Hanks is great and there’s a lot of good movies with him to list but here’s a few non Toy Story ones I always think of when I think of him: -Charlie Wilson’s War. Based on the true story of a party animal Congressman (Hanks) who teamed up with the CIA to supply weapons to Afghanis fighting the Soviet Union. - Catch Me If You Can. Hanks plays a FBI agent trying to hunt down a teen con man played by Leo DiCaprio. - a League of their Own. During World War II, men’s sporting leagues were paused while men went to war so they organized a pro league of women baseball players. Hanks plays a retired pro who coaches one of the teams and it’s one of his funniest roles. - The Terminal. Hanks is a European tourist that gets stranded in an airport terminal due to a diplomatic issue with his passport and basically turns the terminal into his new home.

Hey primate, been watching since ya started movie reactions. Have a question, I know you didn't watch alot of movies prior to the channel and as the years have gone on, I've noticed both your knowledge and appreciation have grown for films. What made you want to start Movie reactions and has the channel inspired you to maybe actually dive into filmmaking or films? Keep up the grind homie.

Just wanting to checkout more things and I was already doing youtube reactions so thought why not expand! It'd be cool to act in something one day but as far as filmmaking my self not much desire!@@sebastianlara7398

Castaway won 15 awards and got 2 Oscar nominations, including Hanks, of course. But Wilson should've definitely been nominated. A lot of balls tried out for that part. With his new Wilson at the end, he's kind of like Groot.
@follow_the_money_trail11 ай бұрын
Agreed, Wilson should've gone onto bigger and greater things but the pressures of overnight fame lead to alcohol and drug abuse. Wonder what he's doing now. 😢

Great movie but a couple of flaws. 1 - The ocean currents were strong enough towards the islandfor Chuck, the dead pilot and the FED ex boxes to wash up ashore pretty fast indicating the crash wasn't that far from the island. You would think someone might have checked out that island in the following weeks of rescue. He reached the island in a relatively short time from the crash site. 2 - When a plane crashes into the ocean, it creates a strong G force that should have squashed some of his internal organs, separating them from the blood vessels thus bleeding t death internally. 3 - At the welcome home party, you would think they would try to avoid ordering seafood from the catering service, since its all he had for 4 yrs. I think chuck was more prepared to have some italian food, pizza, lasagna, Even mexican food. Or a good steak dinner,

Genius movie making. The best plane crash I’ve ever watched and most of the movie one person alone.
@Artificialintelligentle5 ай бұрын
Plane crash was intense and well done, however, that type of impact in the ocean would have squashed some of his internal organs and separated them from his blood vessels thus bleeding to death internally.

Couple of things from an aircrew guy: - “Ditch” = going down or attempting to land in the water // “Bailout” = having to parachute out of an aircraft - Every emergency life raft has a survival kit tethered to it, which includes an ELD (emergency locator device), signal mirror, flares, waterproof matches, water filtration pump, etc. Remember that yellow tube looking thing that got caught on the aircraft wreckage as it was sinking and then eventually snapped off of the life raft? That was the survival kit.
@svnsetsomnia82807 ай бұрын
Why would they put the survival kit on such an outrageously long rope?? Wouldn’t it be better for it to be directly in the raft?
@Artificialintelligentle5 ай бұрын
The irony of this movie. 1 - Unfastening his seat belt to get the watch, SAVED his life. BUT, 2 - That type of impact into the ocean might have squashed some of his internal organs. he G force was huge. 3 - As Kelly told him,many ships looking for survivors of the plane crash, you would think they would have fancied the idea of perhaps checking out the island, since the currents were flowing that way with the packages and the dead pilots body washing up ashore, just a day or two after the crash, and chuck seemingly arriving at that island not too long after the crash .
@KevyNova11 ай бұрын
I’ve always interpreted this movie that his entire journey was meant to bring him together with his true love. At the beginning, we see her and know that she’s being cheated on. Then for four years, hers is the one package that he doesn’t open. Finally at the end, they are both single and broken but he delivers the package and that’s how they meet. I always imagine that in the end, he’s glad about everything he went through because it brought him to her.

People really don't realize how the mind works when it's strained ,and broken. Wilson was his sole sliver of sanity. There is also the island itself...it acts as a safe place, but you have to bring yourself to leave the safe place which sounds illogical. And letting Wilson go was having to let go of that last thing your ego was holding onto. He had to willingly choose to let go of the last thing he has, and doing so is when a great suffering ends, cause there is nothing left to attach to. You have to come to peace with the realization of...I don't like this, but that doesn't matter, I have to do this.

If you haven't seen many Tom Hanks movies, you have to check The Terminal, Sally, Philadelphia, Apollo 13... and you have probably seen Green Mile. All are great movies.

I live in the middle of nowhere. Theres a town 3 miles from my property, but the population is less than 500. I have to go 30 mins to the nearest grocery store. Its not ideal going that far, but its acceptable. Buy land sooner rather than later. Corporations are not only buying up single family homes, theyre buying land, too.

You've seen Forrest Gump, and The Green Mile (I know for sure, because I remember your very heartfelt reaction to that one, I can relate). More Tom Hanks worth exploring are: Saving Private Ryan, Philadelphia, Catch Me If You Can (he co-stars in that one), Big, and of course, Toy Story.
@raymeedc11 ай бұрын
Took a long time to complete this film, as Hanks had to undergo an actual body change in order to realistically portray the difference that would have occurred over the course of 4 years. He stated much later on that the rapid change he forced on his body damaged his health for a long time.

I know you have to cut things for KZbin copyright, but I was really looking forward to your reaction to the scene where Chuck talks to his friend about his time on the island and what he learned from his experience. the scene where he loses Wilson always makes me emotional! that was one of the few things that kept him sane on that island. RIP Wilson! ❤
@LexoG3311 ай бұрын
I've been watching this movie since I was a little kid, but I think I get it now. He would have died within a few years if he stayed on that island. He could have got a cut on his foot that got infected with some tropical bacteria and he would have been done in a week or so. But! If he could just get onto an ocean current that's used as a major trade route, he could be found at sea!

1. It's a good thing he wasn't strapped in that plane. He would have died. 2. Can you imagine how much back pay this guy is going to get? He's not a rank and file worker either. He's much higher up the food change. 3. To make himself look like an average out of shape middle aged man Tom Hanks didn't exercise and allowed himself to grow pudgy. Production was then halted for a year so he could lose fifty pounds, work out and grow out his beard for his time spent on the deserted island. 4. Talk about using realistic tactics to survive. 5. Wilson is exactly what he needed to maintain sanity. 6. In a recent interview Hanks says that Chuck went back to Bettina Wings. Inside the opening scene package, among other things, were her divorce papers. 7. When he's talking to his friend and says, "I had power over nothing...." is what gets to me. 8.Tom Hanks is the GOAT of my lifetime. I'm 62 years old. 9. If you haven't already, you need to do the GOAT in the GOAT, "The Green Mile". FWIW Morse Code SOS= Dit dit dit, Dah dah dah, Dit dit dit
