The UK seems like an awesome place to live. I can’t even begin to imagine a society that the police aren’t armed to the teeth. I know crime exists everywhere, still it’s nuts that every officer isn’t shooting first...
@tanyard4 жыл бұрын
UK cops are generally some of the best trained and regarded internationally though at the same time I think it's stupid they don't carry a simple handgun today like 99% of the worlds cops do. Being unarmed with a relaxed attitude doesn't stop armed robbers and armed terrorists when it all goes down. Typically on average a UK cop is shot or stabbed to death every 2-3 years so it's not as if there isn't dangerous criminals and weapons. Too many people in the UK have a narrow minded view on police carrying guns just because it's an island with a civilised society they think it doesn't happen here. I live in a small semi rural UK town and if we ever needed armed cops they would be at least 30 minutes away which is rediculous going by how populated and urban half of this island is.
@FAli19004 жыл бұрын

The fact that they are unarmed means nothing, guns aren't the difference. Personally, I'm glad UK police are willing to invest time and resources into chasing down "minor" offenders. What's the alternative - allow them to carry on unchallenged? And for those complaining about sentences that don't include imprisonment, the evidence is that jail time makes career criminals and family deserters who can't function in society. eg the US incarceration system is a disaster, and has just created a permanent criminal underclass. What we need is serious restorative justice. Instead of 2 years at crime school, or 2 years rocking up to the occasional meeting with a probation officer, have 2 years working full time under supervision to repair the damage done to victims - fixing houses, doing housework and cleaning, dogshit clearing etc.

"...carrying a gun on a bus in London!" Oh my, how terrible! This is funny. I'm in Alaska. If you were to fill a double decker bus with Alaskans just going about their daily lives, and then see how many guns were on that bus, yeah, you'd fill a normal size cardboard box and maybe have to get another box. Thing is, you could be in the middle of all of us for years and maybe decades and not have the slightest clue any of us were ever carrying. What wine is to the French, guns are to Americans.

I think someone got their figures wrong. 3:43 "These helicopters cost a million pounds each." Either they're used or they got them off the "Clearance" rack. 4:55 The police car entering the scene could have taken that punk out right there. Should never have given him an opportunity to escape.

They were new to the Met so yes probably a mistake or their current value. Unfortunately this was way back before tactical contact was permitted on motorbikes, even now there are very few units that can.

If this were in the U.S., people would be saying that the police were racist for going after the black man, even though he was committing a crime.

Pls shut up. In the USA they attack native Americans that protest to protect their land with rubber bullets, pepper spray and dogs. The native Americans are unarmed. Meanwhile armed white conservative protesters going against the lockdown aren't met with any resistance.

@@rn-zu5ld Again, this proves my point. Who's side are you on?

@@rn-zu5ld You should also know that the Native Americans are generally hostile to average citizens, and to the police. The reason the police bring out force is because of the violence the Natives provoke.
