After you mix the ice cream, instead of removing the ice cream to freeze for a harder consistency, what about just hitting the freeze button and not mix it to speed freeze it? 30 minutes vs the 2 hours in the freezer?
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
You can do that too. That might actually be a better idea...just be sure to remove the paddle first...LOL

I gotta say, this would've been a strong consideration when I was looking. The other compressor machines cost way more. I vetoed the container freezer type because of freezer space.
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
Heya Chris. I've been pretty happy so far with this machine... I agree with you on the freezer space... That's valuable real estate!

Hey there. I know this video is old, but has your ivation ice cream maker held up still? I’m considering buying one but worried it won’t last me very long since the quality isn’t the best.

Mine is still working well... My Creami gets more use though, but it still seems to be going strong.

@@JoesPhenomenalwhy do you like the Creami more?
@JoesPhenomenal9 ай бұрын
The texture that you get out of the creami is spot on to scooped ice creami. Comes out fantastic... If you don't mind waiting for the pints to freeze... Those compressor machines are great too, but they will give you more of a soft serve texture unless you freeze them up a little at the end... Even so, the texture isn't quite as good as in the creami, but at least you get your dessert a lot faster.

Do u prefer the frozen tub or this type more.

I think the compressor machines are pretty fantastic... Time-wise they're really tough to beat. You can put warm ingredients in there and it still freezes it in under an hour.. No worrying about pre freezing a bowl either.... Even though with the other type, I was just leaving it in the freezer anyways... Still worked faster.

Joe, have you ever done a comparison between the kitchenaid ice cream attachments vs. Ivation?

I haven't! But I might go get em or better yet ask kitchen aid to send em for review.. They look pretty good.

Why did you cool the base in the refrigerator rather than using the machine's base-cooling feature?
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
I was gonna walk away form it for a little bit. I was afraid that the base cooling feature on the machine might get it a little too cold and start to harden it, and I didn't want to put too much strain on the paddle. You can for sure do that, though. ... Less mess too.
@adamchurvis12 жыл бұрын
@@JoesPhenomenal But... that's EXACTLY what it's for. You second-guessed a factory feature without even trying it once? Where is the logic in that -- especially for a product review? Did the instructions not cover use of the feature? Please explain.
@JoesPhenomenal2 жыл бұрын
@@adamchurvis1 The factory instructions tout it as a "keeps cold" feature for when the ice cream making cycle finishes, so I didn't really want to mention it it that sense.. looking back though, I should have brought it up as an option, though... I've noticed that it really is pretty cold too. If you leave it on like that, it will freeze the paddle into the mix and make it a little bit of a pain to remove. The fridge method takes a little longer, but it won't harden up, and it lets the mix thicken up a little before you put it in to churn.... More so with mixes that contain eggs than not, however.

Anyone know if it’s possible to get a replacement paddle for this machine?? 😭
@JoesPhenomenal10 ай бұрын
Ohh.. That's a tough one... Ivation isn't the best to try to get parts from... A lot of their models are either knockoffs or possibly rebrands of whynter ice cream machines though. A paddle from on eof those might work... Hard to say though.

Is the lello 4080 better?
@JoesPhenomenal Жыл бұрын
Well, the Lello is certainly higher end, but it's pricey. The Lello has a lot higher capacity than this one though, as well. I tested one of Ivation's larger compressor ice cream machines and it had more features than this one and also seemed to freeze a little harder too, so that's probably a closer comparison than this one is. Here goes the link if you want to see it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWeqnpyDmduHa9E
