Fun wee candle trick: If you want to remove the wax from the glass, pour boiling water into the glass to the brim, and leave it until all the wax rises to the top. It will solidify into a single puck, and you can just take it out! You can keep leftover wax as wax melts xx

Came here to say the same thing! It work so much better than putting the candle into a pot on the stove! And no,the is glass is designed to withstand a burning flame, so boiling water wont hurt it. 😁👍🏻

@@Rithene use it in a wax melted instead. Still has its scent t. Just means you can use every last bit of wax from a candle. I use empty jars as pen pots and stuff as well.

You can break it up and use it for your wax melter. It also makes it easier to dispose of if you just want to throw it away, and then put the glass out for recycling!

Carrie - re: the candle - if you pour boiling water into the candle jar, the wax will melt and float to the top. Then, when the water cools the wax will solidify into a block which you can use as a wax melt in an oil burner and you can just tip out the water and give the jar a quick wipe to re-use. :)

YES!! Proper pants!! My friends when I was a teen always thought I was so boring that I had practical pants but HELLO! So comfy! Even when I got married, my wedding pants were practical ones. They were on theme but they were practical!! 😂😂 (and now I’m a mum twice over and need all the practical in my life lol)

For getting the wax out of candles, I just pour boiling water straight from the kettle and leave it for a while, the wax floats to the top and that's it. Saves the hassle of doing it in the pan xxx

I’ve had a week in which I’ve cried about not being able to see my boyfriend after Christmas after 5 months + apart, gotten sad about not getting to see my sister and her fiancé for Christmas and then done 3 happy zooms with my friends and boyfriend over 2 days. The black pants make me smile because one of the things I do when I go to the UK every Christmas is... nope, not souvenirs, not tourist attractions, not visit family but...Marks and Sparks ladies cotton briefs. The problem with thongs is...I'd always be looking for a corner to back into so I could pick them out! I don't know what tier we're in but our rules for single people are...we can have two cohorts but they have to come to MY house separately. Well...first off, I'm not allowed anyone else in my building but also, my cohorts would be single people who can only have friends over, not go out.

For the candle thing you can also pour boiling water from a kettle and leave it for a bit, the wax melts and cools at the top and your left with a chunk of wax that you could take easily out or even re-use as wax melts

Carrie - for getting the wax out of jars of candles, you should freeze them. The wax shrinks and then you can just pop it out by running a knife around the edge. Then just wash up in normal washing up to get rid of the residue!

As someone that is now about to launch a candle business I do the same trick! Then use the wax to make a 'franken-candle' or you can use the leftover wax for melts. On another note yep welcome to the late twenties granny knickers and comfort loving life. I do still love getting glam but honestly these days nowt is sexier than being comfy. It was at the point when I was 27 after a gig all I wanted was a cup of tea that I knew something had changed.

Candle trick I learnt recently is kind of the same, but you just run hot water over the outside of the container until you can pop out the wax in a big piece/big pieces rather than letting it become liquid, which is then easier/cleaner to either bin, or to put in a wax burner if you have one!

In my state in Australia, we went into a hard lockdown similar to your tier 4, so I really feel for you in this situation. Make sure you keep connected with people you love online, especially over Christmas. I was alone for most of lockdown since I live by myself, but at least I had my cats.

Not paid attention to Wales and Scotland tiers, as they do their own and had no reason to go to either nation. But in England, Tier 4 (Stay at Home) was created especially for London and the South East. And certain eastern provinces such as Peterborough. I was going to put my theories as to why Tier 4 has been necessary and the timing of it. But I don't want to be overly political here. Just to say the government has handled this badly.

You can also put the candleholder (I don't know if it will work with glass but it works with ceramic holders) into the freezer and the wax will just pop out.

With your candles. Put them in the freezer and then then just kind of bang them out. Sounds weird but it woks and it comes out so clean

A method of getting the last bits of candle wax out that I prefer is to pour boiling water from the kettle into the candle jar/container. The water will slowly melt the wax which will then float to the top. Let it cool, and then you have a nice round disc of wax completely free of the jar.

In regards to the candle, you can do it the way you do, or go in the complete opposite direction and stick it in your freezer for an hour or longer and the wax will just slide out! :) x

I stick my candles in the freezer at that point(for a few hours) then take a butter knife and pop it right out, then use the wax as wax melts!

I put the burned down candles in the freezer. The wax pops out. I buy new wicks from craft store, and then melt in microwave and pour a new candle. I also might top off with the melt and pour soy candle wax bits I mix in.

The housewife in me just wants to suggest storing clothes in vacuum pack bags. You can fit loads of clothes in them, they end up really flat so you can stack them on top of each other and to avoid the musty smell you can insert a tumble dryer sheet. (This is such an old lady comment 🙈) Oh and if you take photos of the clothes you are packing you can check back if you’re ever looking for a certain item!
