Most of them were trainees before they joined the surival show Boys Planet that formed ZB1. Hanbin was a professional dancer before and Jiwoong already debuted in 2016 in a different group but after their disbandment he became an actor and then joined Boys Planet. Gunwook already participated in a survival show before but there he got eliminated.

just for context about the young and rich thing with ricky: so before boys planet aired every trainee had short promotional videos posted on youtube, so viewers of the show could get to see everyone and know a little bit more about them. in one of the promotional vids where everyone was supposed to introduce themself for one minute, ricky said “young and rich tall and handsome im charisma boss baby ricky” and it kinda blew up lol. it became an ongoing joke because it made ricky really popular amongst viewers of the show and its still such an iconic moment tbh, as someone whos favorite became ricky because of that video😭

Js to state a few facts ab his family background: in one of his predebut pics u can see that he's posing in front of a ferrari, his mom owns a commerce fashion company, he was seen wearing 100k worth of clothes while they were in boys plant, he owns 2 watches that we know of that alone cost 80k, he went to go study abroad in la (the reason why he's so good in english), his hometown is shanghai china which is known to be a highly developed area and a crazy expensive place, he's also seen owning multiple stuff and bags of ultra luxury brands, etc.

Bro for your insight (cause you look damn confused as of now) ZB1 was formed through a trainee survival program called Boys Planet, where 98 trainees participated and only the top 9 after 3 elimination rounds became a member by Fan votes. A little knowledge on the show will help you understand theirlore better. Also most of the members were at different places before the show Hanbin and Matthew knew each other as they had had trained together, Ricky Yujin Gyuvin and Hao come from the sam agency, Jiwoong had debuted once in 2016 and has been part of various debut projects and is also an actor, Taerae and Gunwook were also trainees at different agencies.

Matthew and Hanbin are close, Gyuvin, Zhanghao, Yujin, and Ricky are all under Yuehua so they trained together for about like 3+ years, but the others have known each other for only a year but they are super close so I guess that’s why their chemistry is so good. + Ricky is actually Rich/Wealthy, his mom is a model and owns a clothing brand “Role Model”and I think his dad owns like a company? That’s many ZB1 inside jokes: e.g. Mother dance by Hanbin; Hao’s Birthday party ‘Intepol’ & the gift from TaeRae so sensible! Ricky & Gyuvin interactions are just like Cat vs Puppy! Gunwook always being teased as his performance during Boy Planet first audition in 1st esp , his look horrifying, but he is just a giant baby in real. TaeRae vocal is incredible, but he is the only ‘T’ person in the group, somehow straight forward, TaeRae even remind his fans their banner was held upside down during music show. Matthew is Canadian mind set, so he always speak something unexpectable and funny. Enjoy their vibes, they are much closer than real brothers.

9:59 so basically back when boys planet was happening taerae used to play the guitar and sing for his roommates and other people from the room next to taerae came over to listen to him playing the guitar. so in the clip taerae is playing the guitar and YUJIN who came over sang a song that he made up. you can see a bottle of water on the bed in front of him so he just started singing waaaterrrr pencillll to the melody taerae was playing. hope this helps 🥹

Here is a little info based on what you were confused about: They were participants of the survival show Boys Planet, where they placed as the top 9. Hao and Hanbin were fighting for #1 basically the entire show (besides Matthew at the beginning). They ended up getting close due to that. Hao ended up winning #1, followed by Hanbin. Matthew and Hanbin actually knew each other for quite a while before the show, which is why they were joking about if Matthew was jealous of Hanbin and Hao (because they act flirty a lot and at the start of the show they kept bringing up Matthew and Hanbins previous friendship). The Jiwoong comment was because during the show they started showing Matthew and Jiwoong being closer than Matthew was with Hanbin at the time. Yujin is the youngest but he acts pretty mature and introverted for the most part (even though his MBTI was actually E). Technically Hao was the only introvert. Ricky is actually rich. His mom, I believe, is a model who has her own company, and his dad makes a lot too. Jiwoong was actually a BL actor before this! He also debuted I think 2 (maybe 1) times before this, but they disbanded. Honestly ZB1 doesn’t act straight very often… lots of love triangles😂 Both Hao and Ricky are from China, and Matthew is from Canada. Matthew and Ricky are actually pretty close now since they are the only 2 that speak fluent English. Gyuvin is quite the menace, especially around Yujin, Matthew and Gunwook. Matthew swears. A lot. 😂 Gyuvin instigates everything lol I’d recommend watching their funniest moment videos or an information video about them so it makes sense! Their ranks in order were: Hao, Hanbin, Matthew, Ricky, Gunwook, Taerae, Gyuvin, Jiwoong, then Yujin. They are all so sweet and hilarious!! omg hi baby zerose! ofc boys planet is important in their journey but it's a very long watch and doesn't really showcase all of their personalities that well. as an alternative (or rather addition) I recommend watching the predebut side quests vids from letters of rachel, the zb1 inside jokes videos (first three that pop up, esp the newest) and the boysplanet iceberg video to get some context to boysplanet refs! after that I cannot recommend you watching all of their variety stuff enough, esp amazing saturday (3 eps), camp zerobaseone (their first show after the group was formed) and their own show zbtv! they are the funniest loveliest guys ever ❤

