What you need to acknowledge is you can't really catch a burglar unless you catch them in the act which, given current staffing levels and the realities of modern policing, makes that nearly impossible. What evidence would a burglar leave behind? They'd be wearing gloves and a mask, so that leaves out any realistic prospect of any DNA Evidence. Most homes don't have CCTV and of those that do, they'd likely be of poor quality. Especially if the home burglary happens at night. Due to the mask a witness making a positive ID would be impossible. However, 'crimes against the banks' will be significantly easier to investigate and charge for. Police aren't prioritising banks over people. Police don't pick and choose what calls they respond to and investigate. Police investigate any and all crimes using all reasonable lines of enquiry. If there are no reasonable lines of enquiry, they use proactive policing methods (such as increasing visible police patrols) and would be adding it to Intelligence so other officers are aware this incident occured. Simple fact is burglaries leave next to no reasonable lines of enquiry.
