I've worked in Vietnam for 8 years and I can 100% say that Travis's information is spot on and invaluable for anyone coming to visit or live here. As another person said, I just refer to this channel when anyone asks me about coming to Vietnam. A few thoughts if you don't mind: The semi-difficult visa is actually a positive because it keeps out the type of shady expats who are much more common in Cambodia and Thailand. Renting or buying A 50cc motorbike is completely fine for riding around the city, saves trouble with police and can help with staying insured in the event of an accident.

Great video and channel Travis! I will come to Da Nang in November and plan to settle down for a longer period and work on my business and music. I see you have a guitar and keyboard. How`s the music scene there? I need a recording studio, a vocal coach and an instrument store to make the stay work for me. I tried to google it but didn't get any wiser. Do you know if Da Nang will meet my needs? Any help is appreciated. By the way, would be cool to jam when I get there :) All the best, Gustav :)

Hey man, great videos, I always watch them with great interest. Let's say I move to Vietnam, and stay 1-3 months doing nothing but going to the beach, drinking coffee, walking in the park, visiting, etc. Then what? What are your options for doing a part time job or something like that? Not for the money, but I am the kind of person who cannot sit doing nothing for like years to come. Work as a barista, doing Glovo or uber eats(I dont't know what kind of service is there)? What are the options for a foreigner to have a job? Thank you!

Technically you can not work legally on a tourist visa. Its possible to teach english here and there. Plenty of volunteer opportunities but not many actual jobs that foreigners can do

You can direct ask some bar for partime job if you good any thing help them earn money by your skill ( singing, play guitar, drum, bartending... etc,). Labourers earn below 400usd/month no tax so don't worry about you can be checked. If you be checked about your status labourer it not big prolem in VN. Just explain to them that you want to find the funny life while there.

Whoever these people are who are saying the visa situation in Thailand is easier are clueless. If it’s a normal tourist visa, Vietnam is WAY better - you only get 30 days on arrival in Thailand (recently changed to 60, but that won’t last long as Thailand loves to change their visa policies on a whim). But even then you have to pay 60$ to renew (and a long wait at immigration) and you only get 30 more days. Vietnam is WAY easier for a normal tourist visa, and you get 3 months all at once! As someone who has lived in Thailand for over a decade, Vietnam is far superior for tourist visas.
