I got a pair of these in 2019, from a UK retailer called "GoArmy" After over two years of use they are still watertight, soles show little sign of wear and no cracks in leather. Straight gotta the box I waxed them and have done so a few times since. The only problem I have had is that my own pair will squeak with each step, drives me crazy, my sons, don't have that problem. I expect these boots to last a few years more and in the future I would buy them again.

Thanks for your input yes great boots, just using them in the mud at present ! also mine also squeak ! a little bit like the old crepe sole shoe that teddy boys wore in the 1950"s they had a nickname " Brothel Creepers " ! I will post an update when I pass 500km in them should be later this month Take care out there and Happy New Year

true, I use Lanolin (pure woolwax) to stop the squeak. I rub it betwwn the tongue and the inner side of the lacing. I gently apply it, rub and knead it and let it soak at body temperatue (by just wearing them). That stops the squeak for some time.

Hello my friend good to see another boot review after your Australia trip.... I just sold a pair of those boots .. Looked absolutely fantastic... But were just surplus to my requirements.... Love the full rand around the boot... Look forward to seeing your updates on the boots.... Remind me a little of the meindl dovre boots..... Watching your reviews sent me on a military boot splurge... Nurse for back from a nice hike.. Very muddy and wet... Wore the altberg bergen boots . They performed absolutely fantastically.... And for the first time had gaiters on.. Can't believe I didn't buy gaiters years ago....

They're highly rated so hope they'll last me forever lol. I hiked around howarth today.. Timed it wrong the last hour was precarious hiking in the dark no torch on rocky muddy trails... I think I would prefer using my Alt-Berg Defender over these! Just the fact I find them quite heavy and warm during the British winter. Also to note, when I attempted for the army reserves last month, I had a look round to see what boots everyone was wearing. There was a mix of soldiers using Alt Berg Defender and AKU Pilgrim. There was also a few people using YDS. The army base I went to is used for phase 1 basic training for non infantry recruits.

I Have three pairs of Alt-berg Mk2 Defender (duty, best and a spare). Also have Alt-Berg Field and Fell (black) for when black footwear is called for. I know a girl who has Defender, Field and Fell, the iTurri both the tabbing and cold weather boot and Haix HL desert - she's loves of them for different reasons.

Mine arrived,new without box, perfect condition,they were manufactured in October 2020,the only difference I have noticed is even though the sole Is identical to your ones,there is no branding on them, another great thing is that leder gris can be used on these,the Haix had a recommendation not to use it,so I have always used Nik wax.I look forward to using them in anger.
@ontherunplmr1218

Yes sometimes Governments prefer not to have any branding on their contract products. They are identical from the various manufacturers just without their brand name. As you say Leder Gris is the recommended product by Iturri. Re Haix they seem to recommend a quality Silicon based polish ( they sell a product under their brand ) A low cost ex Germany Army quality polish is available from the below link, although they now just have Black in stock. I have previously purchased Brown which works well Take care out there www.surplusandoutdoors.com/shop/outdoor-footwear/footwear-accessories/shoe-polish-in-a-tube-125-ml-435047.html

I’m so happy with these boots I have to say, my firm all time favourite boot that has outlasted the rest is a textile Salomon 4D Gore-tex boot, the quality is on par or above with these boots and hoping they last a long. I thought I would be a large, could only get medium in my size and it’s not a problem, enough room still. (Edit - THEY ARE LARGE, I need large). So glad the MOD get to wear these, I will be checking out the other boots shortly! Thanks for your review 👍

I bought the boots after I watched the video as I'm looking to collect some more similar boots on the MoD category since I first got the Haix boots as my 1st pair to start with the collection, with thick wool socks on they were a snug fit on me as I wear em on 10M and you were right about them being on the heavy side. I waxed the Iturri boots twice to test their waterproofness and how steep they can repel out water, their overall ankle length is around 8 inches tall in standard so I want to see if they're good on their own. After placing them on a tub of water at around the maximum length I believe they can only handle around 5 inches at best because I noticed the gussets between on the end of the tongue isn't tucked in properly no matter how I make sure to lace them stiffly in place. I may be wrong here so please enlighten me maybe I wasn't following the proper lacing system that was actually intended for. I'm not here to prove anything but to do it only for curiosity since there's barely enough info about these particular kind of boots around the web currently. I own a pair of Lowa Z8N boots and water didn't come through on the same test I did in the past, as for the Haix High Liability boots they did a good job too and the gussets on the tongue look much reinforced along with the sturdy leather on the collar for excellent insulation altogether. Again, please let me know if I missed something out or I might have did something wrong with my Iturri boots which led it to soak in water around the tongue area or they weren't meant to be used that way? Thank you!
@ontherunplmr1218
@ontherunplmr1218 4 жыл бұрын
Hello I am just posting a link below to an excellent article about these boots , In the article they mention 7.5 inch from the ground to where the gusset is stitched . I measured my boots and I make it 7inch from the bottom of the outsole in the instep to where the gusset is stitched . So seems to be a difference to your measurements ? As a comparison the German Army Model 2007 ( Para Boots ) are around 8inch to the same level So the Iturri boots should be waterproof to around 7inch ?? If you are in the UK then you will know had bad the weather has been ( well still is !! ) I have had these boots out in the mud and rain without any leaks going in deep puddles. I am not sure that different lacing systems will make any difference to the waterproof of the boots www.joint-forces.com/products-and-reviews/footwear/19485-update-iturri-uk-mod-cold-wet-weather-boots I hope this is of some help Take care out there

