Remember if you are in this situation, KEEP ON THE THROTTLE. The throttle will be your last chance before you loose it completely. This comes from my racer father who has been in this situation one too many times, including in his new C8 where he almost totaled it, but was able to save it after keeping on the throttle.

Dude seeing all the love in the moments after the crash hits me so hard. Having friends that are like family is one of the best things on the planet, seeing everyone hug and even Justin sprinting up to Dan and just grabbing him like that’s a true testament to the saying blood isn’t always thicker than water. So glad Dan and Laura were totally fine, cars can be replaced, could have been much worse. So much respect for all of you and the instant reactions and standing out in the pouring rain just to be there for them. I don’t have anyone in my life like that so it’s cool to see. The raw emotion and everyone looking like they were about to cry was too surreal.

I had somewhat similar experience driving a Focus ST170 back in 2007. Aquaplaning at the end of a bridge: there was a lot of water accumulated on expansion joint, lost the rear and car was going places all by itself, ended up at with car wrecked on a "knoll mud" that stopped me. I was going 120kph, a little faster or little slower could have been terrible... I had a minor back injury, car was not totalled but definitelly damaged; whenever there was water on the road driving it I felt true fear, felt much release when I swapped for new car. Police officer who supported me on the accident told me "maybe your car has too much tyre for little weight,specially at the back of the car, not good for so much water on the road", I think he was right (215/45/17 for 1248 kg [2751 lbs] was definitely good for dry roads, just not water. Glad to see they are both okay. Blessed we are :)

Does Dan’s ZL1 have the stock Goodyear Eagle tires? Those tires suck when in the cold or in the wet. One time I lost traction bad in my Camaro and started going side to side violently. I only accelerated a little when turning right and then it just loss traction, but I was able to fight it and get it straight again. Scary shit. Almost hit a car and a tree. Luckily, it was late at night. Wouldn’t recommend Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.