ZEROBASEONE is a group formed from a survival show called Boys Planet. The last clip shows when they were quarantined on Boys Planet. You should see their performance on Boys Planet, they are very cool. They originally came from different agencies, but as members of ZEROBASEONE they are under the agency Wakeone Entertainment. When Matthew jokingly said he was jealous of Hanbin and ZhangHao's chemistry, it was because from the start of the audition, Matthew and Hanbin looked very close. They have known each other for a long time before Boys Planet.They previously trained at the Cube Entertainment agency then left, and then are at different agencies now individually but they are very close like brothers. Zhaghao gyuvin yujin and Ricky originally came from Yuehua entertainment. This is the first time in a survival show that 4 people from the same agency can debut. ZhangHao became the first center of a survival show who was not Korean. Gunwook and Gyuvin are a year apart, they were very close when they became a team on the third mission performing the song En Garde (This song is one of the songs specifically created for the third mission of the Boys Planet survival show).

So basically they came from the MNET survival show BOYS PLANET some of them trained in the same company e.g yuehuaz (zhanghao, ricky, gyuvin and yujin) so theyve known each other for a while. Most bonds grew during BOYS PLANET and when gunwook says 5th place he means he placed P05 on the show. p01 - Zhanghao (Chinese- first foreigner/non korean to win first place) p02 - Sung Hanbin (Korean) p03 - Seok Matthew (Korean-Canadian) p04 - Shen Ricky (Chinese) p05 - Park Gunwook (Korean) p06 - Kim Taerae (Korean) p07 - Kim Gyuvin (Korean) p08 - Kim Jiwoong (Korean) p09 - Han Yuijin (Korean) The boys later debuted on July 10th 2023 with their debut album Youth In the Shade and title track "In Bloom". All the members where trainees at some point, JiWoong 2 times debut with different Kpop groups and this one is his third time debuting, also some web dramas and Korean BL dramas in his belt, Hanbin back up dancer for BTS, trainee and student now graduated from Korean University in Kpop, Zhan Hao, University student in China and trainee, he plays violin and I think also piano, Mathew university student in Canada, trainee and dancer, Taerae trainee, Ricky trainee, Guyvin trainee, Gunlock trainee and Yukon trainee... they all participate in Boys Planet, where popular voting choose them for debut together.

And he entered college at 17. But then he decided that he didnt want to pursue Geoscience and took up the violin. Well zb1 came from thee survival show called boys planet there were almost 96 trainee at the time so the leader sung hanbin was an active backup dancer for bts as well he is a professional dancer and then kim jiwoong the oldest was a very famous BL actor was also an idol years ago but he wasn't ready at that time so he became an actor but now he finally is an idol then comes the two Chinese members called ricky and zhanghao and korean members kim gyuvin and han yujin all four were from the same company and audition in boys planet all were talented singers and dancers .then comes kim taerae and gunwook who also normally auditioned they are very talented dancers and singer and rapper as well and lastly Seok Matthew who is from canada he is also a singer rappers and a dancer absolutely great .also Matthew and sung hanbin are best friends from the very start before the pre debut as well and.han yujin the maknae he literally started learning dancing in ayear and came to boys planet and yes zb1 are absolutely close to eachother since they trained together in boys planet and yes ricky is actually very rich so thats why he say i am young and rich tall and handsome ricky 😂❤so yeah thats the story of zero one base .they are really precious absolutely ❤

So actually zb1 debuted through a survival show(boys planet) where 98 trainees from korea and other countries participated and 9 of them debuted. ZHANGHAO the Chinese member came 1st in the finals he's from china he was a teacher like he played violin(he plays it so well you can check his MAMA performance), JIWOONG the oldest did debut in 2016 but i think the group disbanded or something then he became an actor and then came to boysplanet, HANBIN the leader was a dancer before and he was 1st in every round in boysplanet except for the final(also he does great waacking), MATTHEW he's Canadian and like the funniest he's one of the members who can speak fluent english obv. matthew and hanbin were traniees of the same company so they're close old friends. RICKY the other chinese member the young and rich tall and handsome and yes he's actually rich rich he can speak fluent English cuz he was raised in LA, then we have GYUVIN the great body proportions guy he's not js handsome but also sweet he has great sense of humour he's down to earth , then TAERAE the sassy and funny guy he has amazing vocals i swear he sings so beautifully and he's js funny for no reason, GUNWOOK the tough and strong looking guy is the second youngest of the group he might look like someone you shouldn't mess with but actually he's super sweet cutie patootie he's so caring, then we have the youngest YUJIN the quiet and introvert he's like the quiet mature youngest ngl gunwook seems more like a maknae then him he's also funny can make savage comments to tease the older members, he's so hardworking trying his best as he could and everyone adores him. P.s- everyone in zb1 is so talented everyone is a great dancer singer rapper they're so funny literally everyone is funny and have a great personality. Their age as of today: JIWOONG- 25(1998) ZHANGHAO- 23(2000) HANBIN- 22(2001) TAERAE- 21(2002) MATTHEW- 21(2002) GYUVIN- 19(2004) RICKY- 19(2004) GUNWOOK- 19(2005) YUJIN- 16(2007) Also their fandom name is ZEROSE
