He is the essence of the Viking spirit....I think the manipulating of his men is supposed to show how great of a tactician he was, always leading his warriors in the right direction under his command. Go back and watch their invasion of York when he is yelling at the saxon soldiers by himself on the ground....it's almost as if Ubbe and the rest of the vikings are gravitated towards him as his Viking spirit is on full display, similar to this scene. Yes, Ragnar was an amazing unparalleled performance but Ivar's ark is the reason I kept watching after Ragnar's death and boy was it worth it just to see this scene. It will never not give me chills.

The moment where that little Saxon soldier stands in front of Ivar really shows how large Ivar was. I don't mean physically, but symbolically, the music stops, and here's this unnamed soldier, just another cog in the machine standing in front of a legend. There are so very few scenes in shows that can stir the kind of raw emotion this scene does. The very human moment of fear in Ivar in the end despite all his boasting and posturing is so hard to swallow. The way the fighting stopped to watch one of the last Ragnar-esque men of legend pass on, I would love to use this scene as a way to get more people to watch the show but it wouldn't hit the same without knowing all the history and character development. This just motivates me more to invent my memory wiping machine to wipe the memory of this show from my brain so I can see it all over again.

Ivar is one of my favorite character cause he have gone through a lot because of his disability and the death of his mother. When his father Ragnar Lothbrok ask him to be ruthless to his enemy he did exactly that. I also like the fact that Hvitserk never left his disabled brother Ivar's side. if it wasn't for him he would have died long time ago. At the end Ivar changed for good and decided to join his family in Valhalla at Asgard. All the characters in Vikings did a good job. It is definitely one of my favorite history drama series along side Game of thrones. Valar morghulis. Lo, There do I see my Father Lo, There do I see my Mother and My Brothers and my Sisters Lo, There do I see the line of my people back to the beginning Lo, They do call to me They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla Where thine enemies have been vanquished Where the brave shall live Forever Nor shall we mourn but rejoice for those that have died the glorious death.
