This is the most useful video ever!! I’m working in an office in the US, and I realized how small talks are important. But I didn’t know how to start or continue conversations. Thank you so much for this information. I’m sure this would be helpful for a lot of Japanese people.
Actually, I don't realize what they talk about in small talks when they haven't met for a little while cuz can't hear their pronouncing correctly. This seminar can explain what they actually say in detail

雑談の仕方は国民性で変わってくるみたいですよ。ドイツ人女性がドイツ人は友達にならないとHow are you?の会話がなくて、あったとしたら長話になるそうです。アメリカ人だと誰とでもでいつもgoodで終わりですよね。どっちがいいのか知りませんが、関係の深さの違いでしょう。日本人にもちょっとした雑談ってアメリカ人のようにいかないかも?そう言えばESLの日本人の学生がHow are you?と言われてああだこうだ言っている人が多くて、先生たちが日本人たちにgoodで終わらせていいんですよって注意していたのを思い出しました。まあ、how are you?とかは挨拶の部類に入るのかもしれないけれど。

I feel small talk is kind of brain streaming, so there are not special difference between Japanese anx English.
