Some of the comments about this are just sickening. She's a very lovely little girl, she is just exploring. It's a new environment for her. I'd understand if she were kicking/screaming/interrupting and breaking things but she did nothing like that. The interview/show got completed and Alistair and the mother were very professional.
@halloweenville17 жыл бұрын
Harriet Opie, What's more sickening is people like you can't see past the end of their nose, the bigger picture is is a society of bad parenting, would you put up with this if you were giving a personal speech, or sitting in a restaurant trying to eat, so why should an important news program be any different, you need to get past the whole stop attacking the child thing, it's not the issue.
@curlwhurl80547 жыл бұрын
Halloweenville Oh my goodness, people like you are so presumptious. Trust me, in the job I do I see bad parenting ALL the time. I see children spitting, swearing at others AND their parents, running around screaming, throwing and breaking things. THAT is bad behaviour and when the parents choose to not discipline their children (when in that situation it is needed) THAT is bad parenting. All I see here is a little girl of toddler age exploring, and moving around silently, its a new environment for her most probably. None of the noises she's making are loud enough to pipe out the sound, you can hear the interview perfectly. And how can you compare this environment to a restuarant? There is plenty of space for her to move without disturbing others or for others to bump into her. And again she isn't screaming or causing distress, if she was doing that it would be a different story. Honestly bad behaviour in environments like restuarants annoy me when the parents do nothing and need to. But this is a little girl harmlessly exploring quietly in a spacious environment.
@halloweenville17 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying she's screaming or causing distress , i'm saying the parent is doing nothing about her child climbing over a news desk on live TV while people are trying to listen to the news, again this is not about the child's behavior, it is about the parents behavior, it's exactly this reason that we live in a world where calling out bad parenting is met with disdain and disgust form obnoxious mothers who take it as a personal attack if you ask them to control their disruptive children in public . , i don't care about how cute your family is, i don't know you, i am trying to watch a serious news program. you say she is harmlessly exploring, funny, so do you think people were enthralled in the news at what the mother was talking about, or laughing at the kid using the news desk as a climbing frame, while funny, it's still not appropriate behavior in this scenario, I'm sorry you can't see past the cuteness and adorability , not everyone is the same, doesn't mean we hate kids, it means we just don't care about wanting to be liked by everybody.
@curlwhurl80547 жыл бұрын
Halloweenville Again with the presumptions. I can see past adorability and cuteness. And I do agree that parents should be called out about children behaving badly, but after seeing REAL bad behaviour I just don't see this girl as an example of that.
@halloweenville17 жыл бұрын
Again you are focusing on the child's behaviour as the issue, and not seeing the whole situation at all. So your saying that a mother allowing her child to run amok and climb all over a news desk while people are watching the news is fine, it might be funny and cute for a second, but basically it's not at the end of the day. Why would you think this behaviour is ok on a TV news show, but not ok in a cinema or restaurant, do you think people shouldn't be bothered just because hey are watching Tv and are not there.

I got $5 on the table, placing my bets: child climbs the desk by the end of the video! A bit later... She climbed atop the desk! Well played, kid!

It's hard to control a toddler and she would probably do what she wants anyway but the issue I have is that the mum doesn't even try to tell her to sit still. They also only put one chair out when there's two children, so what were they expecting...
@ayanabenjamin3765 жыл бұрын
I think mum had to focus on answering the questions. There was only very limited time.
@julierobinson36336 ай бұрын
I think she was probably sat on her Mum's lap but slid down even before they were introduced. The Mum had probably been told to just let her do whatever, it would have been far MORE stressful and intrusive to the interview if the Mum had kept calling her or trying to grab her and she'd then -inevitably- started screaming. She's a toddler, toddlers toddle.

We live in a shitty world, where the weak are pounced upon and publicly victimised (Jeremy Kyle!), as they are berated for their role as victims of austerity. An austerity created by the greed of our so-called government, which has never for one moment held our best interests at heart. Hard to believe this is the same channel, and when I saw this live, it absolutely made my day. I'd give anything to see just one single fraction of a moment, where everyone in the world becomes as innocent, bright, happy, adventurous and carefree as that little girl. I for one believe we could all learn a lot from her.

Little secret about television news, Desks like the one in this video have inbuilt computer systems tucked away so the viewer can't see. This gives the newsreader access into the running order of the programme (ie whether a report has to be thrown out for breaking news) The keyboard and mouse i presume is connected to the computer hidden inside the desk
@scythal4 жыл бұрын
@@jcampton1 I once saw a behind the scenes look into ITV News involving Mary Nightingale and indeed there is a computer underneath the top of the desk which is why when there is a break they usually look at the screen below the desk. I also saw covered wires leading away from the desk, which I believe are connected to the computer system

I don't understand why the mom doesn't discipline the child....she cannot even order the little girl kindly, like she doesn't dare to do it. So sad that the child controls the situation and not the parent. :( how can this girl accept any kind of order/system later? :(
@geoh77777 жыл бұрын
I think there is a concern among parents and caretakers today that one cannot discipline one's child in public today for fear of risking CPS investigating for child abuse or even taking the child away. Also, a mere taking the hand of a toddler can result in a very loud protest that can seem like the child is in great pain (for those of you who have little experience with children.) The better approach is to have children in front of the camera once they are a little older. .
@Pickyosocksup7 жыл бұрын
The kids having fun enjoying herself doing what a kid does not being naughty to hurt anyone or doing anything dangerous so why does it need to be disciplined if it was running around with a knife shitting on the desk then well you have a valid argument

You obviously don't have kids also forget that we have moved on from Victorian days, what harm was the child doing? In fact this clip would never had made youtube with millions of viewing and great publicity for ITV/ITN without the child...Alister Stewart is a dad and one of the most prominent supporter of children's charities....

Bettina, it is important to let children be children. She was not doing anything bad.. she was just being a child with all the innocence that comes with it. I hope you will not be unfair on your children...
