Maruti cars undoubtedly indias largest selling cars and best in terms of service maintenance and resale value.
But one area where everyone blames against maruti is safety rating where popular and highest maruti cars got 0 to 1 star
That does not mean maruti is only producing less safety cars.
Their discontinued scross scored full five star and maruti least selling suv eventuall discontinued.
Even kizashi sedan which was launched had 5 star safety rating.
Now the indian market is pretty much asking for safety rating.Blame tata motors their entry level tata punch to high end safari all the cars got full five star.
Even maruti was forced to talk about their safety in their product launches eg during launch of fronx they said the chassis is improved with safety.
Now we have a swift launch coming soon
We have been following the news of the new Swift for a few months now after it was launched in Japan. Thereafter, it came to the UK and Ireland. Finally, India is set to get the new generation model of one of the highest-selling cars in our market ever.
Swift scores four stars
he visuals capture the crash tests of the hatchback. They start with a frontal collision at 55 km/h. The damage to the body and dummies is recorded and analyzed. Note that the Japanese version of the Swift also gets active safety features. Hence, in the subsequent procedure, they are put to the test. The vehicle is slowly driven up to the backside of the car. The autonomous braking system takes charge once the vehicle is too close and brings it to a standstill. This is done even in reverse movement. Thereafter, the vehicle is driven at 50 km/h and a bicyclist suddenly appears on the road.
Again, the car senses this via the sensors and the system applies hard braking to prevent the collision. Subsequently, the Swift is being driven at 60 km/h behind a bicyclist and the system brakes the car once it gets too close. There are also cases of pedestrians appearing on the road from behind parked cars randomly. Each time, the electronics of the car were able to apply brakes timely. This also includes driving during the nighttime. The vehicle is also testing for lane-keeping assist and frontal side collision at 64 km/h. This JNCAP test concludes with the side collision test at 55 km/h. After that, the pedestrian safety tests were conducted. The overall result was a decent 4 stars.
The Japan-spec Suzuki Swift has recently scored a 5-star rating in the Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) crash test. This is the highest safety rating received by the Swift and the car has a collective score of 178.3 points, based on four tests - full-wrap frontal collision test, offset frontal collision test, side collision test, and rear-end collision performance test. For this crash test, the JNCAP used the Hybrid RS variant of the third-generation Swift. The car scored 87.8 points for occupant safety, 78.87 points for pedestrian safety and 4 points for passenger seatbelt reminder (PSBR).
Despite being built on the same Heartect platform, the Japan-spec Suzuki Swift clearly offers a lot more safety features compared to the Maruti Suzuki Swift manufactured and sold in India. In addition to ABS with EBD and brake assist, the Japan-spec Swift Hybrid RS comes with six airbags (2 front, 2 side and 2 curtain) as standard. Furthermore, the car also features some smart safety tech like electric stability programme (EPS) along with Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) collision-mitigation system.
