Green River Full Proof Bourbon Whiskey!

I have the Green River Wheated and love it. I'm going to get this one asap. I talked to my local store yesterday and they're going to get some in.

So I found Green River full proof on sale at Binny's for $39.99. Takes a while to get used to the heat of high proof, for example, Rare Breed which I love gives a lot of heat for me, the Green River, I didn't find that hot which is kind of crazy. I think this is great.

The chips I want are Ruffles All Dressed. They had 'em here a few years ago, and then they disappeared. But recently I've developed a craving for 'em.

I tried the regular bourbon and it was just ok. I am going to try the wheater and rye but won't buy the bourbon again. If I see this I'd buy and try the price point is good. Nice review.

Love Green River! Used to be stationed at Fort Campbell and use to got there often. Sadly i have had to move and now not in a state where i can not get Green River 😢

Green River was always readily available on the shelves when O lived near Denver, but I never got around to trying it (The low price put me off, which sounds stupid now as I type it). And now I’ve moved to Maine, and can’t find Green River on the shelf anywhere (even across the border in New Hampshire). So don’t take distribution for granted.

Back in the 80s Keebler had potato skin chips. They were thick. Good for dipping

Why is there such stigma when it comes to adding water to bourbon? This is very normal with Scotch whisky because there is a recognition that palettes are different. Sara is doing the right thing and trying the whiskey neat, adding a couple of drops of water and trying the whisky, adding a little more to open it up at the best ABV for her tastes. Thank you Sara for demonstrating this

Nothing wrong with it at all but generally if you are buying a barrel or full proof you're a person who doesn't add water

We agree with @mosescuh but there's also nothing wrong with it, obviously, even if it's barrel-proof. We typically enjoy higher proofs and even at one time we set an arbitrary rule that if it wasn't over, say 110 proof, we wouldn't consider adding water, but that's just how we do it. We think adding water, if you feel like it, especially if it's not hitting your palate quite right but even if you just like to experiment with proofs to find the way you like it the best, is a great thing to do!

I try most of mine neat, then try one in an Old Fashioned, and occasionally with water drops. At first, I was against this. Then I realized I have three ways to enjoy my brown liquor, all giving me a different experience.

Sorry if mentioned I’m video but Anyone know why the full proof store picks are all 119 proof and this one is 117? They change entry proofs? Cause full proof is barrel entry proof isn’t it?

It can be but doesn’t have to be. It can also be the proof of the batch with no water added.

@@WhiskyForBeginners In theory, yes. We think that would be a better title for it really. But there’s no industry standard definition for any of these terms (much like small batch doesn’t have a definition) so I guess they get it call it whatever they think sounds better 🤷.

I’m sure I’ll pick one up just to try it but I have a feeling that it wouldn’t fare well against Rare Breed, Old Forester 1920 and Elijah Craig A124 which are all within 3 proof points of this bottle… (plus I get Rare Breed & OF 1920 for under $50 near me).
