ITV Athletics theme 1990

The tune was called "Hot Foot". It was first released as the B-side to the 1990 ITV world cup theme called "Tutti Al Mondo", hilariously overshadowed by the beeb's inspired choice to use "Nessun Dorma". It's made its way onto a couple of very out-of-print CDs since then, however.

This is awesome! I have a few ITV athletics meetings from the early 90s on video and have been wanting to hear this theme in full for ages, not sure it lasted until 1996 but still a great tune. Thanks for uploading.

1990 would be the last time the European Championships would be covered by ITV from 1991 all major World and European meetings would be left to the BBC though ITV continued to cover the Golden League in Oslo, Zurich, Berlin and Brussels and continued to cover UK international and domestic meetings until 1996 when the contract finished when ITV dropped athletics after 11 years but the Golden League was mostly in late night slots as highlights with the odd event live and live Friday night coverage was cut back but what caused athletics to go to Channel 4 and later return to the BBC was the events at ITV leading up to Christmas 1995 when F1 went to ITV and was followed by the FA Cup though the Golden League went to Sky and later Setanta with highlights on the BBC going to the BBC when Setanta went into administration
