This is by far the BEST video to prepare for the written portion of the certified paralegal exam! I watched this video multiple times and passed the CP exam on my first attempt this past fall. Thank you so much for recording and sharing this video with others!

Leanne, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I finally passed this subject in the January 2017 NALA examination window. I started my journey of taking the NALA exam in 2014. I have only two subjects left to pass. I stumbled across your youtube video a month before taking the January 2017 testing window. My results arrived on March 6th. I passed the Judgment portion. Yahoo! I am so excited. This subject was difficult. One of the main reasons I passed was due to your telling us NOT to read the story, but to read the law first. Made total sense! Thank you again and again. I have Communications and Substantive Law to pass on my next testing window in May 2017. You are an awesome teacher!

How can I access your PowerPoint slides for the remainder subjects I need to pass?
@ItsOnlyaPlanet7 жыл бұрын
Pamela Smith Unfortunately , I cannot provide my PowerPoint slides to the general public as they were made for courses I was teaching at a college and were meant for students who were enrolled in those courses. I do not have permission to distribute them.

Virginia Koerselman is the author of the Certified Paralegal Review Manual, not just some random long name...
@ItsOnlyaPlanet8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I know. Thanks for citing the author. But, you have to admit that they often choose unnecessarily difficult names in test questions - that was my point there.

I am curious about the statement at 21:23 that Leanne proposed concerning the authority issue of the U.U.S. Although the statutes 15-245 & 67-4224 may coincide with one another, I would think that there was no issue as to whether or not the U.U.S. had authority to create or write statutes. Statute 15-245 expressly states that the U.U.S does, in fact, have the authority to create them, so the authority, in this case, would seem to be a moot point. Just my observation...if I am missing something please explain.
@miggy2913 жыл бұрын
Late answer but as stated in 67-4224 if a statute infringes upon personal liberties the state must show a compelling interest for enacting said law.

Which is correct in 2019? Using FIDC or FIRAC? Or does it even matter?
@ItsOnlyaPlanet5 жыл бұрын
Hi! If you are tasked with writing a memorandum, then you must pay close attention to what the testmaker's ask for in the instructions. If they ask you for Facts, Issues, Discussion, and Conclusion (FIDC), then that is the format you will use. If they ask for Facts, Issues, Rules, Analysis, and Conclusion (FIRAC), then that is how you should structure your answer. The important thing here is to answer your question in compliance with the instructions set forth by the testmaker's on your particular exam. I have not seen 2019's specific questions, so this is the best answer that I can give you at this time. Good luck on your exam!

Do you explain the issues 1st in the Discussions, then you discuss the rest of the statutes in the discussion. So 1st discuss the issues, then discuss the rest of the statutes?

Will a person pass the test if their conclusions are wrong but the argument is well written?
@keepsake3275 жыл бұрын
I don't know about how the test is graded, but what matters most is the argument in the memo. Your thoughts on how the law is applied might not be the same as the judge or your supervising attorney's.

Hi.I don't know if you can help me or not, nobody else can,and my whole future is literally riding on this. I am completely lost,I don't even know where to start. I filled for disability in 2014 after I fell 12 feet to the concert and ruined my back. But I got an attorney in 2015 and they dragged their feet for 4 years,so by then I was SOL pretty much. Now I'm on my own. The judge asked for a show cause order,I just wrote a letter explaining I don't understand and can't get anybody to help me,if they can be more clear on what I am sapose to do,so they sent me a web address,it was useless,so I asked for an extension Wich they granted. But I had to go to court after that to explain why I missed the deadline. He gave me 14 days to file a memorandum of law,I have searched online,I have talked to 20 lawyers Wich won't tell me anything,I'm lost,my whole future is riding on a memorandum of law to send the Court. In the real world not my world,I should have sent a memorandum of law the day after I got the letter in the mail 2 days ago,now once again I am in panic mode and I really need help bad. Anything would be helpful if you can help me I would be forever in your debt, literally you would save my life,because if I miss this I might as well not be here anymore to be blunt. Thank you so very much!

Friend, I am so sorry for your difficult time. Try contacting the courthouse, through any main number you find online, and ask for assistance locating free or low-cost legal assistance in your county. Also, you can dial 211 from any phone and you’ll be able to make selections to find legal resources in your area if any are offered.
