Yep, every parent needs this for a child that gets out of their carseat or seatbelt. Best thing you will ever buy. It will also protect you child.

Unfortunately these are illegal in some countries. I work with young people with disabilities and these seat belt covers are now illegal in the UK and we cannot use them anymore, even with parental permission

You should probably use all 4 D rings. In a car with it on they are needed if you use the top 2. In the event of an accident the seat belt and D rings work differently. Also always keep a seat belt cutter close by just in case you need a fast escape! Just a heads up from someone who has done special needs transportation for the past 16 years hooking up about 15 kids a day every day.

I work on school buses, and I've worked with kids that have to wear these. Luckily I haven't had an accident with a student who needs one of those, but both me and the driver know where the seatbelt cutters (usually there's two) are.

53 years ago, just as carseats were b undergoing changes, sears sold a harness very like that. It hooked to a seat best thing. We removed the back seat and bolted the strap to the seat belt bolt. It actually was great. He could lay down, sit, and stand up. About 12 years ago, i had a similar harness for my very large dog. Good concept.

This is an awesome solution! My cousin R has A.S. And is going to be 47 in July, he is one of my most favorite people, his mom and dad were told that he wouldn’t make it to adulthood, but that was not what they wanted to hear, so they did everything that a parent with a child diagnosed with Downs Syndrome would do, back when R was diagnosed A.S. Was called a puppets syndrome. He’s absolutely not puppet like and I’m glad they changed the name of this genetic difference because these people God created so perfectly are literally amazing, and far superior to your generic, run of the mill plain ol’ vanilla variety human! You don’t need me to tell you this though, I am blessed to have R in my life, and he’s the light of our entire large extended family!

I might have to look into this. My son is severely autistic and has quite possibly the worst ADHD I've ever seen. Unbuckling is one of our biggest safety concerns. He loves to have his window down, but I've had to pull off the highway because he's unbuckled and tried to crawl out the window. It happens in about 2 seconds. Keeping him safe is a full time job and it makes any trip longer than 20 minutes extremely difficult.

That just scares the hell out of me. What if for some reason he needs to get out of that car whether you’re drove into a lake or you’re flipped upside down and the people on the front or unconscious and he is awake I mean that’s just got to be crazy but I guess that protects you for the most part but that’s just scary to think of.
@dancerdog5086 ай бұрын
Just use a seatbelt cutter, he wouldn't be able to get himself to safely either way and him being in this means he wouldn't go flying if they ever got in an accident or anything

Those are very scary thoughts. However even in most accident scenarios that's not as likely. In my child's case it's much more dangerous for him to be able to get out of his seat while I'm driving. I do carry a seat belt cutter on my key ring and I think everyone really should because in those scenarios it could be difficult for anyone to get out.

I have a sad story about an old friend of mine in elementary. Forgive me for the language but its the easiest. She rode the "special bus" and had some sort of a disability, my guess is autism because of how she behaved, but it could have been something different. On the bus, they wore those harnesses. She would come off the bus with that harness on and then wear it until a teacher or parent took it off because she didnt know how and the bus driver didnt take it off. I think thats terrible, it broke my moms heart whenever she saw her. It was just such an identifier that she was "different". I didnt notice it as a kid, and i dont think anyone really teased her about it, but it was loud and clinky and bothered her. The bus driver should take them off.
@Joker.7727 ай бұрын
Yes the bus driver or some other adult should have definitely been there to remove the harnesses but that doesn't mean their any less important for safety.
