Nobody is going to see this, but I saw Cody's first "Cody Trains" video in January and it inspired me to sign myself up for a 10k. I have never ran over 1.5 miles in my life and I just ran 3.75 miles yesterday in under 35 minutes. I run my race April 1st and, to be honest, I would have never ran this ran if I never saw this channel. Last year Cody inspired my to start working on my KZbin channel and take it seriously. In 2023 I will be monetized on KZbin and run my first race ever thanks to Cody. Didn't mean to suck you off, but just wanted to show some appreciation. You've inspired me in more ways than you know. Thanks man ✊

Congrats on the wedding Cody! From watching you as a frat bro on Vine, to a community commentator on KZbin, and now a middle aged man trying to run far I guess still on KZbin but now hitched, we have seen you grow! *edit* also in regards to knee pains look to doing some light resistance work for your glutes and quads to make sure they are activating properly. Icing is largely agreed upon to be an outdated way of treatment as your body is inflamed for a reason, trying to heal. Best of luck!

honestly the craziest thing about Cody and Kelsey is that whenever creators open up about their relationships, you always think "this is cute but its gonna suck when they break up" but i NEVER ONCE had that thought with Cody and Kelsey. ive literally been watching Cody since Vine and listened to Insanely Chill while the mystery of taco tuesday girl was happening, and now theyre fucking married??? what a crazy storyline this has been

Hey Cody! Ex swimmer here, the point of your coach changing your stroke is to make it more efficient and allow you to properly rotate and reach out as far as you can before preforming your next stroke. If you’re feeling pain you may be under or over rotating or putting your elbow in a compromised position

"If I listened to my body all the time I'd never train." Yup that's exactly how I feel. While I think it's great that we've moved away from the "No Pain, no Gain" mindset of yesteryear, it feels like we're going too far in the other direction. Seems like everyone is hammering down "REST!!!" far too often now, as if everyone is on the brink of overtraining. The body is incredibly adaptive. Obviously, rest is important. But if you want to see your fitness improve above a snails pace, you DO have to push yourself when you can. There has been countless times where I've woken up achy and a little sore, but working out/running on that day made me feel way better. You just gotta have self awareness. Rest hard, train hard.

Rotate your hips out of the way when you pull through on your swim stroke and keep a consistent kick. Your rhythm change is okay but it’ll really hurt your shoulders if your body stays flat on the surface of the water. It’ll also help to keep your finger tips down and elbow high especially at the start of your pull.🏊🏼‍♀️

Swimmer here! The point of that style of swimming is for your momentum and it is proper technique for freestyle. Once you get the hang of it you'll definitely drop time and you'll cover more ground during your laps. Your muscles will adjust too!

^^^well said here, as someone who struggled to make sure my legs were the "motor" of my freestyle and relied too much on my upper body for a long time, let the timing come more naturally as you continue to get used to it. Use your arms to match the pace your legs are setting with your kicks is a good way to think about it, and instead of worrying about getting your arm back around from a timing standpoint, use it as more of a glide and follow through to accentuate your strokes and get maximum distance for your movements

Swimmer here! been swimming for 12 years+ and about to go to college in the fall. But the point of the change in stroke I believe is to focus on your distance per stroke (dps). This type of stroke is popular among the longer distance events where as the other stroke is better better for shorter and faster pace swims. I think the new stoke will help save you energy in the long run and will get you into a better groove throughout your race. It'll take some time to get used to but you can get through it! GOOD LUCK CODY CHOO CHOOO!

Swim head here, your coach is trying to teach you catch-up freestyle. Although I wouldn't recommend that style of swimming in an open water setting (especially not an Iron Man race) it's a great drill in the pool for lengthening your stroke and working on having a glide. Hips sinking is always a sign of either not enough kicking or head position. Your hips naturally drop when you lift your head up so maybe experiment with head position.

Hellooo college swimmer here and swim coach!!! When you are doing the stroke that you demonstrated was the "correct" way I would like to challenge that by saying that there isn't one perfect way to swim freestyle, however, there are more efficient ways. When you swim freestyle you want to also focus on hip rotation that will elongate your catch, your catch is focused on how much water you are able to pull back when you take a stroke. You also want to make sure that your hands don't actually meet in the middle like you were showing, that is actually what is called "catch-up drill" to help focus on and feel the water you are actively pulling. When you swim freestyle and you take a breath, you want to make sure your whole face isn't coming out of the water but rather turning to the side where your ear can almost rest on your arm and only one eye or goggle is coming out of the water. Hope some of this helps!

I swam in college at UVA. That stroke your coach is making you do is called “catch up” drill because your arm is catching up to the other. I would have so see the stroke in the water to see if it was more efficient. I helped a friend of mine last year with his swimming for his half Ironman. A few things that helped his stroke was working on the hand entrance and the angle of your wrist, this kind of affects how your forearm is able to pull the most water (play around with it) . Additionally, make sure you’re rotating- this will allow your arm to travel farther at the top of your stroke, and in turn pull more water. One other tip is to utilize equipment! A pull buoy and paddles (easy to find on Amazon) are good to work on your pulling- they also help you use your lats. This is a long ass comment but your swimming has been improving a ton!! Congrats dude

The finish on your stroke really helps, it helps push you forward and keep your rhythm. Just like throwing a basketball the follow through after you throw a ball is just like the finish on your stroke

for the bike stuff, if you haven't done any bike maintenance and you've been training like crazy you definitely need to clean and grease your chain. with how much you right you might need to repack the bearings in your wheels too. Not too hard to do yourself if you dont mind dealing with stuff like that.
