Actually, this family is just plain cruel, period!... Their dog is in distress and they are worried about material stuff?!… Even at the end, the dog was getting better and he was still separated from the family!... I just don't get why people get pets if it's to isolate them, specially dogs who are so social!... I am more of a cat person… I have rescued cats with all sorts of problems (fearful, hissing, growling, hiding, ignoring treats and play invitations, etc.)… One major problem with unsocialized, abused, mistreated cats is piing and pooping outside the litter box as a stress relief, and I have never isolated them more than a few days to get them acclimated to their new environment… They have total free range of my house… I simply strategically put more litter boxes of all shapes or even pee pads for the declawed ones that suffer...

@@egagnon9994 I don't believe this family was cruel, they just didn't realize the dog was under so much stress. People who don't do research or don't have experience with dogs don't know the signs, and then the dog suffers. Besides, they have every right to worry about the walls and stuff. Repairing damage like that is expensive as hell.

Of coarse we haven't seen the full episode but other then the stress Rocky is actually pretty well adjusted. No reactivity, or fear or aggression. I think his genetics have a good chunk to play in his stress, and of coarse not getting an energy release compounded it, which then made walks extremely difficult so she didn't take him out. So it became a cycle. I don't think at least with the spinning they were just expecting him to behave with out training. Spinning like that is not the average/stereotypical dog problem. And especially if you aren't super familiar with dog training you may not really now how to fix it. And they did give Rocky training, its just that it was with Victoria.

Gets high energy intelligent working breed dog. An animal that needs exercise & tasks or jobs to do. Owners completely fail to meet dog's needs except food & water. Don't walk or engage the dog. Dog is bored out of his mind. Owners are surprised he's acting as if caged for 20 hrs a day... Sometimes you have to wonder at the IQ level of some of these people.

This dog is desperate for direction and structure. I hated seeing him shut down under a chair. I love how Victoria cares so much about his confidence, because without it (from both owner and dog) there's no training that can be done. My dog Athena used to be similar with cars when she was young, it's because we took her everywhere in the car instead of walking her normally! She still loves cars, but she doesn't look for them now for the safety of familiarity. Also, the mom Stepped up. Love it.

I have a rescue who was abused. He's a German shepherd/pit mix and while he's possibly the smartest dog I have ever owned he does the circle thing whenever I come home. Reason is that he's so excited that I'm home and he wants to jump on me but he knows he's not supposed to. I've been trying to get him to sit calmly before I give him any attention but it is definitely a process!!

@@jenniecartier3917 I'm just thankful to have him! I truly believe he was destined for dog fights- as they are an issue in my local area. If not that he was at least beaten- I have to mute the sound of my belt or he hides and he hates shouting and gunfire. But aside for jumping excitedly on adults, he's a gem with a heart of gold. I don't even have to instruct him to behave around children- he just does. I just gotta get him to chill out with adults because people think he's scary when they first see him. He favors the shepherd side but you can see the pit in his face.

It's clearly a high energy, busy household and interesting to see each time he went to grandma, the calmest family member. There were certainly a lot of factors involved here but that Insane spinning was Horrendous, that poor dog! What I did notice was just how phenomenally relaxed, calmer and relieved the mother was as things were getting better. Everyone was stressing each other out and the dog was both reacting to it plus contributing and the vicious circle continued. What an amazing difference ❤️

I wonder if they actually addressed the spinning directly or just worked on his anxiety and nervous energy and confidence. It's amazing what stuff that looks peripheral, like agility or nosework for confidence, can do for these problem behaviors. While he was indeed seriously anxious, I would not have put him on the extreme end of how anxious a dog can be like V said ("One of the most anxious dogs I have ever..."). The most anxious dogs require medication to make any progress. Rocky may have benefited from anxiety meds while he was doing the training, but he could learn without them. A more anxious dog would not have ever come out from under the chairs. Lots of those out there.

It's not enough to walk the dog, you need to know HOW to walk the dog. A lot of people don't know and give up because they see the dog being aggressive or nervous and they honestly believe that it's better for the dog not to put them through that.

She would just spin, and spin, and spin. She ruined the front room having anxiety poops. It was really sad to watch. I began training her. She still spins a little when she is excited or when the cat spooks her but that is it. You just have to get a doggy like that exercise and gentle love. She was never a mean dog. Just a ball of anxiety. Her and my son get along great because he has ADHD. They are kindred spirits :) Rocky reminded me A LOT of our dog. I bet Rocky is one of the sweetest dogs.

The pizza in the back of your freezer she is a fabulous trainer, no doubt, but people specialize in that type of training. I fully believe Victoria is capable, but in order for a dog to be certified the trained must be done by someone with a degree!

Remember its always easy to judge a dog owner for not doing something or doing something. Even though it seems obvious to you it may not to the dog owners. I'm assuming a large chunk of people who watch these videos are moderately familiar with various training solutions and basic training, as we watch these because that's what were interested in and what we learn from these videos. They owners probably do not. Besides at the end of the day judging doesn't help the dog, their getting help from Victoria and helping teach the dog in what ever needs be is the most important. That way both owner and dog(s) can be happier together and create a stronger bond.

It’s a household responsibility to care for an animal because it is a family member. Your sister was in the wrong for not consulting with the family, but it isn’t the dogs fault that she did that. You know? That dog needs care and love from all members. There is a similar episode about a guy who refused to feed and care for an adopted dog because (in his mind) it was his girlfriend who got the dog without his permission so it wasn’t his responsibility. This guy “calculated” his responsibility and actually said he does his percentage of the work. You should check out the video! He does come around and it ends quite nicely :)

I actually have birds and I'm always the only (mom will sometimes help when I'm sick) one who take care of them, my cousins or dad won't ever help so I don't think I have to walk their dog either because I only have enough time and effort to take care of a dog ( that I wasn't ready for )
@edagrlr

It's supposed to be everyone's responsibility but it definitely is not the case in many households. I live with my parents and they love my puppy but If I'm not the one walking him, he won't get walked. If I absolutely can't do it for some reason, I'll ask a friend for their help. My parents will feed my puppy if I'm busy (or even when I'm not busy), they will play with him, pet him and all that fun stuff but they won't join our training classes or take Teddy to his vet checks. That's just the division of labor in our house.

The changing direction for pulling did not work with my golden retriever. She’s very smart, but also very willful. We ended up going back and forth 3 steps each direction for like... an hour a day for a week, still didn’t work. Lol! After failing at techniques from shows like this, I got her into obedience training so a trainer could help me in person. That did the trick. That was when she was 4 months old. She’ll be 4 years old in a few days and we haven’t had any problems walking on a leash since our first 6 weeks of puppy obedience school.
