Hey, so first about cats, I have grown up with cats and they have all been rescues we got as kittens, if a cat isn’t a specific breed it’s called a moggie & in my opinion they are the best, they come in all colours, tend to have less health issues than special breeds & are just adorable. My heart belongs to my cat Sparky a long haired, black & white, small bundle of pure happiness. She’s 14 now & has helped me through my hardest times. I loved your video, I’m at the very beginning of thinking about a new career & UX is definitely an interest. Thanks for sharing your journal also I love it! 💜

So happy i found you again! I used to watch your videos back in 2021 when i was trying to break into UX, even though my goal was to pivot into UX Research, you really inspired me to keep going and sit down and redo my portfolio. Fast track to today, i have been working as a UX Researcher for a while now 🎉 and i am so happy here. So glad i found your channel again and I wish you all the best with the job interview as well as your job hunt. I love that, when you explained the part about making a website for your parents, you did not mention that it was a family favor, which i think is such a great move because in essence it really takes a lot of skill whether it is for a client or family, and that way the interviewer can also take it serious ✨

Hey Lily, lovely video, your cinematic videographer skills are really showing these days! You were one of the first UX designers I watched on KZbin and I've since began my journey on a UX course, I'd love if my workday could look like yours! On the note of getting a companion, I 100% recommend getting a cat but please try avoid purchasing one, as this drives the unnecessary market, when there are countless beautiful cats waiting to be rehomed. Maybe you could team up with a local charity by redesigning their website or something, which would be beneficial for you both as you could get publicity and also get unlimited play time with kittens, which would help you get to know them before taking one (or more) home :) Looking forward to seeing you and your new sidekick in more future videos! P.s your hair is stunning!!!

I’m the same way, work from home and my husband has to go into the office so I’m home alone a lot of the time. We have a cat but he doesn’t like to cuddle and mostly hangs around his cat tower, but recently we got a chihuahua puppy and she’s the biggest sweetheart. Loves to cuddle, is low maintenance, and just sleeps in my lap while I work.

Hi Lily, first I want to say that you are truly an inspiration for me. I started watching your videos a while back, when I was thinking about changing my field of work. I am still feeling super undecided but your "day in the life" videos REALLY help. In this video you asked for feedback about having a cat, and being a cat person has taught me a thing or two. Here are my two cents: Although people say that cats are independent, that might not be the case with yours - I don't know what it is to eat without her on my lap, don't know anymore what it is to close the bathroom door as she wants to be part of whatever it is that I'm doing, she follows me around the apartment all day and all night. You need to be prepared for some "cat tastes". My cat loves to bite cables and tore apart work headsets, internet cables (leaving me without internet for work), and others. Since I'm on rent, I am constantly worrying that she will bite something that doesn't belong to me (I really don't care about my stuff, but I know other people do). The same advice goes for scratching. Make sure you arrange scratching surfaces for the cat, so it won't scratch your bed, couch and other stuff. Plus, be careful with your plants. Not only will some of them be poisonous for pets, but if you really care about them, I suggest putting them in a place up high (or not to care about eventual bites). Living in a studio has also taught me that your cat might not care that you need to sleep and decide to play around at 6 am, waking you up (or burying something in their litter box FOREVER). These are some of the considerations I have to offer, I hope it helps. :) and please don't buy, adopt! There is an amazing cat out there waiting to be loved and to love you back! Cheers

A few years back a family friend asked us if we could adopt their cat (they were fostering him and could no longer take care of him) so we did, and it's been the best decision we've even made!! In general cats can be low maintenance depending on the breed since you dont HAVE to take them out on walks, but you could if u wanted. I'd say the only con if u could even call it that, is hair balls happen quite frequently and he does it in places that are hard to reach lol, especially if you have a long-haired cat like ours haha. Tip: For any kind of pet, I'd recommend opening a new bank account just for them, 3 years ago our cat had a UT infection and he's been kept on the recommended food since, vet bills are not cheap. It's really nice just to keep their expenses separate from your personal account for food, toys/enrichment, bedding, litter etc. ALSO BEWARE IF YOU GET A RAGDOLL, THEY WON'T LEAVE YOU ALONE THEY WILL DEMAND ALL THE CUDDLES AND ATTENTION, THEY ARE VERY FRIENDLY!!! 😂😂

Adopt would be great. My friend has a rag doll and they have a good balance of independent and cuddly. The shorthair might be a little more like having a tiny dog in terms of neediness. However just depends on the personality of the cat 😊

I just found you and I'm so intrigued. I'm also in UX/Communications so I really appreciate the career focus. I also work from home and I have two cats (plus I'm fostering one...whom I adore and want to keep). I LOVE having them around the house while I work. If I'm feeling stressed or on a 10 minute pomo break I know I have little furry friends who would like to play or snuggle. They're a lot more manageable than dogs, of course, but that being said, I still can't travel as freely as I want. I have an automatic feeder and an automatic litter box but that only lasts about a long weekend. Plus I'm always worried about them. So...depends on how much you plan on being at home. A weekend trip for me is possible but anything more and I have to ask friends to go out of their way, or pay for a sitter. Thanks for the peek into your world!

