To answer your questions No you cant choose you class And no he doesn't have to be a hunter he could get a different job but if he works as a hunter the Hunter Association helps pay for his mothers treatment Edit: he also gets paid more as a hunter than any other job

To give more insight into their ranking system not everyone awakens some people awaken later in life, some earlier, some in the middle, and some never do. Sung is the weakest hunter ever even among other E-Ranks but compared to unawakened people he’s stronger then them. So the weakest hunter in mankind is sorta true.

First episode just didn't do it for me. I'm sorry but I don't see where the hype for this show is. It may be part of me not normally liking shows like Hunter x Hunter, and it gives off Sword Art Online vibes which I did not like that show. But who knows what the rest of it would bring, so the next few episodes are going to determine if I ever watch this show or not.

It might give you similar vibe to hxh,soa at start but this show is more dragon ball. There isn't much of a deep story or crazy character development, it just has pure action and badass main character moments just like dragon ball. I dont know if you like power fiction shows but trust me you will definitely find the mc really badass and his shadow army is really cool ( spoiler)
