What I don't understand is that they HAVE 4:3 Blu-Ray, why do they keep re-releasing the bad 16:9 version from 2013? Sure, the 4:3 Blu-Ray are also bad, but they're still a little better and it would literally cost them NOTHING to use those instead. Hell, use the same boxart if you don't want to use the Steel Box or design a new design for regular a Blu-Ray case and just change the discs, I don't care, but please stop using widerscreen for Dragon Ball (and Kai proved that widescreen CAN work, they're just doing it incredibly badly). I have the original release of the Blu-Ray Season Set, but that's just because I wanted a physical version for my collection, they're horrible to watch.

This is why i just stick to the original dvd singles instead of remasters and blu ray plus rock the dragon and Faulconer openings

@@RadarForce like the way Funimation re-releases DBZ and DBGT is horrible they redub it and they zoom in and try to make it look good makes it 20 times worse Kai tries the same thing but again it's censored with blood and violence adds swearing and re draws and paints certain scenes to make it pop but looks horrible the actual way of watching dragon ball in in my eyes are the blue bricks because the original run that aired on toonami is hard to find but blue bricks don't have problems thankfully rock the dragon edition because it has the original dub and rock the dragon opening the DVD singles from Ginyu to kid Buu saga of z uncut with the original Funimation dub no redubs with Faulconer music already default audio with its opening and the singles of GT with that iconic step into the grand tour opening

I don’t have a Funimation or Crunchyroll subscription and that’s why I’m collecting Dragon Ball in dvd and Blu-ray. I’ve been getting the Funimation Season sets at Walmart since they are cheaper there, plus it’s 3 seasons for 32 dollars. But I hate the Widescreen format, but the season sets are decent tho, but when I have enough money I’ll get the Z Kai Blu-ray’s and the 4:3 steelbooks. Anyhow, the Funimation season sets are how I’ve been watching DBZ.

Im sure someone at Funimation/ Crunchyroll was like "you know what the fans really want? The Original dragon ball and dragon ball gt on bluray , they will absolutely love that." And then the head guy was like " oh yeah for sure but you know what they would absolutely buy? Those 16:9 blurays of dbz everyone loves widescreen and 4:3 like those steelbook is so outdated so 16:9!!!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Decent art,and I understand where you’re coming from as a collector. I just cannot justify spending almost $200 on a set I have twice already. I’m done spending money on dragon ball unless it’s an actual new release.

It’s a sad state when you get better quality from a DVD release to a Blu-Ray over a decade later. Fact is there’s no definitive way to officially watch English language DBZ without some kind of tampering with the aspect ratio (cutting a large percentage of the image out) or the green overlay. Best way to watch DBZ is to download fan edits of the dragon box release with the funimation dub. Either way; I’ll never officially own the dubs that hit my nostalgia (ocean and Westwood dubs) not like they’ll ever release all of those officially. Totally get the collectors side of things but I just own Kai on Blu-ray and I’ll just watch the other versions on streaming services or fan made edits.
