Gundam Wing will always hold a very special place in my heart. It aired at 8pm every night after Dragonball Z in Canada when I was a child, and was the first Gundam I ever saw. It's what set me on this lifepath of weeb degeneracy of which I regret nothing. I thought the mobile suit designs were so cool, the story and characters were edgier and more adult than any cartoons I had seen up until that point, and it sparked a love of anime and mecha that continues to this day. I'm living in Japan right now and I just visited the giant Gundam Unicorn statue in Odaiba, where they have the most amazing figure shop called Gundam Base. I'm really bad at model building. I don't think I have the patience or dexterity required to make one as amazing as the one in this video, but it would be a dream to build an Altron Gundam (my fav.) or Deathscythe Hell, or a nice Talgeese of similar quality. Anyways, sorry for the rant, the nostalgia hit me hard there. I love both your channels, keep up the great work!

Fun fact, many of the suit designs from Gundam Wing, the Leo, Aeries, Tallgeese, are designed Haijame Katoki, this guy was know for his more militarized designed in the Gundam universe, his first work done in the manga Gundam Sentinel, but Wing was his first animated appearance. Now Katoki I has stayed in the Gundam Universe and when you see a "Ver Ka" kit, that's his redesign contributions, he's one of official mech designers in the Gundam universe. Your Dry-Brushing and inking are ON POINT. I find 1/144th detail work is much harder than 1/100th scale for my hands and skill set. Really well done! Heavy Arms was a great choice. Out of the time Prime Gundam Wing offerings (Wing, Endless Waltz) it is one of my favorite suits - falling only to Wing Zero Kai, Heavy Arms Kai and Epyon.
@striker8paints5 жыл бұрын
For those floppy hinged parts try some blue tac, aka that removable sticky putty you can get for posters, and work a bit down in the pivot points during assembly, you have to trial and error the amount when dry fitting. It tightens things up rather well without stressing the joint and lasts a long time, I have some 40k tanks that I did that to 10+ years ago and the moving parts are still holding in position but move easily when you want them to.
@eloquentsarcasm5 жыл бұрын
Damn Gundam, I spent 25 years or so of my life painting/sculpting 28mm miniatures but never really got into anything bigger than 68mm, these kits are MASSIVE. With small scale stuff, a ton of the shading/lighting has to be really over emphasized to make it even visible, but your stuff is so huge it becomes a much finer, blended effort to make it look good. You hack on yourself WAY too much bud, your work is outstanding.

Awesome video, I had no idea you had a channel for Gunpla. This is a nice little surprise discovery here :D I've been eyeballing this kit at my local hobby shop (and the X1 Ver Ka, or the ZZ Ver Ka, I have too many things on my wishlist). I'm a bit turned off by that Feeder Belt (like the tub that connects my Luna Gradeless 1/100's big gun, just falls out a ton) buuuut maybe I could deal with it? I'm trying to improve my own personal Gunpla skills so maybe it'd be a good test of skill dealing with the belt. I'm trying to move beyond snap building myself, just got into panel lining, applied decals for the first time recently too and now I'm trying to work up the courage to use my top coat (sorry if I'm going on a bit of a rant, Gunpla's just fun to talk about).

Nice review, Gundam. So the wing Mobile suits were really that much smaller than UC suits?
@Zufield5 жыл бұрын
On average, yeah. Late UC stories--F91, Crossbone, F90, Victory, and the like--also featured downsized mobile suits to the tune of 16 meters or so, due to "optimization" issues and the like, and the alternate universe shows up to Turn A--G, W, and X--simply kept the same smaller "footprint," as it were. In reality, this was mainly a cost-cutting measure by Bandai, since the animated stuff was just to promote new plastic crap. Smaller mobile suits equals smaller model kits equals less plastic that Bandai can shill for the same price. That said, do check out the F90 model kit line. Lots of interesting designs there. Hell, the F90 itself was functionally a prototype Strike Gundam, what with its different loadouts and all.
