The Active Time Lore system is one of those ideas that's so good you wonder why nobody thought of it before. If I was reviewing the game I'd add a whole point just for that feature.

I agree, at first it sounds like lazy story telling (traumatised by FFXIII's data log) but in practice I actually like the ATL a lot. I think one reason is because those info aren't required for me to understand the main plot, they are like little good-to-knows.

The game of Thrones blueray discs have this feature but in a game it works even better because we need to have the controller on our hands 100% of the time anyways so it's a much more integral part of the experience here in XVI

It would be challenging a much weaker and much more flawed game if Zelda wins Goty its because it's called Zelda rather than by merits of its own since other than the exploration that game has nothing to offer

Final Fantasy already has some of the best music in gaming but this demo is already top tier FF music. Literally every track fits the scene so perfectly. The grandiose music is unreal.

Jill is not adopted. She is from another kingdom placed there as a sort of ransom. But she grew up alongside Joshua and Clive so they have a ... sibling-like relationship. But heh not blood related.

Just subbed and love the channel! I hope I don’t get hate, but I actually see a couple of elements from FF Mystic Quest in this game. The way party members drop in and out throughout the story and are AI controlled, and the world map. Not a bad thing, it’s refreshing to encourage focus on our main character.

The return of the duke is the baratheons and lannisters visiting winterfell. Phoenix gate is the red wedding. Clive turning into ifrit is a similar to concept of warging the books

You could try Xenogears, that game was supposed to be the real FF7 but then Squerenix changed it to Xenogears and created the FF7 we know today. I think you will like it :) for me personally the order is FF9, Xenogears then FF7

I really want to get into the games but I just can’t? It’s something about the dialogue I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s like conversations don’t flow naturally or something. It seems to be all JRPG types or even anime tbh. Wish I could get over it but it’s all I seem to notice.

.... The primary script for XVI was English. It was retranslated back to Japanese after the English script was written and the Japanese script had to be edited to match up to the English recording and facial animations. To me it sounds like it's imagined because it's from a Japanese company and not what's really there.

I probably do have a biased view going into so probably something to the same effect as placebo is going on. Hopefully knowing what you’ve said I can give it a new perspective. So far my only nitpick is the slight pacing issue, I (sorta) get it they wanna make sure players follow their tutorial step by step but throughout the demo I find myself walking for like 30-45 seconds, then a cutscene, then another 1-2 minutes and a cutscene, then I fight a battle and another cutscene. Luckily the story introduction was very well written it kept me invested for the most part. I hope in the final game they'll incorporate some of those cutscene conversations in real-time, or they give players 1-2 hours of gameplay following up with a long ass cutscene, I'm fine with either one. But all in all I gotta say, as a classic turn based FF fan, while the battle system took some time to get used to, I'm surprised at just how much I care about the characters, it's definitely been quite some time since I last enjoyed a FF story this much. Nice job Square Enix, I'm excited to see how the series develop in the future.

@@InfamousTerry4 Yeah I'm all for the story too, it's not so much the cutscenes but more so I feel like the demo is a little bit too choppy for my liking. For example the part where you need to control Clive to go from the throne room to his bedroom, to me that's just a bit.. unnecessary..? (like I totally wouldn't mind if they combined those cutscenes into a longer one) This is especially apparent in the beginning of the demo where you'll randomly be in control of Clive after a cutscene, just to run straight for 5~10 seconds before another one plays. They kinda break the tempo of the game & storytelling in my opinion. Anyway I understand this is a Demo, I'm essentially nitpicking because otherwise, I have nothing bad to say about my experience. I am really excited to play the actually game ^_^

​@@justinsanegaming9724Don't see why a comparison needs to be done between films and shows - there's a ton of generic content in those mediums. The worldbuilding, characters, and storytelling seem to be very well detailed and written though in this game, and I can't wait to experience it.
