actors but the one that does 90% of the content is wayyyy less pricey I’m in no way a vivziepop fan but I think this decision was understandable (getting famous albeit talented people in the cast now that the budget is bigger). I also think Stephanie Beatriz was terrible as Vaggie tho. I think Alastor was good but I like the original better

To be fair, Viv is a massive broadway musical nerd, so she's probably living out her dream of being able to cast some of her favorite singers/actors from today's musicals. We can already see some of this in Helluva Boss where we have Igelhart and Brightman (both of which also are in this new Hazbin Hotel... and Igelhart also briefly being in the pilot too!)

I don’t want to hate too hard, I don’t like criticizing actors for things that may have been director’s choices. But I also dislike how Vaggie’s voice is. It sounds like someone TRYING to deepen their voice to sound tough or indifferent. Very monotonous. And the justification of “consistency” is lost with Vaggie specifically, when she sings “Whatever it Takes.” She immediately starts in such a high register, and gets even higher by the end. Like, who the heck is this singing, and why is she so cute and high pitched suddenly?

The only tidbit I had that I could think of is about Brandon Rogers voicing Katie Killjoy. I don't have any reason for the change in actors other than it's something that happens a lot. Brandon Rogers is mainly a screen actor. He's done a lot of skits in the past and is good at making characters. Though most of his characters sound the same because he probably isn't trained in voices or just doesn't have a wide voice range. Alex Brightman (who played Adam) is a great example of an actor with a lot of range. He played Fizzaroli in Helluva boss and not everyone can tell they're the same person. When he played Beetle juice on Broadway he showed of a lot of voice range. Some voice actors are hired for a specific voice or sound such as Keith David who plays Husk in the show. A lot of his roles are just his normal voice because his voice works well. As for why Rogers is playing Katie Killjoy......uhhhh...my best guess is they wanted a *Helluva* reference. (Pun partially intended.)

I love ALL your reactions, and reaction channels are usually the absolute bane of my existence. I enjoy how you add on reviews into the video (especially in the dhmis tv show reactions.) I actually like the new voices, Vaggie having a more stoic voice makes sense for her character and I genuinely can't tell the difference when it comes to Alastor, the radio filter makes it sound the same. Also that was 100% the director's fault on Angel's first line delivery, no clue why they have his first ever sentence start by roleplaying being in a reclined position to strain his voice like that, it fits the action since it's back to normal once he sits upright but holy hell was it bad.

Detail on the new voices, it was also for legal reasons. Apparently the studio didn't want to employ "nobodies" from the internet, random people who were not from any agency nor union. Not because they didn't want, but because it's illegal. Hence why they had to change almost all of the cast. But you can't remove Viv from the equation; she's the one who puts that much songs and who loves flexing with her Broadway actors. Given how much creative liberty she was given by the studio, i don't think they were the sole responsible for the change of voices. She's as guilty as the rest. I think you're pretty harsh with the new cast as well, they did a really good job. I'm not a fan of Angel's new voice actor sometimes going very high pitched, but other than this it's good. And they still have Alex Brightman, the voice of Fizz, voicing Adam and Sir Pentious. I really wonder where your whole rant is coming from. I don't have the feeling you hate the actors, but that you jsut hate the fact they are changed.

im glad me and Ryan can agree, the old Killjoy voice actor was better though i also miss the old tom trench voice, the new one just sounds like they had no one for the role so they just had someone make a silly voice, though i do get sense they have less time for there episodes, they have to cut down on jokes so i imagine choices like that may just be choosing cheaper voice actors to fill the roles so they can spend money elsewhere

