I watched a similar video from a different person and was SO confused I can’t tell you. I’m a beginner but I couldn’t even follow the super simple plan. Yours actually made sense because you demonstrated and explained several things she considered things you’d already know. Thank you!

I used a smaller hook, so it turned out a bit stiffer, and I also chained 31 in the beginning (so 22 Half double crochets and 9 slip Stiches for me). Just made this. “My experience no hate I appreciate this as a guide.” So if you have a large head 23” it’s going to be 36 rows. BUT I did the length of around 11 in or chain of 27 and it’s a perfect guy hat. Def should be longer for women unless you like the style of a shorter hat.

How would we adjust for different sizes? Do you have a formula used so I can calculate how many HDC and Slip stiches I need when I change the chain amount? I love this pattern so much and it took me a few times and i ended up switching to a lighter yarn while i learn the pattern so i can see better. Making my boyfriend one for christmas so for now im adjusting how many rows I do and hoping it fits with me measuring often.

If the yarn was thinner would there need to be more chains?

i love this but is it optional to not do the 7 slip stitches in row 2 and the other rows after it? sorry if you don’t understand i don’t know how to explain it. if i don’t do it would it ruin the pattern?

You don’t necessarily have to do them but if you don’t your hat will be pretty bulky at the top when you close it up since it’s bulky/thick yarn

The biggest hook size I have is an 8mm. Is that okay?

I have a big head and have to take that in account and add an extra row somewhere with these hat patterns. I would have really appreciated some measurements.

Hey quick question are you chaining 1 after every row or only the hdc row?

The Chunky Yarn Beanie pdf wasn't in any of the links you listed, just the "basic beanie" which is not the same. Do you have a pdf for this hat?

Everyone’s head size is a little different so I would say to check the panel stretch on the head before you sew ❤️

I’ve not worked with super chunky yarn yet, did it only need 1 skein for the beanie?

I used JUST over one skein of the Lion brand wool yarn! I had to buy a second skein just to add the last three rows 🥰💓

@itserinb OK, so this should have been mentioned in the description or something. I frogged mine, used tighter tension AND a smaller hook. Still not enough. So I said screw it and bought another skein.
