I am a huge Jay Park fan (we call ourselves JWalkerz) and I can tell you a lot about him. Jay is known to be very outspoken and has somewhat of a bad boy/fuck boy image, so many people misunderstand him a lot and he became a controversial figure with newer K-pop fans but he is a household name and has opened a lot of doors and broken many boundaries. His career path has been super unique for a Korean ex-idol, there is really no one like him in this industry. He is a korean-american hip hop /RnB and pop artist, born in Seattle to Korean immigrants in 87. He has been in love with hip hop since he was like 5 and started off impersonating MJ and Usher, later on joined a B-Boy crew called AOM (Art of Movement) in high school, he still considers them his closest friends to this day. Jay got casted by JYP Entertainment and moved to Seoul when he was 17 in order to support his family financially. He didn't really speak any Korean when he went and barely knew anything about the Korean culture and social norms etc (thats why the song GANADARA makes so much sense). He was a super rebellious, loud and ignorant kid trying to adapt to a foreign place with ppl poking fun at the way he spoke etc all by himself. His family stayed in the states. He debuts in a boyband called 2PM in 2008. He became one of the most popular members and the group was an instant success domestically. One year in, someone hacked into Jays old mySpace account and revealed some messages he sent a friend back in 2005 complaining about Koreas strict standards. he literally wrote "Korea is gay" (again, ignorant lil kid at the time) and those messages spread like wildfire being severely mistranslated and taken out of context. The media painted him as the bad guy. Jay fell from grace as there was no room for explanations. Koreans felt hurt by his words and JYP (the CEO) decided to send him back to the states until the initial hate-wave dies down. He was meant to return to the group but while he was in the states Jay had a heart to heart with JYP and confessed "another issue" that was so severe, he felt it would be the best for everyone involved if he left the group. So he did and 2PM went on to become one of the biggest K-Pop groups ever and Jay worked at a used tire shop in Seattle for 6 months (that was in 2010). There were still many fans left that supported him so he decided to start making his own music uploading a cover of BoBs Nothing on You. Gaining 2mil views in 24 hours, many talent agencies from South Korea and the states contacted him. He also discovered that Cha Cha Malone (a friend from his boy crew AOM) was producing music and they started to work together. Jay signed with a Korean agency and returned to Korea to kick off his solo career. One thing u need to keep in mind for the early to mid 2010s when it comes to Jay is that his name was bigger than his actual music, so when he started to focus on RnB and dancing, that industry in Korea was very very small, specially in comparison to K-Pop. Barely anyone cared much about black music in Korea. So Jay, as a former Idol, venturing into this space instead of trying to stick to the K-Pop industry, was the biggest name by a long shot. His musical abilities didn't match his fame and many underground artists didn't like him for that reason. He kept working on himself and kept working with the people closest to him like Cha Cha or Dok2 and The Quiett from the (at that time I believe the biggest label) 1llionare Records. Those two slowly introduced him more and more to other players in the game and his Korean improved as well. At first many ppl were confused as to why he didn't start working with bigger and more established producers, artists, A&Rs etc since he easily could've but he wanted to work with his friends as long as they were as serious about music as he was. As time went on he ventured more and more into rap as well and with the launch of a Korean competition show called Show Me The Money (kinda like the X-Factor but for Korean rap) and Jays album WORLDWIDE, Korean rap and RnB became more and more mainstream. Jay continued to connect with the who is who in the underground rap scene and eventually founded AOMG (in 2013), the biggest asian urban music label to this day, helping countless of people making a living off of music, establishing huge artists and expanding his influence in the industry. His vision was to build a hub for people to connect, create and exchange knowledge. The fact that he came from the states, the land of hip hop helped tremendously. Acts like GRAY (Singer/Rapper but mainly a producer), Loco (winner of the 1st season of Show Me The Money), Simon Dominic (Rapper, known underground before joining AOMG) and Woogie all became household names. Jay himself was at the forefront of Koreas growing urban music scene and since his name was known to the public anyway he constantly walked a line in between underground and mainstream using his name to push the underground to the mainstream step by step. In 2017 he