I struggle with male Sims so much. Which is funny because I mainly only make male Sims, but most of my cc, specifically skin details, are for feminine Sims, which isn't bad, but sometimes I wanna make more masculine ones lmao

@@Medusa_The-Bard tbh I think having a pinterest inspiration board really helps! i'm comfortable making sims of any gender but where I struggle is going outside of my aesthetic comfort zone (which is like, alt, anything emo/punk/goth, etc.? so easy for me. anything else? AAA) and looking at influencers and models of different aesthetics has helped me so much, I think maybe that could work for gender too! Like, look for photos of people with features you really like and try to emulate it. also I think not being afraid to go outside of traditional gender norms is fun and helps a lot!

What if Angel had a little sibling who was suffering from a chronic illness (the locket he wears was his siblings). His little sibling loved to be read stories, so Angel ended up making his own just for them (thus the bookworm trait), but soon after his sibling pasted on, Angel spiraled into depression and started to work out to distract him from his pain but it didn't work... He tried everything, romance, parties, you name it, but still nothing. He felt empty. He then decided that if he can't be happy, no one should (thus the public enemy aspiration). Cringe, I know, but it's still pretty fitting.

Something you can do to avoid all the males looking the same is avoiding the same eye shape CC (I notice they're usually only the predatory eyes whatever they're called, lol), and experimenting with different features, like going for things you wouldn't normally go for. I think it's objectively harder to make males look good though. I don't know what it is but they almost never look unique, so it's hard to REALLY get a technique for them.

Good tip for that: look at more men. Also dress them according to their personality, instead of just making them how a 'guy would dress'

@@sxmxndthxas a masculine presenting person. The reason it's harder to make male sims stand out is because we have much less clothing variety and much less hair styles. Men often get ridiculed for wearing fun stuff or trying new things with our hair. We don't get fun styles like braids, ponytails, updoes, etc and skirts and dresses aren't part of our wardrobe and I find that they really add a lot to a lot of outfits when I see people make feminine sims. It is objectively harder to make unique masculine sims, and the reason is unfortunately that fashion standards for men are restricting.

I feel like if you maybe tried a challenge where you make/take an existing female sim and then gender swap them you might have an easier time translating things like their personalities and style into a masculine style.

the hardest part of making a male sim for me is dressing them. like i can only make a businessman, alt young adult, or frat/ golden boy (ik those aren’t the same but they both wear polos so…)
