That was interesting. Reminds me of a video I saw years ago about these journalists who were looking into North Korean logging camps in Russia. My memory of it is hazy but they came across a lone, bedraggled Korean logging. They got him to talk by giving him a cig and beer. He basically said he worked all day, every day, and sent money back to his family. He looked uneasy. I hope he didn’t get in trouble for that. It’s amazing to see how low key the Russian side of the border is at least.

Nice video. I have crossed DPRK from Russia via train over that bridge with the fence, which the border guards openened during the crossing. The train was loaded with North-Korean workers, which we could talk freely to while in Russia (a chance you never get while in DPRK).. This was de most interesting border experience of my life. Also it's interesting to know that lot's of cars in that area of Russia have the steering wheel on the right because they imported all these cars from Japan, when they drive on the other side.

it looks like those abandoned homes and buildings with "new"ish math books and chinese photo albums, i feel like those are places where north koreans may have stayed while escaping from NK. maybe the smugglers would hold their group of nk defectors, since the doors look new and there are satelite dishes. i think the children's books were probably to keeps the children busy and quiet during day hours. i remember hearing about that area was a popular escape route, but something happened and made it more difficult (maybe land mines) in around 2016-17.

You can see it on map, right at the same spot on the map you showed in video, you will see at chineseside, there is a G302 National Way. There are pictures about this road.

Greetings from China. I went to the China-Russia-North Korea border 4 years ago, on the Chinese side the observation tower is a tourist site called Fangchuan(防川). The thing impressed me most is that there are no patrols or fences on the Sino-Russian border. However, even though the border between China and North Korea is separated by a very wide river, there are barbed wire fences three to four meters high with high voltage electricity and lots of cameras on the Chinese side, while the patrolling soldiers on the North Korean side are clearly visible.

@@noahsrebels Yes. There are many escapees from North Korean in border cities of Northeast China (especially in 90s and 00s), most of them just sneak into China to work for a higher salary, and a small number of people want to smuggle into a third country (usually Mongolia or some Southeast Asian countries) through China and then reach South Korea. If these North Korean smugglers are caught by the Chinese police, they will be sent back to North Korea immediately, where they will be shot and hanged...

Every time I think about this place, I consider it as a national humiliation of China. The land belonged to China for thousands of years, however, it was ceded to Russia 160 years ago, resulting in the complete loss of coastline of the sea of Japan and two coast provinces(Heilongjiang and Jilin) becoming landlocked provices. The distance between Fangchuan and the Sea of Japan is only 15 kilometers. Can you believe it? Only 15 kilometers make two big provinces become landlocked!

@@yasminlunar The border between Canada and the US is the longest undefended border in the world. With the exception of a few border checkpoints, Canadians and Americans can cross the border by simply walking to the other side as there is no fence separating the two. The border is usually only marked by a stone or a clearings cut in the trees/vegetation.

@@Rayden440 A few border checkpoints??? You're obviously NOT Canadian or American. There are HUNDREDS OF CHECKPOINTS. And NO, you cannot just cross the border. That point that connect Russia, china and North korea in one place is a great point to create a free trade zone between the three countries, that will help the economy and create a city that has a russian, chinese and north korean part thanks to the new settlement of the people, that would be an awesome tourism spot. Russia, China and north korea have a great relationship right now so i see that as entirely possible, a lot of people know about this place where these three nations connect including me, a guy from west asia that want to vists :)

@@ivantrainsLIVE As far as I know from my personal experience this isn’t common in other countries during normal conditions but I’m sure people will be more likely to show appreciation and relief after landings in difficult weather conditions. For me personally, I’m not a good flyer and always feel relief after each takeoff and landing, even in good conditions. But I try not to show this as I don’t want others to know how silly I am.
