@@jeffbaldelli1268 I'll slightly disagree; It's not ALWAYS the dog owners' fault, but it's VERY VERY VERY often the dog owners' fault. By this I mean that, sometimes, there's just a dangerous dog born and that's all there is to it. But how often is that versus how often is it the owners' fault... Yeah, it's nearly always owners' fault.

I swear Victoria is a saint, she's so patient with this man who clearly doesn't care about Dakota and who doesn't deserve her. And so many red flags: trying to get rid of her when his wife is at work?! Who does that?! Apparently the same kind of person who hits their dog... 🙄

That's very judgemental. The husband is probably the only one who's actually taking care of Dakota in the family. You can see from the way he handles her, it seems that he's always been the one with the leash etc. Also, Victoria hasn't addressed how the kids' and wife's high energy affects how Dakota behaves. This is usually what happens in a household. The husbands are usually calm but doing all the dog chores + making money. The wife and kids always have anxious and high energy. They need to do something about their energy and take out the dog for a walk more often to keep her satisfied

@@ember9361 @ember9361 That doesn't count as defending, I was stating the truth about the husband, the wife, the children and the trainer. Just because Victoria says he is a dog abuser, doesn't mean he is. Don't forget that Dakota bit his children. And don't forget that Victoria failed to address the real problem - the wife and the children, they've got high energy and too anxious causing the father having a hard time in handling Dakota, and, Dakota probably doesn't get as many walks as she needs. Victoria should be teaching the father on how to control space with Dakota in order to communicate with Dakota on not biting his children and, Victoria should be teaching the wife on leash handling so she can bring Dakota to walks more frequently. I'm sure they've got a problem with Dakota on leash. People don't get frustrated without reasons. If you ever handled a misbehaving dog that size, or bigger, you'll understand what it means when they misbehave.

Tail wagging isn't always a happy thing. Dogs wag their tail when excited; there's good excitement and bad excitement. She was definitely anxious when the kid was aggressive with her. Her tail wag was one of her behavior cues indicating that. However, she managed that anxiety very well and tried to avoid the situation rather than get aggressive. @rottweiler938
@rottweiler938 7 ай бұрын
Nah the man is not horrible. He wants the “classical” and “cinematic” relationship that society portrays that people will have with their dogs. However, he doesn’t understand that it takes training to get there and his understanding of training is clearly misguided and wrong. His temper was also short, but the long and frustrating situation likely played a major role in that. By the end of the episode he realized how to actually bond with his dog and seemed so much more happy- and even relieved- with the situation. As for the kids, that was a whole mess. They were following their parents example and their parents allowed them to do so. Furthermore, it endangered the kids’ safety. Victoria’s lesson on how to treat dogs was great for teaching them. Lastly, the wife was definetly the one who contacted Victoria or had the idea of it, but she still contributed to the situation. While she had good intentions, she was still causing the situation to become worse. She said that she couldn’t imagine her life without Dakota, which seems to suggest to me that she was more in love with the idea of Dakota being in her life than the actual reality of the situation. I think a key thing to note is how she allowed her son to wander over to the dog during the scrap through the fence. Yes, they’re focusing on the training aspect of it but your family still matters as well. It was also good that Victoria corrected her on this, though it was a little harsh but it was out of concern rather than hostility. From what I could tell, however, the wife wanted a dog but didn’t really seem to be near as involved as she should have been, considering her position on the issue. Overall, it was amazing to see both the dog and the owners react so positively to the training methods Victoria gave them. I think it’s important that if owners call a dog trainer that they are willing to put in the work themselves and be taught. If they expect the trainers to do it all, then they themselves will not form a bond with their dogs that are important for obedience and understanding.

I don't think it's a problem for a high energy family to have a high energy dog, if the family constructively channels the energy. One high energy family will just be chaotic and drive the dog nuts, while another will use the energy to do things together and with the dog that will be great fun and enrichment/adventure/experience for the dog, and allow the dog to constructively use its energy-- e.g., hiking, going to the beach and doing zoomies up and down the shoreline, digging in the sand, etc, going to the dog park or the people park and playing frisbee or fetch, etc.

@@MammaM1217 Yes, definitely troubling. He acted like being kind to your dog was a sign of weakness & was too focused on his own aggression towards the dog, as if that ever worked . It looked like he was learning, though, and nice to see him be affectionate towards the dog after a good training. I hope that continues for everyone’s sake.

I love how Victoria is direct with the husband, and make sure that he understands that his dog bad behaviour is because he didn’t take the time to educate her and be with her, it’s same with the wife but because she is softer and love her dog she is less physical but she is also responsible. She also should take the time to educate her dog and her kids; yes it could be hard, yes it’s exhausting but the reward at the end is so beautiful. I’m really thankful that my parents did that when I was a kid because I juste had a so amazing relationship with my dogs when I grew with them around me ❤

It was so sad and frustrating to watch the early part of this episode. Terriers are wonderful dogs, but they are a lot of effort! They need a lot of exercise, training and socialisation. I loved the last scene of Joe taking her out cycling, that's just what she needs. I hope they keep (kept?) up with the training and set Dakota up for success!

If he was “aggressive all round” he wouldn’t be open to training, seek help, praise the dog, smile, work with the dog, be affectionate, take it riding, as the episode showed. A lot of people in the comment project super-negative narratives on to the people that don’t match up.

no he is not 💀 if you take like 5 minutes to watch the other parts of the videos, that’s literally just how he talks and acts. when Victoria asks him to be more excitable and animated around the dog, his tone is still pretty flat. it’s just his personality. if he is truly aggressive, i don’t think that he would’ve called the trainer to help him solve the issues with his dog. what’s aggressive is you trying to come at him with your own tone. 🤷🏽‍♂️

My advice to anybody is don't own dogs unless you are both in agreement with it; Myself and my husband decided not to have dogs until our children were much older, otherwise it causes friction, or worse in relationships. It's so obvious that the husband doesn't want the dog, and that's his right.
@loc1976
@loc1976 7 ай бұрын
You're very right about that. I just think in this case they both wanted the dog, but he didn't get the well behaved dog he wanted, and then he wanted to give her up. My advice to anyone deciding to get a dog is to know it will take work to teach and nurture and socialise, and a new owner has as much to learn as the dog.

Amazing to see what bringing awareness does to a frustrated person. it's an unhelpful thing to say: he is an abuser, he's bad and shouldn't have dogs. The difficult option is: communicate and show what is happening. Slowly bring awareness to reading the dogs behavior and his own actions. Then the frustration can slowly dissipate because now he learns what to do that actually makes the dog happy and therefor also him. In the end its a slow road but one that is better for everyone. Well done! And to him too, for being ok with showing this process for a wide audience!
