The age aside, it's not a risk because we have way too many defensemen prospect, and his cap hit doesn't really matter given it's just 2 years. If he's great? Fantastic. If he's bad/doesn't fit? Very similar trade to the Monahan one. Montreal is getting Laine at 2 years for a high cap hit that really dosen't matter as we are still rebuilding. It really won't affect us. Just like the Monahan 6 million contract when we got him. I think Laine will stay for 2 years. Get resigned at like 3x6.5 and get flipped. Which would result in us having Laine for 2 years. Whatever he could fetch and basically a late first for a bottom 2 defenseman. Major win. Same trade. Less risk. More reward.

Hey man. Great video. I wanna say as a Habs fan. The reason we really have that goal scoring believe in Caufield is because he kinda already proved he can be that. His rookie year without the Ducharme 4th line games paced for over 40 goals. And then the next year was pacing for 50 for a lot of the year. And then this year. Scored 28 goals on 8% shooting. As it stands, the Laine deal put Montreal $2 million over the cap. But... They have six UFA's this year, half of them are likely to be traded. Basu asked Hughes in the trade interview if he was going to put Price on LTIR this fall to cover the cost, he said they don't think so. Expect another trade(s), likely after training camp. @@BubbleGumPlant I'm just going by what the boss said to Apron in that interview, he can surely change his mind if he gets in a bind. RHP is only on IR, not LTIR so they cant recoup any salary as far as I know. Also, the only players who would be waiver exempt to send down would be Struble and Roy I think, and they are part of the 23 man roster. If they have a trade partner for one of the UFA's, it would be the better option because someone may make it out of camp, requiring a free slot on the team.

@@davidrmouck5608 Hugues said to Basu on the interview that he will be able to enter the season with Price in the roster, and then put him in regular season LTIR. CC and Suzuki when together 5 on 5 have been a minus no matter who the 3rd player is, The answer is to split them up and give more size insulation to CC, a line of CC-Dach-Slaf comes to mind. The line of CC-Dach-Monahan seemed to have done well. This leaves Suzuki, who is a #1 center, to center Laine. This obsession with putting together a line that is a minus needs to stop if the Habs are wanting to make the playoffs. Put them together on the PP, but not 5 on 5.

To get into the Playoffs, ideally the team should be at least +20 in GF vs GA. Habs were at -63 so they have 83 goals to makeup. Let’s say +30 to Laine, +Dach/-Monahan is a wash, +10 and +10 improvement for Caufield and Slaf, and +15 for an improved defense, that’s a net +65 so I think they are a bubble team but will miss the playoffs. Edit: Hutson getting 30 pts doesn’t move the needle. If he gets 50-60 pts, then I would say that swings the goal differential by another +20 and maybe the Habs make the playoffs with a Calder nominee on their blue line.

What i’s worried about is how he’ll take assignment to 2nd line. If he finds chemistry fast with Dach then all fine. If Dach gets injured and they put Kerfoot in center we will se ”lazy” Laine all over again.

I am with u on Caufield, i love the kid, but he isn't going to score 50-60 goals! lol, If he could get 40, id be super happy! Even in the 30's is ok.

Habs used a 3rd to get Harris. So getting a 2nd back for him is already a bit of a win. Kent Hughes is a magician.

Laine wants to show Matthew’s how it’s done this year. Lead the league in scoring

I am a habs fan but I am also a realist. Highlight goals look great for the fanbois to see but there is a LOT more to hockey than the 10-20 second highlight reels. Scoring goals and assists look great on the scoresheet and make individuals appear good but again hockey is a LOT more than individual points. Hockey is a TEAM game yoru players need to play like team players and they need to play with a high level of IQ. All i kept hearing about was the habs #1 line was 5th in the league scoring goals.Well that means they would also be one of the worst for goals against becuase the entire line was a MINUS.

I wouldnt say hes questionmark anymore , he loves hockey so much and has now sorted out hes private life to better ways, passing of hes dad affected him alot , and I would say thats why hes game suffered alot. And hes really big selfcritique so that put it down even more! You gonna see totally new player this year!

A 2nd round pick alone for Harris was a good trade, getting Laine as a throw in makes it an amazing trade. It's a no-lose situation. Montreal has two years on his current contract to evaluate and can either extend him at that time or let him go to FA. There's no pressure since Montreal are still two seasons away from possibly being a playoff team. In the 22/23 season Caufield was on pace for a 48-goal season, so it is possible that he can reach 50. Once Demidov, Beck, Reinbacher, Mailloux and Fowler join the team in the future this team is going to be scary.

That's a hell of a lot of money for one player during a rebuild. I don't like it
@paul-daniellebierman45432 ай бұрын
@@adamsteele6148It doesn't matter. It's a 2 year deal so they have options. After the fact they also got a 2nd. A) he does wonders after a year: they can shop him if their not hearing numbers he wants to be resigned B) he does wonders: he loves MTL and does a team discount for believing in him C) he's alright, and either way you mostly have same options just less reward D) he's doneskies: so you either move onbor get whatever you can get. Why? Because they have the time and Cao space to do it. Their window isn't open yet.

Great Video . Habs are building a legit prospect pool crammed full of potential and high end skill . This team is going to be really good for a long time
