Question: All the scouts rank Demidov's skating as average (and almost everything else above average). I'm wondering how come? His lateral step skating is phenomenal, he can turn on a dime, he has very deceptive movements, he has good acceleration, he had the highest average skating speed on the team. Is this an outdated opinion now? Is he above average in this metric because it sure as heck looks like it.

I'd attribute that to growing pains of a teenager. He did look awkward on skates AT TIMES in the past. But he is a very nifty skater by design. Maybe he needed to find his grown up muscles to support his skating brain.

It wasn't crazy by any measure and the 2nd game was way more pedestrian. He has shown he is as good as expected. Now the learning begins. It's a huge step for him right out of the MHL. Ususally talents like this gather experince in men's leagues earlier. But he has a boss who lacks experince himself.

I'd say Demidov gets in the coach's good grace and goes to the 2nd line then hits 40 points split about equaly in goals and assists. Maybe something like 17 23

As a 65 years old life long Habs fan, I'm obviously very happy we drafted Demidov. But ... stop over hyping him until he makes a real mark in the KHL and/or NHL, most of the plays you've shown are just run of the mill plays. You should start hyping him up when he starts dominating at those levels. I really wish he's all we've been told he is ... but in the meantime, Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Demidov's development and health are the most important factors. Having a better season than Michkov is only for bragging rights and is useless.

It is never going to be comparable. Michkov never palyed on a good team with an actual Kuznetsov at center. It's not to knock on any of the two. It is what it is. There is rarely a very good situation for such comparisons.

You are supposed to decipher what you are looking at. That "electric" play was not an NHL play the D man completely ignored him and went after the puck where an NHL D man just stands him up and play is done.He also kind of went with his head down and had no plan to utilize his teammate kind of reminds me of Fantilli a player that tries to do it himself too often. Having said that we have to like his confidence level and his nose for the net but he is not going to learn much playing against weak KHL players. So he will need some fine tuning versus NA style hockey where he is going to have to use his linemates way more often and there wil be few easy D spots to exploit ....well unless he comes down on D.Savard who is slow as mollasses.

Demidov is a play driver/play maker with more all around game, Michkov is extremely smart, can make great plays in tight, and has an elite shot. Michkov is disengaged defensively and typically needs other players to help create chances and get him the puck, but once he does have it in the offensive end, he’s lights out. I’d rather have Demidov personally, but they’re both elite and there’s an argument for either

Demidov has a lot of skill no doubt but man I get the conflict has caused issues for the KHL but the falloff is crazy. It's no wonder Ovi, Kucherov, and Tarasenko are having more and more players get close to their totals the past couple years. idk who's training these guys but a lot of their footwork and defending is atrocious like worse than OHL, WHL, and Q defenders.

The weak opponent are the reigning champs. Granted, they played without their top four guns at F, but they are still the best team in the league right now. And that "weak opponent"'s third line basically battled Demodov's team to an OT loss.
