OLED makes a huge difference between the Pro and standard model. Unlike Samsung, Apple won’t bring OLED to all models. Edit: SE doesn’t have OLED. 120 Hz has been the main reason why people would choose the pro max over the max.

@ I remember the days of the iPhone 4 and back then you didn’t really watch content on your phone. It was more so just for calling, texting. Once streaming and platforms like KZbin really took off. That’s when phone manufacturers saw the benefits of bigger screens and small phones began to get phased out. I remember the days before smartphones too.. there was definitely more competition back then. Not just Apple vs Samsung which I’d say is about 80% of the market now. I preferred LG and it’s to bad they had to leave the space.

I would be highly surprised if there's not a horizontal camera bar. Frankly I think it's a much bigger improvement in terms of utility. And I think it looks better. But it is an open question as to what it means for the future of spatial video. But maybe they found a solution

They could just put a square sensor in there, letting you take landscape video while you hold your phone in portrait. Square video („open gate“) is something the video industry uses when producing for mobile and home viewing at the same time.

Great video, Apple actually took over Intel departments that were responsible for their mobile phone chip many years ago but their mistake was, among other things, to reduce the main development taking place in Germany from two locations to one but they probably didn't do their research because it was very unattractive for most of the employees to move to the deleted location or to commute and so they had to keep buying for years until they finally got it together

I have a base 15, upgraded from an 8 Plus and even without changing refresh rate I’ve seen things being faster and smoother. I do agree with you on the refresh rate ordeal, it’s so exaggerated. If anything needs more importance for higher refresh rates it would be TVs especially since smart TVs are the standards and for the gamers a 120 Hz rate actually would have more impact on something bigger like a TV (assuming you have a PS5/Xbox Series to go with said TV) than it would on a phone.

No way the camera lenses go horizontal. Spacial Video/Photo requires them be vertical so when you turn the phone they're horizontal. I'd believe it if they put them in a line vertically because that would give more distance between the main and wide lens which would give better depth.

Apple's biggest mistake was marketing "pro motion" as "pro" when you had budget $200 Android's with 120hz displays. Imo the iPhone 13 line up should've had "pro motion" on the regular and mini models and Apple would've had increased sales for a future models.

If there's a variable aperture, I suspect it would go the other direction (a smaller aperture). The benefit would be maintaining a shutter speed closer to the 180degree shutter rule for video recording to look more "cinematic" (for example, 1/50 for 24fps or 1/60 for 30fps). All phone manufacturers are already making apertures as wide as they can for background blur and they can't go any larger for bokeh purposes.

iPhone 17 Air.. Carbon based battery possibly? I’m definitely holding onto my 13 PM for the 17 series.

So my question is, other than flexing how much they can fit in a smaller area, what exactly is an advantage with being this thin? I can not think of anything. The only thing that comes to mind is how more likely you are to breaking it.

iPhone air looks like a Moto Z first gen and that is a good thing. I loved that phone.

Bring back the mini form factor of the iPhone 13 mini. Not everyone wants a giant phone.
