FUN FACT: Jekyll & Hyde was originally supposed to be pronounced Jeek-yl (like Seek) & Hyde as it was intended to be a play on Hide & Seek. I learnt this at Uni and found it fascinating, and now can't hear someone say 'Jekyll & Hyde' without sharing this!

thats so interesting! at uni i was taught that jekyll was supposed to be a play on the french, like 'je kill' and then obvs hyde is hide. isnt it so cool how there are so many different interpretations of it. i think yours is cooler lol

I heard the jeek-yl fact last year at uni, its because its supposed to be a sort of Scottish sounding pronounciation apparently... I would also really love if Carrie did more vids talking about classics

This whole topic makes me think of these quotes from Doctor Who: "We all change, when you think about it. We're all different people all through our lives. And that's okay, that's good, you gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people you used to be." "We're all capable of the most incredible change. We can evolve while still staying true to who we are. We can honour who we've been and choose who we want to be next." and an Alice in Wonderland one: "I knew who I was this morning, but I've changed a few times since then."

It's really comforting to hear that it's so human to find and lose a balance a lot. Trying to find a balance between my work life and home life and friend life is hard a lot and I'm relieved it's not just me. Much love ❤❤❤

I honestly give props to everyone who pursue their dreams without the intention to be famous, but they still manage to go with the flow when it happens. There is a balance to be found, but it's a live and learn process. Lots of famous actors manage to keep their personal business to themselves and still thrive in their public personas. I think you're doing a great job under the circumstances and changing environments. Luckily your loyal fan base has kinda stayed the same throughout. It's been a pretty chill environment here lol

It's crazy how so many of your videos this month had hit home with me. Hard! And without oversharing myself, it's very comforting hearing you talk so eloquently about what I have been feeling and things I've been going through. Sometimes I don't know how to get across all of the things going on in my head and hearing you talk about them makes it easier for me to find the words that I need myself! So Thank you Carrie!! It really does mean one hell of a lot! (also i love your jumper!)

Hey Carrie, not sure if you read comments tbh but I've been watching for years and years and years. This video reminded me of a time you mentioned in a video that you had a hard time bringing issues up with people (specifically your partner at the time, I think) and that you'd do it in bed in the dark, or over text because it was less scary. It doesn't seem to me like you're scared anymore, and I feel like I've been seeing so many people who were used to the girl who kept things back, and were getting increasingly pissy when they couldn't walk all over you anymore. I've been seeing it for awhile and I couldn't for the life of me understand what had changed and why people were being so gross about it, and this video made me realize that you've really blossomed into someone assertive with set boundaries and opinions, and we should all be celebrating it. It's hard as someone who, in some way, thinks of you as a friend to know that there are things my "friend" isn't telling me, but I also have to respect my "friend's" boundaries! Do you, sis. So happy to see you living your life.

Yasss about social media, the last few years I have been trying to work out how much I want social media in my life. I've been starting to keep stuff back but feel like there is a pressure to share everything or to feel like your life is not enough when you can view the ins and out of everyone else's. I'm slowly learning what's right for me , but social media is such a funny one because it's trying to work out how to use it positively in your life

So much so that I feel like I really need to work to get back to a place where I feel confident and comfortable with who I am. Something I saw recently said that there's a difference between secrecy and privacy and that really struck me as something I'd never considered before, and I feel it's relevant to you even more so. With relationships, your partner can not be a secret, but it doesn't mean people are owed anything else, you can still be private about everything else. And I think it's important to know the difference!

A) I remember that video and it was life-changing because it was so damn relatable; there was a clear point before and after what happened to me, and to look back and be like “damn- the optimism and youth I had” (even in photos, not only memories) to then looking so exhausted and seeing my body, style, mindset change was nuts. But like you, I’ve found a middle ground where I feel comfortable now. Whew! B) YESSSSSS about the Trump thing- I’m from the States and voted and I think that’s the perfect way to put it.... we’re all consuming the same facts so how are they interpreted so differently!? (I mean we could write a joint dissertation on why hahah but it is still mind boggling). I just love how you phrased it. C) That bit about stage door just shattered me 😭😭 Saw Heathers at the Other Palace and you didn’t have a stage door that night, and my wife and I were like “good for them/her on setting boundaries”- plus that show requires all the energy ever (and the Other Palace doesn’t have the same structure as other stage doors so good on ya- although it was sad to see that there was a human body shield surrounding you haha 😔) D) I have loved every video in May, Myself, and I, and I also have watched your videos foreverrrrr and it’s such a delight to see my growth and progression alongside yours. We’re the same age, so it’s been quite neat for me. You haven’t let your shine be dulled, and neither have I, and we should be proud of that 😊✨ All the love!!!

I remember when I first read Jekyll and Hyde and being so surprised that originally it was a twist ending that they're the same person! Real talk: I met you around the time you're talking about in this vid and said something daft like that as someone older than you I knew you'd be OK - which tbh would have been unhelpful even if I really did know you - and even at the time I thought oh god that was just not appropriate to mention! We're not friends or even acquaintances, it's none of my business to reference your off stage life! But I think my brain was just confused by seeing someone I saw online whose happiness I cared about. (Obviously it's much worse for you to deal with that awkwardness repeatedly.) So yeah it's all super super weird and human brains and society are not evolved to deal with it all yet! I'm glad you feel happier with where the balance is now. 💙

I've often thought that life is a pendulum. We tend to start too far on one side then in an attempt to find balance, swing too far to the other side. Gradually the pendulums succumbs to gravity and finds a balance in the middle, but it takes a few swings to either side first. I've definitely felt that in my own life.

I feel like I have two different personalities, because I'm an extremely shy person, at work I am very quiet and completely not myself, I'm a very different person at home. I really struggle trying to show my true personality to people. I feel like my true self is locked in a chest in the middle of my brain and I can't find the key to unlock it. It's extremely frustrating for me, there's nothing I'd love more than to just show people who I really am as a person, I just don't know how to. So yeah, that's my life.
