@sodapopjones260 Жыл бұрын
@@telia4268 pretty much every problem you see here has to do with dogs and the way they behave. When Gloria steps in and trains these dogs, a large part of it involves using food to trick them into good behavior. I have friends who use the same approach with their dogs, they will get their dog to behave one moment, only for them to revert to their original behavior when they're not around or when someone new shows up, or any other reason. Either these dogs don't really understand us or what we want from them (disproving half the platitudes I hear about dogs), or they don't care what we want from them and will take the first opportunity to do what they want instead (disproving lots of the other platitudes out there).
@santiagoporret5247 Жыл бұрын
@@sodapopjones260I like a lot the way you explained it “tricking the dog into good behavior” that’s exactly the problem with modern dog training techniques. When rewards comes in to solve behavior issues, it stops being communication, it’s just tricking the dog through its instincts. That’s why most of them revert, it’s an unconscious process, plus it is unnatural and requires a human in it to be successful.
@santiagoporret5247 Жыл бұрын
Though Victoria chooses to address the dog actually. One example: there was no need of food, the dog smelled the leash and had no problem with it, the owner holding the leash was the actual scary thing😂 she made it seem like the leash was the problem, instead of actually teaching the owners not to chase after the dog if they want to catch it, basics of animal handling.

Yes! We can have a total of 5 animals. Any mix of dogs and cats is fine, as long as there are no more than 5 total. When you have too many, it's difficult for them all to get their emotional needs met. I am a pet sitter and dog walker. One of my clients has seriously evaded the rules and has 7 cats and 3 dogs, all indoors. I was quite concerned the first time I met them. I was told how many animals they have up front. They've been my clients for more than two years whenever they go out of town. Luckily, there are 4 children over the age of 10. The house never smells. The dogs are actually trained in the basic commands, and they seem emotionally secure. But if they didn't have the kids all tending the animals, along with the adults, I can't imagine the chaos there would be! Their level of good care of the animals is, actually, impressive! It's a relaxed, happy home. I'm happy with our two little dogs. That's enough for my husband and I.

I have a new pup now, we just took our first walk (he's a 2 year old chihuahua lol) and once he's confident with going out for walks, I'm sure I'll need to do that walk-turnaround-walk-repeat method with him too - he's got lots of energy. :D

Obviously, as we've seen. getting a puppy can also go wrong, but then it's *your* fault. I do know training though as I have an education in conditioning for horses (same principles for all mammals, just slightly different methodology), but dogs are a first. He didn't scare me but he didn't cut his vegetables like he was a trained chef at all. Also one thing they didn't check was germs in the kitchen.

I can't imagine this feeding time. I have multiple dogs, and they all know to be in their place/beds and wait while I prep their food. Then I call them and they sit and wait and each one by name is released to eat their food by name, based on who's bowl is farthest away first

im only like 4 minutes into this but I was thinking, if Syvester is a rescue... and he doesn't like the leash... it makes you wonder if its because his old owner got him on a leash and took him to a place and abandon him.
@meplife7313 Жыл бұрын
Wow, they can have 8 dogs in a residential home? Here you can only have 2 dogs, and if you want more you have to put an application in to your council for a permit which they then either approve or decline. You usually have to pay a fee with the application too. I'm surprised they're allowed so many dogs in a home., If it was a farm, then yeh that would be ok.

I agree with owners working together but i disagree that Jeff should be told off for not helping out with 8 (!) dogs when he didnt even want one.. She decided to go and get them, she is not listening to anything he has to say about him being uncomfortable and not feeling like its his house even so it's not fair to blame him. He was literally scared she would just keep bringing more.
@ashcococookies9699 Жыл бұрын
I partly Agree, yes she should listen to him and his opinion. But he should also understand that adopting dogs is her passion if he loves her he should support her.

@@ashcococookies9699 and he has shown his love, didn't he? He didn't leave, put up with basically all the madness (chewing, barking, kitchen mess) and things he really didn't like like dogs sleeping in bed. I'm just saying i dont think its fair to get him to do things like poop collecting as he wasn't the one desperately wanting 8 dogs? I mean, if cars were his passion would it be fair to ask his wife to wash them daily and change oil etc coz at the end of the day they belong to both? 😁 And the feeding time before looked so loony bin like i don't blame anyone for not wanting to do it 😁

@@ashcococookies9699 In that case the compromise would be only getting 1 or 2 dogs.

You are correct it’s not fair especially that many dogs they aren’t pets they are a lifestyle, a lifestyle he didn’t sign up for. They should have comprised and maybe stuck to one or two dogs.

@@beesknees9565 they clearly have issues with listening and considering each other's wants and needs, seems to me that's what Victoria is mostly addressing. It may not be fair for him to help, but it will make the relationship stronger and everyone happier.

Cevelster probably has been though a lot of trauma earlier in his life you can clearly see that when she explained that the dog was scared of EVERYTHING,and he’s a rescue dog so that is most likely the case/and also when Jeff explained he would yell at the dogs to get them to listen

the resent in that marriage is going to ruin it. She brought in all these dogs when her husband CLEARLY did not want them, and now she's annoyed he won't go through the trouble of feeding EIGHT ADULT DOGS that aren't his. Wife has prioritized the dogs in EVERY SPACE of that home and marriage. Not surprised the guy isn't happy. He doesn't have ownership of any part of that house - not even his own kitchen or his own bed. He's been backed into a corner and pressured to accept responsibility for these poor dogs. I wouldn't be surprised if he seperated from her.

I would have left after the 3rd one! I grew up w 1, when my dad passed, and my Mom remarried, of course they had one, and we had 2 then. My grandma passed and we acquired her dog after my stepbrothers dog had passed. So my parents adjusted to having 2, and always kept them in the backyard. They tried adopting another everytime one passed to keep the other one company.

Jeff shouldn't have to be equally responsible for all those dogs. Esp since he didn't agree to it from the beginning. That's like bringing home multiple cars without telling your spouse and expecting them help you do a car wash every weekend. You made the decision without me, then you can take full responsibility without me. JS 🤷🏾♀️
