No school for us in the summer, just the summer reading program and I tell everyone my kids are having a 90's summer because that's all we can afford.. :)

We have a 3 month summer holidays. It's wonderful, fieldtrips, gardening, reading for hours, picnics, parks. Kids need to have rest and play. Moms need to catch up on projects.

This video was dead on. So refreshing to watch! I love your channel because I feel like there is freedom when I watch your videos verses the burdens I tend to place on myself after watching some others. Thank you!!!

im single israeli jew i just want to say what i think about homeschool. i first think there is no better teacher for children then their parents...and im sure about knowledge the parents can do good job.... but friends are very important too so if kids are in school they have better chance to reach more friends.. (i live in small country and friends are most important thing for good life ) so in homeschool do the best to help ur kids have friends its really important... get rid of expensive brands . teach ur children time is priceless so use it for good . dont waste ur time on hard work get what u need only and save urself time chasing extra money to waste on things u dont really need ....positive thoughts stay safe and stay happy !!!that most important thing ♥ God bless you all.

We are doing "all year" but we are breaking for a few weeks here or there. My daughter is in Kindergarten going into First grade. Doing a more lax learning schedule that works for her, learn everywhere we go, every day. We mostly do nothing, but have a trip planned to visit my husband's family for a week and every year we go a trip for mine and my daughter's birthdays (they are 5 days apart). Do you ever get comments about your kids being homeschooled? We ran errands one day and got some nasty comments about her not being in school from a lady, and then they said "Is she super smart?" when I said she's homeschooled. It was a shock and I didn't know what to say!

There are so many activities that we can only do in the summer- swim lessons, VBS, playing at the splash pad, library events. We'll stay busy enough with quality activities that aren't "school"!

We’re doing “summer camp”. My kids are young and I already have seen two things: 1. Christmas break was too long and it took us a bit to get back into where we were 2. My boys need a routine. Not a strict schedule but it can’t be a free for all the whole summer with their ages We have a loose routine including Bible reading and devotions, active organized play (toss and catch bean bags and such), math (bc they do need it), messy art outside bc art didn’t happen most of the year due to two toddler boys wreaking havoc… We will have plenty of “mom needs to garden” days, zoo trips, pool days! I can see as they get older that I will definitely be a take-the-summer-off mom 😅

Yes! we are a family that really does do better with structure! So even when we take the summer off, we still need some structure!

Friday is the last day of our school year. We will start up again the 3rd week of July. We take more time off throughout the year. During our summer break we will be listening to an audio book we didn’t finish, swimming, Disneyland trip, and beach trip. We will watch our favorite movies. Also, sleep in and stay up late playing board games.

It’s difficult to know what to do with my 6 and 8 yo living in Las Vegas. We do go to the spray grounds at 9 am by 11 am it’s 110 degrees. I don’t like them on screens so I took them away. I do give them the screen 1 day a week in summer. My daughter already read 4 novels and we’re only into week 2 of summer. Only a few indoor play places in the city. Like I’m exhausted and feeling guilty for lack of things to do!! They are used to structure so this is weird, we have homeschooled before I don’t know how you do it!

Thank you! Finishing my first year (kindergarden) and I'm definitely done after this week until next season. We are both burnt out but very happy with his accomplishments even though we didn't finish all curriculums . Will only work on reading and reading lots of books together this summer including independent chores. Happy summer!

I'm restarting homeschooling next week after our serious car accident with my TBI so my therapist wants me to start to see if I can do it. I have until mid July to know if we need to enroll them into the private school. Please pray for us that it goes well.

Buying new curriculum just for summer is wild to me. We year-round school, but even in that we do most work on a standard schedule and just add LOF math and lots of art thru the summer. I can't imagine the stress of cramming in a curriculum or the guilt of not finishing it.

Thank you for the encouragement - my husband really encouraged me to take a true summer break. We got so burnt out by the end of the school year and even though we didn’t “finish” everything, we just needed a break. We’ve already done so much of our summer bucket list - bowling, the pool, the children’s museum! We’re in AZ and it’s crazy hot so not sure how much outside time we’ll have besides water play, but that’s okay. Now I know for next year that year round schooling does not work for us, so hopefully I can plan a bit better!

Year round can work for different seasons of life too! its not working for us now, but has been wonderful in the past and could in the future! So sweet of your husband to be so supportive and encouraging!
