Everyone in the family should pick a destination idea throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico that fit various categories based on time of year, when you can make it work go for it. No repeat destinations spin a wheel for a destination, there's many free apps and some websites if you don't have a wheel. Skiing/Snowboard/Tubing, beach trip, pro sports trip, amusement park trip. If the five of you can have a break from work and school go for it plan one event and wing the rest.

Fun fact, the original KOA campground is in Billings Montana, which is where I’m from, and is still home to the KOA headquarters. I worked there for a bit in the customer service and mailroom department. Thought I’d mention it since Mike brought it up. 😂

So you made reservations for another cruise for New Year 2026. Isn’t this Brennan’s last year of college? If so he will be trying to gain employment and he can’t say to prospective employers that hmm I traditionally go on a NY cruise with my family and will need 1 week off that involves a few days before and after NY 2026. He will be low man on Totum pole as far as seniority and may not even be eligible for time off at that time depending on what company hires him. So maybe the reservation should have waited because not all of the five of you can go. And Jill aren’t you suppose to work certain holidays if you had NY off this year you need to work it next year. You might want to check because you have done this cruise at least twice since becoming a flight attendant and it’s not fair that you always get Thanksgiving Christmas and New Year’s off when other flight attendants may want to spend the holidays with their families too. Just saying your fellow employees may give you some backlash for taking those three holidays all the time.

@ it’s not hate it’s called thinking ahead. Number 1 cruises can be non refundable so booking a cruise when you are not sure all of the passengers in a said party can go a year in advance means you may not be able to get a refund on a cancellation. Also Jill has to work certain holidays it’s a given that she share the holidays with her fellow staff. If she doesn’t and continues to get the same holidays off it will cause problems with her at work with other employees. Her employer SW Airlines may observe this and possibly suspend her for that kind of thing. As it makes for friction in the workplace. It’s called being realistic and being fair to fellow employees. Instead of being self centered and thinking only of her family. Sarah, put yourself in the position of being a fellow flight attendant shoes. If a co worker like Jill, took every Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s off to be with her family and you had to cover those shifts for her every year being away from your family on those holidays wouldn’t you get tired of doing that every year. Everyone should be entitled to have at least one of those holidays to spend with their family it’s not fair to other employees for one employee to take all three holidays every year. It would potentially cause disgruntled employees in the workplace and that doesn’t make for a good work environment. So it’s being realistic and fair. Also not everyone can afford to lose money on a non refundable cruise. So in these times when money can be tight it’s best to wait and see how many of the family members can actually go on a cruise next New Year.