Haven't really tested them yet but love the lacing system more than Altberg Quick question as I am still using my Altberg defenders for now, what's the soles like in wet surfaces? Well done that is a very good price, Iturri seem to be using the same pattern outsole on all their British Army boots, the Cold Weather, the Patrol and the new Desert Boot. I have perhaps used the Patrol the most out of the Three of them, most of my walking is on low level paths, roads etc and grip seems ok in the Wet, I was planning to be more challenging walks in 2020 but Covid put a stop to that for now ! The size label is a bit confusing. A mondo point length of 285mm (interior last length) is a UK 10.5 / EU45, not a size 9. I detect stupidity at the MOD!

Thanks for your input, I think you are correct, perhaps it gets a bit confusing when mixing the different size systems Perhaps actually easier if they just kept with One system be that UK, European or Mondopoint Also makes the point that where ever possible always worth actually be in able to try a pair on before buying Take care out there

What's the stiffness on these? Thanks.
@ontherunplmr1218
@ontherunplmr1218 3 жыл бұрын
They do take a bot of breaking in but the top of the boot and tongue area etc is not that still, the lower part of the boot has a thick rand around the complete boot, that is a stiff area but overall they are a comfortable boot with lots of cushion/padding Take care out there

@@ontherunplmr1218 Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the sole stiffness. The look like my old Lowas but I'm not sure they will be as stiff and I do multiday trips with nearly 20 kilos in the Cairngorms and need a pretty stiff sole.

Sorry yes my fault, I should have realised that is what you are asking, yes they are pretty stiff twist wise which I guess is what you need, they do not seem to flex a lot take care out there have some great trips

Hi, do you think these will soften up a bit width wise ? I got a pair of 10m, and they are a very little bit narrow. I'd get the 10L, but they seem to be rare as rocking horse leavings ! I don't know weather to sell them on, or cut the tags off and wear them in. Any help is appropriated. Thank you, Rob.

How many miles/Kms would you say you have walked in them ? I will take a look at mine , I am just in the middle of a big home job topping off some conifers ! will try to give mine a walk in a few days and see how stiff they still feel , at present I only have about 270 kms on mine but they have been comfortable from the start . Take care out there

Thank you for your reply. They are new, no miles yet. My work boots were like this when new, tree climbing boots by the way ! They are comfortable, they just feel slightly narrow. Maybe they just need the miles on them. Take care with those trees !

Yes see how they are after a few miles on them, or you could try the method some people use, when they fill the boots up with warm water and let them soak, never tried that my self still prefer to break them in when required by adding some mileage. Thanks re the trees yes a big job, my son is coming over to help I have hired a cherry picker to make life easier and safer when we bought the house they were 1 metre high now some are 12 -15 m high !! so a new experience topping trees hopefully no dramas like dropping them on the house This time I need to take care out there !

 @Rob Thompson what did you do, Rob? I bought these in a 10M too. Now, usually, a size 10 is plenty for me. Often, size 9 boots fit me. However, in these 10M boots, I felt my right toe at the end of the boot when standing still. I decided to sell them on and looked elsewhere. However, I'm wondering if the 10L boot might work for me, but I don't want to make the same mistake twice. Is the 10L slightly longer (as well as wider) than the 10M? Just another few millimetres longer (i.e so the end of the boot is just out of reach of big toe ) and they would have been perfect. I'm sure a size 11 would be just too big... I have to wonder if a size 10 in such a heavily padded and insulated boot is really a size 10, or does all the padding make it feel like a smaller boot?

@@benjohnmiller , I couldn't get a pair of 10L for love nor money. So I got a pair of 'used' 11's cheap, with the idea that if they were a good fit, I'd get some new ones. They were a perfect, comfortable fit. And, they didn't look used at all (bar a tiny graze on the top of the tongue area, which I polished out). So I've stuck with them, and I'm very happy. I'm normally a 10, sometimes a 10.5. With these I'm in an 11. If you can feel a toe at all, go up a size.