Re: Charlie and Jill Harris - In the pilot, Charlie had two VAs; Jill spoke and Elsie sang. So in the series, they cast Erika, who could both voice act and sing in character. Re: Vaggie's voice - I hardly noticed any difference lol, mainly just that Stephanie's voice doesn't get higher when Vaggie's angry like how Monica's did. But they sounded pretty close to me XD I could be wrong but I think you're confusing monotony for not caring. Vaggie doesn't put much emotion into her voice unless it's a really strong emotion (hence why her voice went higher when she was yelling at Angel in the pilot). But her emotions aren't as strong when she's interacting with the same people after some time. She expects Angel's sass and Alastor's smugness. Re: Pilot - Pilot was confirmed by Viv to be semi canon. Re: Alastor and Ed - someone else explained it in much better detail but when Viv pulled together the pilot, she wanted someone who could imitate Amir, so when the show got picked up, she was able to get the actual Amir. The series Alastor isn't imitating the pilot Alastor, pilot Alastor was imitating series Alastor. Re: Angel Dust singing a full song - Addict required a lot of auto tuning lol. Michael was pretty good in Addict but not a Broadway level singer. He had the opportunity to audition again, but just wasn't a good singing fit. Re: Viv getting a Broadway cast - She likes musicals and has wanted to work with a Broadway cast for a while so simply, she got the opportunity to do so and took it :P but like, I see these interviews and videos and the cast's tweets and I'm definitely seeing the same passion that the pilot cast had. Re: Amazon interference - I believe voices were recast before Amazon was even involved but experience or fame wasn't an issue. Michael has had many roles over the years but Angel Dust is literally Blake's first role. They were all just considered the best fit of the auditions (save for Amir for aforementioned reason). Re: Old TV - I could see you being right with Charlie just thinking it's cool but the case is likely either 1) it was in the hotel when Charlie started her project and she didn't bother to upgrade or 2) Alastor refuses to let the hotel have any upgraded technology due to his rival being Vox, both a stalker/peeping tom and likely voyeur. Re: "Standing with the pilot cast" - they're fine, many if not all of them have roles on other things and I think everyone has congratulated the new cast and shown no hard feelings. Pilots get changed when they become series, that's just how it is. The pilot VAs have a special place in the fans' hearts but they're not the only people allowed to have the roles just because they were them in the pilot lmao. Re: Who just starts singing? - Get used to it lmao, musicals use songs to help progress the story and Hazbin getting hoed and only given 8 episodes in S1 means there's gonna be a lot of musical storytelling. That also means you have to pay close attention to both lyrics and visuals lol Re: Why is Adam still in Heaven - As Lute says, angels don't make mistakes. Adam's the first man so angels don't want to consider him a mistake (also you said at the end of the video that God created Adam which isn't the case in Hazbin. This is why Adam is able to stay in Heaven). Re: Second death - Sinners are functionally immortal when angels aren't around. When they're killed, the just respawn. Only when they're killed by an exorcist's weapon does their soul cease to exist. Re: Katie - yeah that recast is more for Brandon Rogers fans lol. Look up Bryce Tankthrust and that's basically Katie. I do think Brandon could've leaned a bit more feminine but I really love him as Katie. He perfectly captures her ready-to-snap personality.

The pilot is semi-canon. Basically, it's canon with the exception of things specifically stated as different. So far, that's been two things - the opening scene with Heaven history, which is more expanded than changed. And Lucifer is entirely remade.

What I find most appealing about Adam and the exterminators is that they seem to be the most different from the angels portrayed and showed in their introduction, they have almost demon-like appearances themselves because they are the most capable of causing harm and and destruction in the name of "good" and because of this, they were given the clothing of crusading knights and Adam specifically has the robes of old medieval popes.

That's because the exorcists/exterminators are not angels, they're human souls. There is an explanation behind the fact they're obviously not "good", it is addressed in a later episode. They're meant to be exactly as they are portrayed, even if it doesn't make sense right now. You're missing some key context, that's all.

Happy to see you react to Hazbin Hotel, Ryan! It's honestly my favorite show of all time at this point. I love it so much. I know it takes some getting used to for the new voice actors, as the ones from the pilot did a great job, but I actually think the new ones are better. They give the characters more depth and emotion in my opinion (not to mention the amazing singing)...except for Vaggie's voice actor (she does get better but not by much). Believe me, the show gets better with each episode! 😁

i-I can't agree with this. I feel like the va are very good... I can agree that some are better and some are worse but i literally get used to different voices and its not really bothers me in any way. And legends like Keith David? They are not better then originals in most cases but its good enough. And the Blitzo's Voice is a Joke... Its refference to Brandon Roggers persona in his yt content

Yes, the voices did take some getting used to. But I’ll tell you it gets better, and I’d say episode 1 is the worst of the 6 that’s out so far in my opinion. That’s all I’ll say. Loved the reaction as always :)

It actually pisses me off when people shit on the new voice actors just because they dont sound like the old ones, like they aren't supposed to, their supposed to sound like how Viv wants her characters to sound and thats how they sound now. As a voice actor myself the only valid criticism is that vaggie can sound flat sometimes but thats was only around the start of episode one. Its so bullshit that these actors are giving great performances but people are blinded by nostalgia

You've certainly got some good points Shin. I will admit I was so deflated by some bad reads that I got a little to heated at points. Though I do want to say I wish the vas did their own take on the voice instead of trying to be like the old ones. Stolas is a great example. And after cooling off I think the only bad ones was vaggie and killjoy. The other ones I just wish did some retakes for some of the lines

