The script for this movie is amazing. Every detail matters and theres so many twists. One of the most easily enjoyable movies ever, and plus one of the vest performances by Denzel Washington. Classic Edit: Im surprised u didnt notice that the one crazy ese is none other than tuco. Also snoop and dr dre r both in this movie as well as terry crews. Very stacked cast!

My favorite little detail is in the beginning scene during the phone call when the two main characters first speak. It doesn’t really stand out as meaningful on the first viewing, but the only real info that Alonzo asked Jake then was “”do you carry a backup gun””… Because now we know he was contemplating how he might have to kill him from the start.

It’s not shown a lot in the vid but one of my favorite recurring lines in this film is “you wanna go to jail or you wanna go home?!” And how Alonzo constantly boasts with and uses the phrase as a Pavlovian training tool to keep all the gangsters in line

Always love the reactions! I love how as the movie goes on, you start out thinking Alonzo is just a hard ass/unorthodox, to being corrupt, to being a flat out sociopath, which is what he truly is; phenomenal performances by both Denzel and Ethan Hawke.

Right? While you watch this film the first time, you really want to believe that Alonzo is not a bad guy. Maybe he's just a hardass who is schooling Jake. As the movie goes on you start to get your doubts about Alonzo, Then all doubt is removed.

denzel washington and ethan hawke is both so good in this movie... denzels role is based on a true cop named rafael perez. he was a corrupt LA police officer that did all kind of crazy shit. some people accuses him for being behind biggie smalls murder and accuses him for being a member of bloods:P. but this is one of my favorite movies for sure...denzel is also one of my favorite actors

Some of Alonzo's hood was filmed at the Imperial Courts housing project. One of the roughest gang territories ever. The only way this was possible was that director Antoine Fuqua actually cast real gang members in the film. Many of them can be seen when Alonzo pulls up to drop off the gifts to Smiley and later when Jake comes back for revenge.

Top 5 of all time for me, also my favourite performance by Denzel Washington. He genuinely *became* Alonzo Harris! I wish you recognised Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre earlier too haha. The gritty atmosphere and intense nature of the movie is immersive and amazing too. As soon as Still Dre began playing in Alonzo's lowrider, I immediately had GTA vibes. That was mind blowing on my first watch. The bathtub scene was edge of the seat stuff too, Cliff Curtis is a brilliant character actor too. The scene where Alonzo kills Roger hits hard too. This is Antoine Fuqua's masterpiece as a director.

A movie no one ever watches from Denzel is Out of Time. It's an amazing movie, but it's among so many other amazing movies so this and Fallen and others get lost in the cracks.