founded a second music label called H1GHR MUSIC, supporting more hip hop and rnb artists the biggest names would be pH-1, Sik-K, HAON, Big Naughty and the producer duo GroovyRoom. They released two albums as a label collaborative project called the H1GHR Compilation consisting of the Blue Tape (RnB,Pop) and the Red Tape (Hip-Hop/Rap). Sik-K and GroovyRoom have since then left earlier this year to create their own agencies respectfully with the support and know how of Jay. Jay has MANY accolades to his name, he won the artist of the year, album of the year, label of the year award at the Korean hip hop awards multiple times, managed to establish himself as a household name and a living legend in Korean music (in general, next to k-pop idols, which is a feat deemed impossible for Koreas urban music scene until he did it). His mere existence as a business figure and an artist in the Korean entertainment industry is a miracle to be very honest....he managed to uplift an entire sector of the entertainment industry through his hard work and connections alone. His Korean hip hop album WORLDWIDE established him as a legitimate rap artist both underground and mainstream, put KHH on the map internationally for a lot of K-Pop fans, his Korean/English RNB Album EVERYTHING YOU WANTED solidified his name in the industry for good, his English rap album THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED was a passion project supporting the Seattle based music scene, featuring many American artists with some asian artists connecting internationally. In 2018 he was announced as the first asian artist to be signed to Jay-Z's label ROC NATION, promoting his lead single called Soju ft. 2Chainz. He went on a promotional tour in the states, scoring interviews on SWAY IN THE MORNING (check it out, specially his freestyle) and NO JUMPER amongst others. He brought Soju with him to promote it (an alcoholic beverage, kinda like how the Russians have Vodka, Japanese have Sake, Koreans have Soju). People thought that Soju was his own, until he denied but that got him thinking. On Dec 31st 2021 he announced he would step down as CEO of AOMG and H1GHR which made headlines all over, Jay Park and AOMG/H1GHR were inseparable. In 2022 he announced a new label called MORE VISION, focusing on the k-pop industry with the way he manages the label. His current goal is to combine his knowledge as a business owner with his knowledge as an artist and public figure and a former Idol to create his own K-Pop groups. He is currently training a boy and a girl group to introduce to the k-pop industry in like 2026-ish. The K-Pop industry is very toxic, inhumane and problematic for the individual people. Jay knows about it from his own experiences and the close ties he has to Korean Idols and industry people. He attempts to change that. Remember the Soju? He also launched a spirit company called WON SPIRITS, making him the first Korean celebrity across all industries to launch his very own brand/company of alcoholic beverages. He created WON SOJU, a premium high class variant of the popular Korean drink. It's usually sold in green bottles but Jay's variant has a unique bottle design ans is made of a special rice produced in a region called Wonju. His Soju became an instant success and was sold out for weeks /months in the entire country in 2022. People were going crazy for this, the supermarket chain GS25 sold it exclusively but each store only received two bottles as the demand was too high so ppl went nuts to get some. It is now sold in the US as well and you can order it at some restaurants. in October 2024, Jay released his first rnb album in 8 years since 2017s EVERYTHING YOU WANTED. Reminiscent of that album it is called THE ONE YOU WANTED. He has been working on it on and off and kept postponing it a lot. He plans to go on a world tour this year. Jay releases music ALL THE TIME, but a full length album and an rnb album at that has been long awaited. Jay is known to do a ton of features and participate as a judge on Korean music shows regularly (he was a judge for ASIAS GOT TALENT for 2 seasons as well). Jay deeply cares about the culture and therefore supports upcoming underground artists but doesn't shy away from working with household names known worldwide. When it comes to smaller artists he does features for free, appears in their MVs for free and even pays for mixing and production himself to push them. He also features a ton of people on his own music or drops seemingly random EPs every once in a while. There is a compilation type of show called Killing Verse OR Killing Voice (for singers) where they perform a medley of their most famous songs back to back. Jay has done both a killing verse and a killing voice, check those out for a quick overview on his music.

Hi! Have you reacted to IU's palette episode with SUGA? I'd really like to see the reaction because SUGA is my bias in BTS and I love the collaborations he's had with IU. She was also a guest on Yoongi's show suchwita.