@@livedeadman yeah that's understandable, I will say I feel that episode 1 has the most instances were the dialogue feels off, otherwise the rest if the series feels more like the cast has gotten use to the characters, probably because they recorded episode 1 first. Also thanks for not being one of those people who D-ride the pilot VAs into the sunset, I understand those are the voices we got use to and they did a great job, but we still need to give the new VAs a chance and the respect they deserve

The VA’s for Alastor, Angel and especially Katie Killjoy were definitely better in the Pilot, but I got used to them (except Katie) after a couple of rewatches. I didn’t really have much of a problem with Vaggie’s VA, other than she sounded much older to me. The story of Adam and Lilith isn’t cannon in current Christianity, but comes from odl, medieval Jewish Tradition. Lilith was created from the dirt like Adam and refused to be subservient and left the garden. In some stories she goes on to be the wife of the devil. It’s also interesting to note that God seems to be completely absent from the narrative. I’ve heard the theory that the show may be running with the concept that God in the Hellaverse isn’t so much an active deity, but rather a passive force of creation and that it’s the Elders of Heaven that are filling his traditional role.

Amir talai is not doing an impression of edward bosco... it's reversed. Amir Talai was vivienne's original dream for Alastair. Edward bosco... was essentially doing, an amir talai impression... before amir was even cast. Look up amir talai singing "never fully dressed without a smile" which is actually a line Alastair said in the pilot. I agreed with you regarding Vaggie for the first scene.... but it literally is never bad again. The first scene was strangely bad. Shes voiced by Stephanie beatriz. Shes definitely not a bad voice actor. I think you're being a tad dramatic regarding the voices. Did you forget stolas and millie?

I totally disagree with you on Vaggie. Her voice bothered me throughout and is by far one of the worst Va I've ever heard throughout every series I've reacted to. She might be a good VA in other things but in this show she show literally no passion and feels like she reading off a script and thats why shes nothing like stolas and millie who actually sound like they care. (Also dont tell anyone I said this but I like stolas new va better then the old. He does a great job) I will say though with Amir I felt like I was a little to rough on him. He's not the worst just some of his lines fell flat. I feel like they just needed to do some retakes. Like with the first line of angel dust.

All of that intro was pretty much biblically accurate - at least for some placed. The bible was basically a mashup of a bunch of ancient manuscripts, different manuscripts in different parts of the world, and when people decided to make one consistent version to be used everywhere, the manuscript that included Lilith didn’t make the cut. But yeah, the only part that did not happen is Lilith meeting Lucifer (although it is vague enough to make an argument that even that happened). Lilith was the first woman, her constant fighting with Adam is why God made Eve from Adam’s rib (to make her subservient), she did leave the garden, she did at least have sex with an angel that later became a fallen angel - that’s where demons come from and why she is known as Mother of Demons. And Lucifer doesn’t want to hurt anyone - he fell because he was so confident that HE knew what was best for humanity better than God did (sin of pride) that he literally led a rebellion against God. He was actually trying to help humanity, not hurt them. It’s just that being away from God literally IS torture, so it can’t be helped. In fact, the translation for the devil is most accurately translated (most of the time) as The Adversary. So he isn’t evil - he’s just the one that challenges God’s claims. That makes him an enemy of humanity in a way, because his ideas of what is best are misguided and will lead to suffering in the long run. So God warns people to watch out for him and avoid his temptations, but Lucifer isn’t intentionally evil. He’s just dumb enough to think he is smarter than God.

Vaggie's voice fits perfectly, my dude. She's a deadpan snarker that's fed up with people's shit and has a soft spot for her girlfriend. She was annoyed and exasperated with people, she's just low energy, she reminds me of Red Guy or Spike from the Pony.MOV series now that I think about it. There was no reason for her to display a ton of passion in her lines here because that's not what her character is, she's the calm, rational, down to earth one that keeps a cool head, she's a contrast to Charlie.

Ryan, baby, I love ya, I really do, but I kinda get the feeling you're more upset over the fact they got new actors than you are over the line reads or how the voices actually sound. It's valid and it sucks, but the new VAs are honestly fine. I urge you to rewatch the pilot. New Vaggie sounds just about identical to the old one. She had a couple of bad line reads at the start in her first scene, but honestly she isn't bad for the rest of this episode even. Trust me, by the end of episode 3 you'll be more than used to the new actors.
