As a Brit, muggy is a weather slang term. It refers to humid type weather. I know mug is an idiot but never heard muggy in that context. I would say this should be catagorized as 'modern slang' or 'gangster wannabe slang'. These aren't all traditional slang terms.

The Mug/Muggy definition is slightly incorrect - Mug = A person who is stupid and easily deceived by other people. Muggy = unpleasantly warm and humid weather.

He couldn't get it because the presenter is pronouncing 'arsed' with a non-rhotic UK dialect. Key is hearing it as /ahssed/, which is not how Americans say 'assed'. But he has heard people with non-rhotic UK dialects say 'asked' that sounds like /ahssed/ to him so he thinks the presenter means 'asked', not 'arsed' or 'assed'..

I think most of us carry around a lot of assumptions that we don't normally examine. Being willing to question yourself is a good trait. The American assumption is a stereotype, but it's more understandable since the Americans export so much of their stupidity.
