It technically wasnt my first Gundam series but its the one I remember the most as a kid so I pretty much recognize it as my "first." (I'm asian Canadian so imported gundam stuff was easier to access for me in 90's) I always found the Operation meteor team comp (although they didn't coordinate) interesting. Wing is the "balanced" fighter with flight capabilties. Heavyarms is heavy long range support fire. Shenlong is the strongest close combat duelist. Deathscythe is close combat stealth unit and Sandrock is a close-medium range command unit.

I'll drink to that! When I was younger and saw a Deathscythe Hell Custom action figure on the pegs, ended up getting one and using him as Batman for abit before learning about the Gundam universe. Though to be fair, my knowledge was VERY limited at the time due not having Cartoon Network. Hell I was surprised they had Gundam magazines/catalogues and a trading card game back then.....I kinda miss those days now.

I have heavy nostalgia for them but the builds meh and they're small as hell. And yes I want a fucking Deathscythe Hell and an Altron MG not these mishmash EW kits (which I still bought) with their "special equipment kits" (igel, rousette, liaoya) as pbandai.

I have and have built this same kit...only because the only TV versions were at least 50% more on cost. I'll agree they are nothing special, but I do wish they went with the proper Double blade scythe for this kit. That was one of the biggest game changers for Deathscythe Hell was that upper beam being able to flip almost 90 degrees. Mine is pretty tight right now. The only thing I've noticed is the calf armor will slightly separate if you flex the knee completely but that just takes pinching it back together. To anyone wanting to purchase and build this kit, and if Gundam Wing was as influential on your interest in Gundam overall as well as the kits as it was for me then I would say take a little extra time on nub removal and sanding where parts of the armor meet as well as using your hobby knife to accentuate points where the larger pieces on the legs are one chunk of plastic and it will improve the look completely. Not even getting into scribing, just where the concave meets the convex portion.

Man, the Toonami spot for Gundam Wing. I have the original Death Scythe Hell non EW kit it suffers the same problem with the Cloak. I remember I had to super glue the back plate in order to get the Cloak to stay in place.

This really takes me back, as i got both the Deathscythe and Deathscythe Hell 1/144 kits from the 90's. While not all that bad, they do come with their issues. Yet, even with that, I much prefer the TV version of the Deathscyther Hell to its EW version.

to get the wings together, you kinda have to slide them into place, it doesn't snap together, least that's what i found on my kit

I await the review of the Proto Zero which I think is the best in the line, it makes some changes to the arms and has beautiful oob colors, does a good job holding its double rifle and shield better than the original Wing zero MG. Only issue is the wing binders aren't that posable (an obscure upgrade kit does exist if you look for it, by model legend)

I know it's been a week or so, but that Heavy Arms you have isn't the TV version Gundam. It's the Heavy Arms EW Kit. The purple one from endless waltz is the Heavy Arms Kai EW... or the Heavy arms we got in the latter half of the anime with the double gatling gun on the shield.

I have just huilt a kit. how do you panel line, is it just the full panel, or the edges thst create a shadow. I'm coming at this as a miniature painter. We don't panel line. Please help!

god i remember those days... :D toonami , also the other problem with dry transfers, if they get old..... they go brittle really bad when you try to rub them on the model, i have the amuro rey's zeta + and its dry transfers are horrible. the ones i got with my deathscythe were great though. i couldnt do the cloak pose neither. alot of my leg parts come off easily too :( there are tv versions of the wing kits but they are super old. there not even classified as master grade, i think they are high grade but 1/100 scale. i had one, it was bad lol, by the way gundam i tweeted you a facebook vid of my display, thanks for your inspiring setup, otaku was going to do the same thing you did, but he told me..."this other youtuber itsagundam made the repair bay before me, so i have to figure out something else" lol you are well known :D

I think the reason we don't see TV Versions of the wing kits is that Bandai doesn't own the visual rights outright and would have to licence the outstanding rights or share the profits(...and what has P-Bandai taught us about what Bandai thinks of that ) hence the EW redesigns and why Dragon Momoko had to put out the Deathscythe Hell Tv Ver