Have a look at the Siberian Breed. They don't shed as much as other breeds, they are super smart (I thought mine to high five, sit, laying down, etc). Also make sure you get the cat tested as soon as you get it for the most common stuff - unfortunately one of the cats i bough home has calicivirus and gave it to the other. spend about £800 between the two, in 2 weeks at the vet. Good insurance is key. :)

Before New Year's, we got a cat who was already an adult. Pros: - I had to stay alone for the whole of March, but thanks to the cat, I felt like I wasn't alone and could talk to him anytime. Usually, I often fantasize that there might be ghosts at home, but with the cat, it's somehow calmer because I attribute all the extra noises to him and trust his instincts because he notices ghosts better than I do. And that's the biggest plus for me because it seems to me that last summer I already encountered evil spirits. - I constantly marvel at how he sleeps. - My cat can sit on his butt. - We go for walks on the balcony with him. - My boyfriend is pleased that this scoundrel is waiting for him at home. Cons: - Yes, his fur is everywhere, he settles everywhere along with the dust. - He often goes to the toilet, can defecate 3-4 times a day, which makes the toilet smell remain no matter how much we clean. - The crumbs of the litter scatter throughout the house and places where the cat goes, for example, the bed, desk, chairs. We tried changing the type of litter, but nothing changed. - From time to time, he attacks us suddenly. - Often in the morning, he doesn't let us sleep, either asking for food or wanting to sit on the windowsill. - He ruined the curtains, tables, because we haven't trimmed his claws yet, as he is very lively and is just getting used to us. - Not as affectionate as we wanted, but it's more of a reflection of our expectations rather than a negative. - Sometimes we have to hurry home so as not to leave him alone for too long. I feel like I could live without a pet, especially during these student years. But it was important for my boyfriend's mental health. I don't see any significant changes, possibly because we have a strong-willed cat.

I love your voice and entire vibe Lily. 🔥🙌✨You are such a good storyteller. 📸 Love the realness of your video's My fiancé and I have three cats. We rescued two kittens from a township in Cape Town, South Africa. 🇿🇦 It was heartbreaking because the lady gave them away too early, and one of them passed away. The mommy cat could proved for her kittens. I wanted two cats so they wouldn't feel lonely, so we went back to rescue another one. While I was looking at the mama cat, my fiancé was holding two kittens in his hands. He couldn't bear to leave the last one behind, so we ended up with three beautiful, strong boys from the same litter. They are blood brothers: two gingers, Prince (named after Prince Harry) and Archie (from Riverdale), and Hunter, our black fluffy bundle of joy. 🐈🐈🐈⬛ They chose us and we feel lucky to have them. I am also a designer and they are the best co-workers 😻 Bottom line: rescuing is the best.

I feel like ragdolls have a huge PR campain for them going on for being super cudly and "floppy" etc...But they are first and foremost cats - you can encounter many characters of them. They may not be cuddly at all. Also this breed is generally quite needy and needs constant human companionship. I have one, and compared to regular cats I had or my family previously, my ragdoll is more like having a dog than cat (I even walk her 1hour every day on a leash outside like a dog lol).

As a cat owner, scooping poop and pee multiple times a day is the worst thing about taking care of a kitty. Highly recommend a Litter Robot 4 (not the 3). You still need to keep it clean but it's like a once a week thing vs a multiple scoop a day thing with the LR4. Also, long hair cats can get a poopy bum. I trim my cats fur around her bottom once every few months so she won't get dingleberries. Sorry for all the sh*t talk on your video. hahah!

As for the cats.. Please don't support the breeding of cats. There are so many babies in shelters that need a home that there's seriously no need to add to the existing population. I went to a shelter in 2021; a lady who had transformed her shed into a space for cats coming in from Romania. I went there and walked around for half an hour when she notified that I'd been chosen; the cat who didn't want to be pet at first was now stalking me around and walked right into the carrier; she wanted to come home with me. I've never had a connection that beautiful with a cat. Age wise; kittens are the cutest. However, it's harder to judge their personalities and what they're going to be like. For example, the kitten I adopted (different cat) was quite cuddlish at first but she's now a bit of a stand off ish cat doing her own thing. She also has a hard time being alone for a long time, which impacts my life. Shelters have information on what a cat is like, what issues they may have etc. Want a cuddly cat? They can introduce you to cuddly cats. Want a cat that just does their own thing and doesn't need as much attention? They'll have one for you. They generally also have information on whether the cat is capable of living with other animals, need to go outside, etc. It's a really great option to figure out what fits within your home and generally will cost you a lot less than a british shorthair fe. And you're helping a greater cause!
@itslilycameron8 ай бұрын
Thankyou for commenting this, definitely something to think about! I might make my way to the shelter soon to have a look 😊 I didn’t think about being able to judge the personality of a more grown cat, that’s so helpful!

@@itslilycameron Ofc! When you meet 'your' cat, you'll know. It's the most amazing feeling. And the fun part about it is that, based on pictures you've seen, you might have your eye on one and then you'll take one home that's completely different just because that sense of connection was there upon meeting. I hope your find yourself a furry best friend!
