This arc was probably my favorite so far. It had me making difficult decisions, it was shocking and it was emotional. In the end, I didn’t send Ivarr to Valhalla but I genuinely felt bad when Ubba talked about seeing his brother in Valhalla. However I don’t regret my decision because Ivarr got so many people killed even after peace was established just to feed his bloodlust.

I mean if he gets valhalla then it is a win-win situation for him no matter the outcome of the fight(Obviously Eivor would win or else how can story go on). So he did not let Ceolbert get what he wanted so in return I did not give the one thing he wanted.

@@ksbfun You can't think of it as him deserving Valhalla. As a major part of the culture, Odin needs his army, though it is a lost cause. Sending him to Valhalla is a penance to the All Father, so you choosing to give him his axe is you acting on Odin's behalf. However, denying him is also Odin's decision, as if he wanted him in the army, he would have swayed your hand to assist him.

Just finished this arc and was blindsided by the ending. I was on the fence about Ivarr most of the time, but at one point was in the camp of solidly liking him. I suspected that he may be a psychopath but rejected that idea based on his love for his brother, his mentoring of Ceolbert, and his friendship with Eivor. What he did at the end firmly cemented psychopathy imo. In the end I denied him Valhalla, purely based on the notion that Valhalla is for those who chase honor and glory. He did chase glory to the end, but went about it in dishonorable ways. There was a time when he definitely would've deserved Valhalla, being a glorious king-killer and having so many victories. But at the end I felt like what he did overshadowed all of that. There's nothing honorable about betrayal, and he betrayed both Ceolbert and Eivor.

The way I saw it is like this: Giving him Valhalla is giving Ivarr what he wants. He killed Ceolbert and broke his oath just so he could die a warriors death. Not giving him Valhalla is showing him that what he did was wrong. Ivarr acts like a child a lot, and with children, they need to learn a lesson. But on top of all that, I just didnt think he deserved it. Valhalla was for Viking warriors who died honorably. Valhalla wasnt for every warrior. Ivarr acted very dishonorably in killing Ceolbert, breaking his oath, and tricking you in his final fight with that talking bullshit. He was a great warrior, and before all kf that I would have 100% said that he deserves Valhalla. But actions have consequences, and the ends do NOT justify the means

Ivarr quickly became one of my favorite characters early on but not after his betrayal. It's pretty messed up thinking that Ceolbert could've been anyone, even Ivarr's brother, and Ivarr wouldn't care as he was so far gone at that point for war and battle. I wish they would've fleshed out Ceolbert, Ivarr and others more but in the games defense I felt really sad and empty after this quest, 2 deaths that couldn't be stopped and that didn't need to happen.... and the way Rhodri hangs is just brutal but is very similar to when we first met Ivarr which was a nice touch. I still have many problems with Valhalla but I remember I spawned on a synchronization point and took a good 5 minutes looking at the horizon to process what just happened with things being eerily silent than usual.

I denied him Valhalla not because I was angry with him, but because he used trickery and deceit to get his way and shed more blood, and also by using the blood eagle without any respect for what the blood eagle was. I read somewhere else that what Ivarr did was a big no even in Norse culture back in the day (torturing innocent people, backstabbing a kid), so I refused his axe. I still feel some guilt over it, since I denied him his preferred afterlife against Odin’s advice, but thusfar, I’ve disagreed with almost everything Odin says to me. I didn't give Ivarr his axe because he just didn't deserve it. Valhalla is for honorable warriors not just for any warriors. Ivarr died a dishonorable warrior he broke his oaths, he killed a defenseless kid who trusted him, he then pulled a trick on Eivor by that talking part something that and honorable warrior doesn't do. Ivarr was very dishonorable by the end and not worthy of Valhalla so i denied him Valhalla. I did however send Dag to valhalla that man was an honorable warrior even though he didn't really trust Eivor he still followed the orders of his Jarl by listening to Eivor. And the more and more Eivor went out for glory instead of staying in the clan the more Dag took care of the clan. And through misscommunication Dag thought Eivor never searched for Sigurd causing Dag to think Eivor was a traitor so he fought him. Dag fought with Honor never tricking Eivor. Dag fought for the honor of his leader and clan and for what he believed in. Dag was a honorable warrior who deserved Valhalla. Ivarr did not.

When I fought Ivarr, I had the perk where time moved slower when you dodged an attack. I use a dagger to be faster and all, so when I dodged, I had time to stab him maybe 8 times a second. After what he did to Ceolbert, he deserved it. I was legitimately torn up that he went by himself to cheer up Ivarr, and I felt like Ivarr and I were on the same page with making Rhodri suffer for what he did to Ceolbert. I really felt like I'd met Ivarr on the battlefield, and we really met there. But after his confession, just for a shot at glory, I wanted him to suffer. He only hit me once, from the brief talking we did during the fight. Otherwise, he never got in a shot. It felt ironic to me: my weapon of choice, the buildup of a warrior before only ever landing a hit due to dishonorable means, and the denial of his aspirations

I did send him to Valhalla why? Because I don't think he really killed Ceolbert. 1-As he was saying " I pushed this dragon dagger into his heart", but the dagger was Ceolbert's lower abdominal 2-Ivarr is all about glory, he brags about his many kills. If he killed Ceolbert, then he would either have to admit to killing someone much loved by both himself and his allies, or he'd have to keep it to himself. Furthermore, on the way to kill Radvi, he names half a dozen nobles and kings that he kills yet leaves Ceolbert off the list - granted there are other reasons for this. Ivarr is obsessed with Valhalla. Murder doesn't get you into Valhalla. You must kill your opponent honourably, or at least memorably. Murdering Ceolbert and leaving him to rot in a cave wouldn't get him anything 3-Coelbert didn't seem angry at him. As Ceolbert was dying, he said Ivarr's name several times but didn't make any attempt to show that he was angry with him or that he had been the one to attack him. He was just gazing at the sky 4-Valhalla. As we all know, Ivarr is obsessed with Valhalla. He was frantic to get an Axe for Ceolbert when he was dying so that he would gain access to Valhalla. In the cave, there was no Axe nor beside him. If Anything, Ivarr would have placed the axe in his hand then finished him off. condemning him to Helheim would be something that an enemy or a Saxon/Briton would do. 5-Eivor. It was plain to see that Eivor didn't want to fight Ivarr - at least not until Ivarr brought up him killing Ceolbert. So it's quite likely that he was egging Eivor into the fight. 6-Revenge. Ceolbert had just assisted in killing one of their top generals and dealing a fatal wound to the Britons. Some of them were probably peeved and said, 'Hey, I'm gut that guy when I see him.

I granted him valhalla I knew odin favoured him and denying him would anger the allfather. He was not a good man but still a brave coragious warrior, he deserved valhalla

Glad that i don't believe in god lmao. Also Odin is selfish guy. Play further. Also its about dying with honor. Ivvar just getting hooked by torturing a guy, stabbed the innocent kid and caused numerous unnecessary deaths just for his pleasure. He is a f****g psycho. Ivvar can rot in helheim.

After killing Ivar i would've took the king's body down & buried it in a secret place. No1 needs to tell that story & Ivar doesn't deserve the infamy. I would've then blood eagled Ivar's body, strapped him up there & left a sign saying the king did this to Ivar😂

When Ivarr confessed that he murdered Ceolbert, a young boy whom he treated like a son, I was so mad I wanted to inflict him the Blood Eagle. Once I defeated him, I denied him the Valhalla. He lost my respect.
