Probably, the deepest train station in the world, now no more in use, was in Italy. It was right in middle of the old Apennine Base Tunnel (1933). Named "Stazione della precedenze", it had 1863 steps to go up and down (roughly 1 hour walk). The old base tunnel is still in use, togheter with the new high speed base tunnel, but no trains stop there anymore.

Hi there. Amazing video! The Doai Station tunnel is similar to The Third Tunnel of Aggression found underground at the border between the North Korea and South Korea, which has more or less the same depth underground. I'm not sure if you agree with me. I'm a bit claustrophobic but I was able to overcome this challenge for the first time when I entered this tunnel. If only the local government of this prefecture hire some artists to paint this underground with interesting anime characters, or any form of graffiti. It will be a hit for tourists, making this area popular again, boosting the economy of this place. Just my opinion. But what do you think? Thanks for this video by the way. Keep it up!

Whaou !😮 Je n’ai jamais vu un chemin souterrain qui descend aussi long. De plus, s’il n’y a pas de toilettes sous terre c’est très embêtant pour les touristes ! @RobertMorgan
@RobertMorgan 10 ай бұрын
It would be very fitting with what I understand about the culture to leave that small stream running next to the stairway permanently as a feature. Perhaps add some pools to it with koi at intervals on the way down. The water infiltration is not a problem that will ever go away, it can and will only get worse, might as well integrate it as an architectural feature.

It was not a railway station but a military object under the pretext of a public facility. And it is still a military facility. It was built in 1931-1936 (the exact date is unknown) before WWII and was extended in the 1960s. It is still, as you can see, being maintained. Take a look at the typical bunker ceilings, cable routing and even stairs. The location is also interesting: there is *nothing* around that would be a strategic target to attack. This "station" is in middle of nowhere. What is/was really in there is unknown.

Nice, but can they be used as bomb shelters too?
@mr.brickles
@mr.brickles Жыл бұрын
@@erikgstewart I guess, yes. The Moscow metro is built to simultaneously serve as a bunker/shelter, because the Moscow metro was built during the Stalin period. Even the conflict in Ukraine has shown that the Stalinist metro is not only very beautiful, but also ideal for shelter. And also the advantages of the Moscow and Minsk metros are that you can use free Internet there, there is a good connection even at great depths, and there are also shops and cafes. Many American or Japanese subways do not have this. And trains are more modern.
