I love how you started by saying that this video was about the things you didn't like about Myrtle and it turned into things that you love about Myrtle.😅

Hey Guys awesome vids, Just wanted to let you know that you inspired us to renovate a 1972 Viscount van with the curved front and back windows. Well absolutely loved it and now we have fully renovated 4 of them. 1972, 1975, 1975 & the best one of them all a 1968. All these vans are at our home away from home near Wilson’s Promontory Vic. Thanks so much for your inspiration as I have possibly another three to renovate. Cheers Scott & Tammy

Roller rocker suspension has been around for a long time. It will go almost anywhere if you control, air pressure in tyres, speed & your right foot. Quite a few completing Gibb River road etc. Even a you tube video of a repairer in WA changing back to roller rocker from independent on his own van.

I didn’t realise they’re that capable!!
@mikeandveronicataylor4098 сағат бұрын
Yup agree entirely, our 2015 19'6 with roller rocker has been down the Birdsville, Oodnadatta and Tanami tracks with no issue and a 'few tracks' that aren't on the maps ! Drop your tyre pressurs and drive to conditions and all is good!

Thank you for this ‘review’ of Myrtle. After watching all your renovations it’s so helpful to hear your honest lived experience of those decisions you made.

hi guys you can get an exhaust fan unit from bunnings it has charcoal filters built in which are replaceable. it can be switched over to an outside vent . the brand we bought was a Bellini. it works great, has a built in light also 3 speed fan. keep up the great videos, love the van. beautiful couple.

Ooo thanks for this I’ll have a look!

Hey Jack, the water hammer in the pipe's is likely caused by the mixer taps, they are very much either on or off, not really a soft closing valve. You can get a surpressor from bunnings and T it into the pipes behind the shower, it'll fit in the cavity you have there. Good vid guys, great tips. Safe travels guys.🤙
@jasonbarnes56059 сағат бұрын
I think the suspension would be fine Off road, it's the rest of the van I would be concerned about. Dust and bugs getting in are the other two issues I would not like to deal with. Someone please sponsor these guys and give them a new van! They would be great promoters of your products. !

One option for positive pressurisation is a 100mm boat bilge fan and washable pod filter. You can install it in a cupboard. All for under $200

I use rock lights with rubber mounts around my Patrol and it works great for camping and security. I got mine from Terralume which came with 8 lights and a control box and works straight off the 12v. Thought I would suggest it for you guys.

Hi Jack and Megan great build on Myrtle. You should have a look at Stedi for outside lighting as they are small and compact, but can throw a great light.

Hey guys I live in a caravan here in NZ and I just Love what youve done with Mertle.. A couple of ideas for you...have you thought about magnetic or Velcro fly screens. A good upholsterer would be able to sew you up some. And I use Infared LED lighting that sticks to my ceiling with magnets and small metal bits that double side tape on to the ceiling. They are USB chargable. Theres loads of Outside USB LED options available too. Worth a look 😊 Ive just bought a diesel heater for my caravan too so Im looking forward to setting it up 😊 😊😊

Wow! After such a major 1st caravan build, those negatives you mention are certainly only minor issues. If they're all you're unhappy with, you should congratulate yourselves with being so successful!!! And thinking through possible remedies, they can all be fixed at small cost and with not a lot of effort. For example, the toilet problem can be rectified by turning the toilet around so your knees are facing the bathroom door. The rear window dust problem, seal it shut, you've got 2 other windows over your bed. The cooktop exhaust fan, put a 12v fan in the front wall with a hatch door on the outside for when driving. A custom build/prototype needs testing and perfecting, and you both now have the experience and the skills to make that all happen. Looking forward the the perfecting videos, and congratulations again for being so successful!

I'm loving Myrtle! I'm at the door/drawer front stage of my reno. What thickness ply did you use and what would you use next time? Have you thought about using the DIY magnetic flyscreens? you can buy kits from Bunnings. Happy travels

In America, back before Winnebago's and slide on Truck Campers were a thing, Companies would convert Caravans into Front Wheel Drive Car/Campers by grafting the front of a Car onto the Chassis where the A-Frame is, and you would drive from inside the Caravan looking out the front Window, there's still some examples on the internet, along with other crazy ideas, one being the VW Bugger, that went on a VW Bug floor and turned it into a Camper Van, a product of mans ingenuity and want to travel, started a industry that's still going strong.

Hi jack and Megan I have a cubicle in my caravan and could not carry or plumb water so instead have a sponge shower (no shower)

If you have a bit of pipe push it back into the wall a few inches it will probably stop the noise. Our new van did that and under the van I just pushed what I could further back into the wall which stopped it.

Need led lights on a sensor around caravan that turn on when movement outside. Also cctv cameras on outside of caravan.
@belindaturner99114 сағат бұрын
How about wire basket drawers in your clothes cupboard! At least you could fill them..maybe things would fall off the shelves. That's my idea anyway.😍
@aerialworxwithspikee8 сағат бұрын
Can you get a small exhaust fan above stove for caravans ? There is a rubber thingys you can get to seal to put around doors and windows. Similar to the seals you find on car doors.
@ronrogers96108 сағат бұрын
Hi jack and Megan while a off road van is they are not necessary the main thing is ground clearance which you have got when on bad roads you just have to be a bit careful and take your time and enjoy all the best Ron
@65cj55Сағат бұрын
Your suspension is fine, you just need to extend the draw bar back to meet it, not a big job.

Insulation won't fix water hammer. Just put an accumulator in.
@itsJackandMegan2 сағат бұрын
I have since insulated the pipes and it has fixed the noise 👍 wrapped some closed cell tape around the pipes. But yes if I want to run a lower pressure when using the water I’ll need an accumulator.

Let just say this,I would take the old caravans over the new ones they put out here in the United States. I've only had mine for four years. Got it in August of 2020 before the factories started having supply issues. Now my floor in one area is feeling soft,yet I have no leaks. Now we have to take the underbelly down and see what's going on under there. Od it a fram issue or is the kitchen gray tank leaking? Wish us luck!!!

There is always something to do on a caravan when travelling. we hope you have sorted out your limp mode situation. I sent you a pm on Messenger because we had the same problem now and again, but we fixed it all now. Great videos. we are in NSW maclan, leaving tomorrow safe travelling cheers 🍻.

Do you have enough room under your sink to put a trap. If so they are about $10 from Bunnings and that will stop the grey water smell coming through the sink

Yet another great video guys. East-West bed no thank you. Especially when you get older and need the toilet more often. Your build is great. Having owned a van I think I may have done the layout a little different but different strokes for different folks. Stay safe guys.
